  1. Styckx It's taken DTG a few years to understand , the railworks code, it's customer base, and they are much better than when you beta tested for them. They actually understand that some of thier customers, usually the most loyal and vocal ones want and demand more realism. Most of the 3rd party folks doing locomotives and rolling stock are pushing the envelope for realsim in TS2014, look Smokeboxe's next Steam Engine release the Northern, they have introduced a whole new level of realism. The biggest problem DTG had before is they didn't understand what the North American railroad sim market was about. Now they are starting to get thier heads around it, after a whole lot of begging from the users. What nobody wants to admit, is the customers who demand realism, are the most vocal on the forums, the most vocal on facebook, but a huge minority in purchasing. In just about every genre of simming the simple sim wins, TS2014 vs Run8, Run8 is by far the most realistic Railroad simulation hands down, but TS2014 out sales it tremendously . Codemaster racing titles vs iRacing. Codemasters light racing sims every time. In DCS the title that sold the most units, was FC3 with the simple aviaonics vs all the other super in depth military modules ED created combined. The Fact is DTG does understand the market, they understand who is BUYING DLC , its the simple sim guys , sad but true. So while us folks who love pushing buttons and learning systems , the average user, and the people who are speaking with thier wallet mostly just want to point click and go. Realism be dammed. DTG has done a novel approach by allowing the realistic guys have it thier way, and the simple control guys can also use the same sim by turning on and off different helpers. Dovetail is a different company for the most part than when you tested for them. You have to give them credit for that. So I'm happy that dovetail is willing to try and revive a product that came out 2006/2007, while they are not perfect, they are the ones willing to give it a go. My hats is off to them, and we should support them, just to see where this goes.
  2. Dove Tail Games is getting better at listening to the Railsim community. The Canadian Pass Route, and NEC New Haven route, have the new and much better Air Brake code in the routes, it makes for more realistic braking , is it perferct no, but DTG is getting better and allowing the 3rd party guys to start pushing the limits of realism. DTG's major problem is they are based in europe tying to build American routes, with European train handling and thinking. They have finally after years of users complaining got around to addressing the diferences in North American railroading and European railroading. They are working hard on the next version of train-simulator based on the UNREAL 4 enginge that will allow for more realistic physics, and multiplayer. Yes the EULA is tough, but there are 3rd party freeware, and paid developers workinging to make Train Simulator better. And with the announcement of going to steam I think it is a great idea, esay to distribute files and updates, and with no messy install, click on the file, and steam does the rest , installs easy and makes it easier for developers to get the latest files out to the users. What I hope they do is fully intergrate steam with FSX multiplayer capablilty. That would make multiplayer life so much easier. Good DTG, I wish you guys much success, but I hope you get some new flame proof suits, if you think the Trainsim crowd can be finicky, you have no idea how volcal this Flightsim crowd can be. 3. A visual approach can and will ease the work load of the controller, and expidite the flow of traffic into a congested airport. Please don't take offense dreighver, or other folks, but why not use the windscreen with the awesome view of the runway? Flying on Vatsim for a number of years, I'm flabbergasted as to why everyone lets the FMC fly the airplane. What fun is that? Try hand flying, it truly is much more rewarding I think, it also gives you a better understanding of what the airplane is doing when it is coupled up on autopilot. Turn the automation off and just fly.
