Big screen (27 inch, 2560px) or 3 24 inch screens?
sgtscarfy replied to Bert Dromer's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcI did option 1 and 2. First setup was 3x24" @ 1920x1080 on a ATI HD5870 and the performance hit was large. With 3 Monitors in eyefinity/Triplehead2go you dont really get too much more view. Maybe an additional 20-30 degrees of view. It more stretches the original image to give the illusion of peripheral vision. Yes it looks awesome but for the cost to keep the performance you get right now is very large. At first the bezels didnt bother me but after 6 months they eventually got on my nerves. My final setup is a 42" @ 1920x1080 LEDTV. Im very happy with this setup, gives me detail and if i need to look around i use the TrackIR. It costed WAY less then the 3 screens and it fits nicer into my other games too(BF3). Obviously its only my opinion but im super happy with what I got now. Not to happy on what ive spent to get here though... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------VERSES--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Turn Crash Detection On?
Haha not to be a troll but doesnt that force you to be more cautious of what you are doing. IRL when im in IMC, I only have one opportunity to get it right. I also like that aspect in my simming. Just my opinion though...

How high do I fly?
From the charter work I do, i use the general rule of thumb. Take the distance and add 2 zeros up to a few thousand below your service ceiling. ex 250NM trip = FL250. If you go above this you are usually climbing to your cruise altitude then almost immediately descending for your intended approach(IFR). Dude in canada this happens all the time, its not breaking the rules but more an exception. The other thing is Air Canada almost always flys 250-300knots below 10,000ft and tells Center that they are holding 250(buddy is a 25 year veteran ATC at YWG ACC).
