I have used 6144 for about three years actually (basically 6k shadows), and it is even better, and still no performance hit even on my old 1080Ti I had then. I don't know why he didn't try this in the video.

Yup been doing this for a couple of years as well

Speaking of keeping the UI as clear as possible, I'm thinking of making an Auto LOD spin off of this app where you set a target FPS band and upper and lower LOD limits and it adjusts your LODs, and possibly even cloud quality if I can ever work out how to detect GPU load without it killing app performance, automatically to keep you in the middle of that FPS band. This would greatly simplify the UI and make it much less daunting for less tech-savvy users. The hard bit is not having it continuously hunt for the right LODs/cloud quality, but my recent experience implementing LOD Step Max, and the tolerance buffering associated with cruise LOD update and cloud quality reduction has me hopeful this will work. Stay tuned!

This is bonker's LOL, Awesome !

I hope that poor pup of your's get's plenty of walks 🙂

same for me with 551.46 driver. Filters keep resetting every time I launch the sim.

See my post above, there is a workaround:

Every time you load the sim, delete all the filter(s) and then re-add them in the order you created them. They come back with the original values that you set. This should help cut back the time that you would've spent adjusting them manually.

Not ideal but it is pretty quick to do and will suffice until Nvidia fix the issue.

Experimenting a little with the dynamic LOD mod in the eternal quest for holy grail performance. Very easy to set up, I'll probably keep it. Not really necessary to have a high TLOD at low altitudes + the step max feature is pretty smart as it changes TLOD incrementally to reduce the chance of stutters.

I'm happy with the performance as it is now. Still on the Canada WU - it'll be interesting to see if performance changes after upgrading to WU15 (doesn't make sense that it should though).

    Hey Welcome Back !

I have just been using the dynamic LOD mod and I love it, never bothered with the DLSS swapper as I run TLAA. I did update my Nvidia drivers to the latest version and the sim is wonderfully smooth but currently NVIDIA filters are broken and do not save properly. I did find a workaround and that is once you add the filters and make the changes you want at the end of your sim sesion delete them, next time you fire up the sim re add them in the same sequence, they come back with the correct settings. I also took pics as well just in case.

Lol, that actually works. As you say, not ideal, but it does definitely reduce the number of clicks necessary to get the settings back.

Frustrating, as it suggests the profiles are actually being saved somewhere…

    I hear you !

For now before I close the sim I just delete the 3 filters I use then next time I load at the gate quickly add them back.

The things we are prepared to do for our hobby lol

Not sure if it’s the recent driver update or MSFS update, but my filter settings keep changing every time I start the sim.  Categories are saved, but settings keep changing.

Anyone else using game filter seeing this?

    thanks RJC no problem

I just read my reply to your question and if it came across a little harsh then I apologize, it was not meant that way. There are now many pages in this thread regarding this great addon and my intent was to save you time trying to find this info.

hi , does your great programme  read actual FPS or can it read DLSS3 FG ? i say because since i just download the very latest version aim only seeing 30s/40s where before it was ( at cruise ) 70s/80s . i have a 4090 at 4k 60hz . its no big deal just curious more than anything

    anyway thanks again

I asked the exact same question a few posts ago as I have a 4090 as well,

The FPS number you see in the program relates to the non-frame generation, FPS

  9. I just realized when I did the driver update last week I forgot to reset my filter settings as well. I put them all back in but they change even if you switch to a different empty profile or select Off so I guess this must be a bug.

I'll have to leave them off for now I guess as the sim looks horrible with what they keep changing too.

I did a quick search and people are complaining of the same issue over on the Nvidia Forums as well.

That is totally strange. Not sure how the magnet prevents it from entering calibration mode as the original author, myself and two other users had no issues getting it to flash for calibration. Sorry it didn't work out. You may have more issues going on.

Interestingly enough I also replied to the original poster over on the X-Plane 12 forum.

Looks like it could be my issue, the left slider definitely causes my roll axis too drift but even with it down I started having random issues again.

    He posted the following reply:

I recently wrote a comment about my Thrustmaster Boeing TCA yoke , having to do with the sporadic full deflection

of the Roll axis , I originally thought it was the Hall Effect error , caused by magnet displacement , but

I unwittingly stumbled on the real problem , while I was fiddling around with the Spring tension

    of the Yoke.

I ironically had the Calibration app , window open , while I accidentally touched the ribbon cable

that fed the lower two throttle sliders , and noticed that when I moved the cable , that the weak solder joint

made a temporary solid connection ( Continuity ).

