  1. The above link does not work for me. In fact if you Google 'virtual CDU' none of the links that come up work for me. :( I also really hope that we will get a statement, although whether or not they give one is still their decision, as they are not obligated to tell us anything about it.
  2. It looks like the app has been pulled from both the App Store and Google Play store. I, like others probably, was waiting for PMDG and the developer to sort things out before buying it. It's a shame, really. Seemed like a great app to me!
  3. Martin, Somewhere on the AVSIM forums (I think it was the DX10 forum, but I can't remember) I came across two other things that people were suggesting. One person said that some graphics card manufacturers ship their cards with the GPU voltage not set at the standard level, but slightly 'underclocked', if you will. This person described a huge improvement when he upped the voltage a little bit (not over clocking though). Second thing: some time ago I came across another person who mentioned that for some reason, some Nvidia GTX cards cannot interact with FSX in a certain way, which causes the cards to be barely used. I don't know how this works or why this would be the case, but I think my card could be one of those models, because when I switched to an ATI card I borrowed from a friend of mine with roughly the same specs as my Nvidia, I did see an increase in FPS. I'm not suggesting that these things will work and these are both things that actually seem highly unlikely to me to be the cause of the problems you're having, because the sim is so CPU-dependant, but it's something I remembered and just wanted to share with you. ^_^
  4. With the settings in the pic I posted I get 25-30 FPS in DX10 mode (with bad weather, etc.) These settings are completely different from what I had when using DX9. I appreciate your thoughts though, will give it a try! ^_^
  5. Uhm, AVSIM has a dedicated DX10 forum, you should check that out: http://forum.avsim.net/forum/569-dx-10-discussions-hints-and-help/ There are some patches and fixes that you should download and install to address some of the problems DX10-preview causes, like flashing runways, flashing water, night textures disappearing. Second, anti-aliasing does not work properly in DX10, so set your texture filtering setting in your FSX graphics settings to trilinear with anti-aliasing turned on, and then use inspector to edit some graphics settings (I'll upload a pic of my settings in a few). The thing that annoys me most is that most add-on scenery developers don't optimise their night textures for DX10, so I fly in daytime most of the time. Good luck! Thanks for your post, but unfortunately I did all that. I spent many many hours (and nights) reinstalling FSX and SP's and using different tweaks and guides, but to no avail :(
  6. Hi Martin, I can (unfortunately) sympathise with you. A few months ago, after having been away from FSX and the community for a few years, I decided to get myself a new rig, install FSX again, and get back to flying. I upgraded from an 'old' quad core processor to an i7-3770K (OC's to 4.5GHz) and noticed that I was only getting about 12FPS in the NGX. After applying all the tweaks and reading all the guides I could find (Word Not Allowed's guide, Nick's Nvidia inspector settings, *******' fsx.cfg utility) I got an increase of a few FPS, but that was it. What did the trick for me was to turn on DX10 preview in FSX and try to optimise my settings for use with DX10. With DX10 on I get around 25-30 FPS in the NGX with ASE and add-on scenery. DX9? Frames drop right back to 10/13. Unfortunately I have yet to figure out what enables other people to use DX9 with high frame rates, with a pc that's comparable to mine. Until then, I'm using DX10, despite of the downsides that it has. Hope this helps, Toto
