May 9, 201313 yr I am wondering what framerates you get when flying the Ngx. I do not get any higher then 15fps.My system should be more than fine. It is an i7 with a good and recent videocard. I have lots of memory. Every benchmark says my computer is very well. My CPU is used for 30% when flying.I installed fsx on a separate hard disk, with no other programs. I used all tricks and tips I could find to optimize the installation, includings tipsmentioned here. I did the same when installing the Ngx. Really; I have read so much about this.I also use programs like fsps. I does not matter if I use or not use programs like ase or fspassengers. And still she stutters when flying. The fps are really low. Only default planes get high rates. Is this just me? Martin Pampiermole

I this just me? I recommend you Word Not Allowed's guide, just type "Word Not Allowed's Flight Simulation World" in google. You have there all info - all fsx settings for best performance, but you have hadware guide too, and overclocking advices(links). It's really makes a difference, i have 30fps(locked) with NGX most of time Zeljko Budovic
May 9, 201313 yr I had an issue with my video card and the pci express slot when I built my new system. My system would not recognize the card in the first and primary pci express slot, I believe because it was a 3.0 slot and the card was 2.0 even those 3.0 is backwards compatible. So I put it in the 2nd slot. FSX performance was horrid. The 2nd slot was only running at pcie 1.1 or something like that. Just a thought. Check your pcie speed. I did get it working and FSX was much better. Brent Baker

May 9, 201313 yr Hi Martin, I can (unfortunately) sympathise with you. A few months ago, after having been away from FSX and the community for a few years, I decided to get myself a new rig, install FSX again, and get back to flying. I upgraded from an 'old' quad core processor to an i7-3770K (OC's to 4.5GHz) and noticed that I was only getting about 12FPS in the NGX. After applying all the tweaks and reading all the guides I could find (Word Not Allowed's guide, Nick's Nvidia inspector settings, *******' fsx.cfg utility) I got an increase of a few FPS, but that was it. What did the trick for me was to turn on DX10 preview in FSX and try to optimise my settings for use with DX10. With DX10 on I get around 25-30 FPS in the NGX with ASE and add-on scenery. DX9? Frames drop right back to 10/13. Unfortunately I have yet to figure out what enables other people to use DX9 with high frame rates, with a pc that's comparable to mine. Until then, I'm using DX10, despite of the downsides that it has. Hope this helps, Toto Toto Marchand

Just tick the box in settings, or more? Thank you! Martin Pampiermole

Toto You need to use only one guide for fsx tuning. You can't apply all tweaks you find, they are not working togheter. DX10 is a good alternative, but i find DX9 + Word Not Allowed's FSX settings + Nick's N windows tuning the best. Check also your FSX installation, the right way can be find in Nick's N windows 7 tuning guide. It's very important to have service packs and simconnect installed in the right way - this can kill performance too, and no guide or DX mode will help you then  P.S. the "Greatest" slideshow i ever get was after i tried Acceleration pack. I installed everithing in correct way, double checked all settings, and nothing helps. So i uninstalled Acceleration and installed SP1 + SP2. And performance was beautiful again! The only thing i changed was Acceleration pack. So, my conclusion after that was - the acceleration pack just can't work on some systems/for some people's. I saw to often simconnect problems with acceleration, you can have a problem and not be aware of that. This is just one posibility Edited May 9, 201313 yr by B247NG Zeljko Budovic
May 9, 201313 yr Hi Toto, You discribed my frustration very well! I will give it a try. What do you do to optimise for dx10? Just tick the box in settings, or more? Thank you! Uhm, AVSIM has a dedicated DX10 forum, you should check that out: http://forum.avsim.net/forum/569-dx-10-discussions-hints-and-help/ There are some patches and fixes that you should download and install to address some of the problems DX10-preview causes, like flashing runways, flashing water, night textures disappearing. Second, anti-aliasing does not work properly in DX10, so set your texture filtering setting in your FSX graphics settings to trilinear with anti-aliasing turned on, and then use inspector to edit some graphics settings (I'll upload a pic of my settings in a few). The thing that annoys me most is that most add-on scenery developers don't optimise their night textures for DX10, so I fly in daytime most of the time. Good luck! You need to use only one guide for fsx tuning. You can't apply all tweaks you find, they are not working togheter. I spent many many hours (and nights) reinstalling FSX and SP's and using different tweaks and guides, but to no avail :( Toto Marchand
May 9, 201313 yr Overclocking your CPU to at least 4.5Gghz will solve your framerate issue, make sure you have very adequate cooling however as you could cook your CPU. Bryan Richards "People depend so much on automation that they forget how to get the automation to work." B.W.
May 9, 201313 yr 8x Sparse grid supersammpling is a way to much, nobody will get more than 12fps with that. Set it to 2xSGSS. (4xSGSS is ok too, but bad weather and HD clouds will killl your fps if you set SGSS to 4x) - Change "Nvidia Predefined FXAA usage" to "off" - anisotropic "filter" and "sample" optimization, both to "off" - texture filtering "trilinear optimization" to "off" - Change maximum pre - rendered fps to 1 - NVIDIA Frame rate limiter off - vertical sync to 1/2(do this only if you have monitor refresh rate 60Hz, othervise set it to "use 3d application setting"). If you get bad performance, this is becouse monitor refresh rate is not 60Hz Now start fsx, and in FSX menu - set internal FPS limiter to 30 and select anisotropic filtering. Leave anti aliasing unchecked Now, try and report your fsx performance. Why you guys don't realy read that guides? While take off about 15fps (was 7) and in cruize around 25fps (was 18). Better, but still worse then I hoped for. It seems not to be stable. I don't get that a game that is so old, cannot be run properly with todays computers. Martin Pampiermole