I then fixed a tie-wrap to the ribbon cable , plus a small piece of Duct-tape , that held the solder joint firmly

and realized that the Slider , no longer produced the full deflection ( "Drift" ) of the Yoke , and both of the X and Y

    axes lined-up , centered . Wow !

I then wrote to Thrustmaster , to determine if they would correct the solder-joint , as it was difficult for me to reach .

They agreed , so I shipped it back to Miami , and had Ricmotech fix the yoke. This was the second time that

I had shipped my unit to them , but this time , it really got fixed . I requested that they correct the solder joint , and they did.

Apparently , the two sliders , share a common Ground with the Roll Axis , so if the connection is weak

the Drift will either be intermittent or Full "hard-over" deflection .

My yoke never performed this well , even after the first day that I purchased it , due to the deficient manufacturing solder joint .

Here's the proof that the test is correct: If moving the Slider causes Drift or deflection , the problem is the Ground connection .

I think that many of have had this problem , due to a manufacturing defect , but Thrustmaster was gracious enough to fix my yoke .

My original Magnet fix comment was just a "band-aid fix" .

I hope this helps anyone , with a similar problem ?

The Xbox lite was illuminated and then I press the Xbox button and it will flash faster

Unfortunately when the magnet is in place this is the step I cannot complete. I press the button but the LED does not flash faster so I cannot perform the calibration. It works without issues when there is no magnet.

I guess I am going to have to return this yoke ☹️

Check the -> recalibrate <- link I posted. Yes they move around when the throttle levers are up. I taped mine down to prevent me from moving them. It sucks we have to do all this to get it working correctly.

Hey I am wondering if you can help me,

Today I noticed the roll axis was drifting to the left again so I thought I would try one of the magnets. I didn't want to use the adhesive at first so I held the magnet in place with some painters tape just too try it. When I went too calibrate the yoke I followed the instructions but I could not get the led to flash rapidly (step 2) and was not able to complete the calibration. When I removed the magnet I could calibrate the yoke exactly as per your document.

Is there anything else I need to do when the magnet is in place?

I've updated the UI in the 0.3.6 test version, same download link here, to revise the display of Sim Values to be hopefully a bit clearer.

I cannot keep up with your releases lol

You sir are an awesome individual for taking this on where the dev left off and creating a masterpiece. I have to say with the latest Nvidia drivers I updated too a couple days ago and this app I have never had such a butter smooth experience in the sim. I just left Zurich in the PMDG with a ton of FSLTL traffic and even taxiing to the active runway was sublime. When I arrive in Manchester I will be jumping in the Fenix and coming right back 🙂

I have been lucky with my experience with the sim after I bit the bullet and purchased my 4090, your work has made it even better. I don't think I will ever need to upgrade my hardware again !!

Seriously, thank you for your hard work and taking time to evolve this awesome addon.

eg. if your FPS Adaption triggers at 30 FPS and you have decrease cloud quality checked and a cloud recovery FPS of +10 as shown below, your system will need to achieve 40+ FPS for the full reduce for period (5 seconds in the example below). This is to stop FPS adaption constantly triggering if your system gains good FPS by reducing cloud quality by 1, then promptly loses it again when it switches back. Mine can gain/lose up to 8 FPS changing cloud quality, so I set it to 10 and it keeps the FPS adaption going until I am getting better than that.

    Quick question,

For those that are using FG and the FPS Adaption feature do you set the limit of the FG FPS or the actual FPS in MSFS? I use FG with my Sony X90K @ 100Hz so my target FPS is set to 97 but in MSFS the FPS is showing 48

    Hello Bob and all!

The issue turned out to be my broadband connection, which on Saturday morning began to wither, and then died completely.

Hence disappearing from here for 2 days of "offline" life!

Thanks @bobcat999 and everyone else for your help.

Glad you sorted it, I had a similar issue a week ago and it was network related as well. Below is from a post I opened and shared the fix ......

Basically I was having some network issues, I will expand a little .... I run ad blocking software (AdGuard Home) on a virtual machine running on a ProxMox Server. I have been running this setup for over a year & a half without issues. Yesterday afternoon I talked to my Son who lives about 90 minutes away and he has not had any issues so I started to investigate further. I shut my ProxMox server down and changed the DNS on my Router to point at CloudFlare and then rebooted it. Straight away my load times to the main menu were about 2 minutes & 50 seconds (Before it was taking between 5 - 6 minutes to get this far). Then I loaded the Fenix A320 to gate 10 at EGPH with my normal addons, GSX Pro, FSLTL, SpadNext & the Adaptive Load App. Once I hit the "Fly" button it took a further 34 seconds to load into the Fenix at the gate. Before this took a further 4 - 5 minutes. I also have my ATC audio back as well now.

