Dead panel and animations on flight load
Have had same problem, but not always, seems to depend on conditions when you save. I think having additional windows open makes it worse - try closing any other windows and popups, and having full screen mode, and if you have a second monitor then turn it off before you save and before you reload.

JS41 New Checklist and Comments
Hi Emile, for some reason the attachment seems to keep disappearing. It was there, but now it isn't. And for some other bizarre reason when I log onto this forum from my pc, sometimes I just get a blank screen, so I am writing this post on my iPad, but I don't have the checklist on my iPad so I can't attach it. If you check back to this topic in a day or two, I will have figured out how to do it, and I'll reattach the checklist (unless some kind person who has already downloaded it beats me to it). Al.

Engine Fire during Take-Off
Try following my checklist (see recent post "J41 New Checklist and Comments") in this forum. Whatever you're doing wrong (it could be one of several things), if you follow this checklist you'll get into the air without turning the plane into a fireball. And if you do mess things up, there's even a section for handling engine fires in the air. Al.

JS41 New Checklist and Comments
I don't have any data on landing distances, it's a completely different calculation, and I haven't worked it out yet. Generally though, I would work on the basis that landing distances tend to be less than T/O distances, so if you can take-off from a certain runway then you can also land there. ckyliu has given you the fix for the polygons, but absolutely right that it should be a pinned topic in this forum. J41 Problems.
Hi, Re. (1) sounds on FSX screen - I get this sometimes but it doesn't seem to cause any other problems Re. (2) black panels - these have a brightness control, you could check it is turned up (see the manual) Re. (3) levers not moving - no idea, sorry. Generally, the advice is that the aircraft works better if you don't load it directly from the FSX menu, as you are doing. Instead, load the FSX default flight (trike over sunday harbour), then when that is loaded, press 'ALT' to bring up the menus, and select FLIGHTS - LOAD, and load your JS41 flight. Al.

JS41 New Checklist and Comments
OK, I think the attachment file size was too large so it's been deleted by the moderators. I'll work out how to reduce the filesize or something because it is a good checklist . . . .

JS41 New Checklist and Comments
Well, that is odd, the attachment was there when I put the post up, but now it's gone. Has anyone else had problems with vanishing attachments on these posts ? I've noticed a lot of people give links to documents instead of putting them as attachments, but I don't have a website so not sure where else I could put it ?

J-41 Runway length requirement
Have a look at the checklist I just posted on a separate thread. I've included a small table for max & min loadings, ambient temperatures, and airport altitude, all of which affect T/O distance. You can use linear interpolation between these points. It's not official data, but I worked it out theoretically and it seems to tally with the aircrafts performance. One thing to watch out for is that in order to get accurate performance according to T/O weight, I have found you need to open and close the FSX "fuel & payload" menu option, after you have filled in the JS41's load sheet. If you don't do this, you seem to get the same default performance regardless of what it says on the load sheet. It's as if FSX doesn't read the load data until you open that menu item. I have seen 4000' quoted and the link provided by Rob gives TO distances that are longer than mine, but this may include a clearance distance. In terms of ground roll, I can take off for example at Beccles (EGSM, runway length 2279 feet); give it a try!

JS41 New Checklist and Comments
Hi, Have been flying the JS4100 for a couple of months now, absolutely fantastic! I've developed my own checklist for all stages of flight, which is attached for anyone who is interested. It's not the full detail as per the operating manual, but it's enough for a full flight without blowing up the engines. It covers four sides of A4, I have mine on two double-sided laminated sheets. It also covers a few things that crop up from time to time in the forum, including air starts and T/O distances. The latter is based on my own calculations and several trial flights; I'd be interested in any feedback. Just a couple of comments for PMDG: 1. It took me a long time to sort out the flashing-polygons problem and the disappearing-textures problem. When you know the answer it's easy, but it took me a lot of time to find the answers. As these are known problems, why not just put a few lines of addendum in the manual that comes with the product ? This could save new buyers a lot of grief. 2. There are lots of posts on the cockpit noises being too loud. I don't find the noises too loud, but I do find the tone and volume change massively when I turn my virtual head just a fraction - surely that can't be realistic ? Other than those two minor gripes, it's a brilliant product, thank you. Hope some of you find the checklist useful.