This morning I rebooted my ProxMox server and pointed my DNS on my router back to the AdGuard virtual machine and the sim and the Fenix still booted up without issues as above.

I guess the moral of this story is Microsoft/Asobo are not always to blame, although the server outage last week did lead me up the garden path a bit lol.

I only used one. Also make sure you recalibrate the yoke after you install it. Mine has been working great. Also note I have the two throttle levers full down. They have a tendency to miss with the roll axis.

I actually just noticed when I installed the drivers and checked the control panel how much the roll axis was jumping around and the throttle sliders were fully up, I put them in the down position and I didn't see the roll axis jumping around. Maybe that was my issue. I do have the magnets now anyway so will try a couple of flights.

How do you calibrate using the Thrustmaster flight control option? There is no calibrate button

I figured I'd share my experience with others incase some are having the same issues. I have seen a few post online with others having the same problem with the X-Axis (Roll). I have already sent my TCA Yoke back to Thrustmaster once to fix the issue but it came back a month later.

    Here is my original problem:

    Thrustmaster Support
My TCA Boeing Yoke X-Axis keeps centering left of center. I can unplug and re-plug it in and it will be fine for awhile and then it will shift to the left of center again after awhile. This is not good when trying to fly planes in MSFS2020. Sometimes it will be fine on take off and then loose center on landings. Sometimes I have to push and pull the yoke Y-Axis (elevator) to get the left/right axis to re-center. I use both the TM drivers and the Windows drivers with the same results. Any suggestions as this is become a pain to use.

    0CGeiNE.jpg

Since the problem came back I decided to see if others had the issues. I was amazed that this was a common problem. I then came across a post from a user on the xplane.org site. He actually took the yoke apart and figured out what was causing the problem.

    d8s6UsK.png

I followed his suggestion and order a magnet from Amazon.

    eEQ9gvG.png

I installed the magnet and ran the TM TCA Boeing Yoke calibration procedures.

    Mm55LdC.jpg

Since doing this I have not had a single issue with my TCA Yoke. The calibration is spot on. You figure a company like TM would fix the problem since there have been a few RMA from other users. I saved myself a second RMA to TM and being without a yoke for a week or two. Simple fix for around $8.

Did you use just one of these magnets stuck to the back or is there two I can’t quite tell from the picture .

I recently noticed some weird control issues when making small adjustments to the left roll axis, so I also ordered some of these magnets and they are being delivered today.

I have now matured the LOD Step Max functionality to a point where I am happy to put it out as a release version 0.3.5, which you can download here.

Changes in my version 0.3.5 made since Fragtality's 0.3.2 release are summarised as follows:

    • LOD Step Max, when checked, will allow you to set a maximum change per second for LOD increases and decreases that can be set individually. Low values will minimise LOD changes that the MSFS rendering engine processes, and hence should improve smoothness transitioning between LOD levels. There is also an automated lead predictor for LOD changes based on your average climb/descent rate and LOD Step Max values whereby it will commence changing LOD as early as required to achieve the desired LOD very close to the next AGL threshold. This effectively removes the time delay in achieving new LOD values when low LOD Step Max values are used. When unchecked, LOD changes will change as abruptly as the LOD steps you make between LOD table settings, per original 0.3.2 functionality.
    • Cruise LOD Updates, when checked, will continue to update LODs in cruise but only if your AGL changes enough to put you at a new LOD table value and even then only if you cross it by a +- 5% null zone. This generally only activates when cruising at MSA over varying terrain and mostly lays dormant otherwise. Again, unchecked you will get original 0.3.2 functionality.
    • PC and VR LODs are changed at the same time, meaning it is not necessary to select whether a profile is PC or VR as LODs will change whether you are in PC or VR mode. As a result, the VR checkbox has been removed and an additional 3 profiles have been added, totaling 6, to give you more choice for the type of flying you do.
    • There are also a few fixes to fix minor issues I came across while digging through the code and testing and some small UI changes to accommodate the changed and removed features.

Screenshots of 0.3.5's UI, firstly with LOD Step Max disabled (default):

    spacer.png

    And with it enabled:

    spacer.png

I hope you find the enhancements I have made useful. If not, with the exception of the setting of both PC and VR LODs together, they can all be turned off and are off by default anyway, so at the very least you'll get the bug fixes.

Thank you very much for taking this project on from where the original developer started.

    It is much appreciated

I know what I have explained may go over many heads but if you are experiencing network connectivity in the sim it may be worth rebooting your router.
