  1. 4 months later...

Thanks for your input, everyone!!! From what I understand, DoveTail Games is claiming to be expecting a release based off of FSX by December 2015. I'm not sure if this was a typo on there website, because if it is, it's a REALLY major typo. They should clarify it.

Other than that, DoveTail Games has kind of been quite about the whole topic, which is bothersome. But it's good to see SOMEONE (other than our community of hundreds of thousands) who cares about FSX, at least to some degree ^_^.

Until next simulator, let's hope for the best, people!

  2. I haven't been on in a while.... I just realized now that the website three posts up that you (+george3098) is simply a website you used to upload the picture. Ohhh. Now I get it. I'd still recommend the process I posted above about 9 months ago. If you still even having such a problem at this point, which I highly doubt since you haven't posted, please feel free to tell us how you solved your solution. Thanks ^_^!!!

  3. Well, basically, DTG did the exact opposite with MSTS(Kuju).... With their Railworks/Train Simulator franchise they seem to pretty much know what the're doing... Why not with MSFlight ?... Will they fall into the same trap that made a laughing stock out of MSFlight ?  As we say here in Holland " a donkey never hurts itself on the same stone "...

For me, being a pixel pilot for more than a quarter of century, the most wonderful and immersive virtual flying experience did not happen in FSX or FS9, nore in any FS itterations before that. It happend in MSFlight !

I, for one, can't wait to see what DTG will surprise us with regarding a second take-off of MSFlight. Knowing what they did with the Kuju TS i'd say we might have something to look forward too. ( basically Boeings and Airbuses are nothing but trains with wings, aren't they...   )

    cheers,

    jan  :hi:

Thanks! This is what I meant! I'd say, a lot of people are being to critical about this topic. Half of them aren't necessarily answering the question I asked. Well, happy flying! ^_^ ^_^ ^_^

  4.

Are you angry with Dovetail with something? They said that they will redistribute FSX on Steam (which is already a big plus for me) with some bug fixes and revived multiplayer (another plus for me, the little time I've spent on FSX multiplayer was enjoyable). When I get my next computer I will have to buy FSX again anyway since I'll have used the 3-machine activation limit, which version would be most logical to buy? The boxed version with the activation limits or the Steam version with enhancements?

Also you're forgetting that they'll develop a new flight simulator with Microsoft's tech, and until we see what it is, we can't say that Prepar3D is the only way to the future.

He's right! Many seem to believe that Dovetail is merely redistributing FSX. While this is true, Dovetail clearly stated that they would be developing a new flight simulation product using Microsoft's technology. So, let's put that out there now. Perhaps the comments can be a bit more question specific, now.

*For those of you who would like to disagree or agree with a statement that is from Dovetail, please provide a source to verify. Otherwise, just tell me what you think! ^_^

    ^_^

  5. Whew! it's been a long time since I posted anything on AVSIM, but I'm glad to be back! So, I would like to start off by saying hi to everyone!

    [Once again] Hi, everyone!

Let us reflect upon the great times we had and cherish with FSX. Oh, I love my FSX, but when I read articles about it, I always see the same old fact... it was first released in mid-October of, ready for this? 2006. Yep, I'm sure most of you know, but we are using an eight-year-old simulator. Nonetheless, FSX falls nothing short of awesome and spectacular for many, but we must ask ourselves... what new flight simulator can be revived with today's modern computer programming software? Even better, with the newest and higher rated companies that focus on simulations, we can get excited about what ever release should occur within the next few years. Especially with the licensing deal this past summer between Microsoft and Dovetail Games, we can not only expect something new, but something, perhaps... different. All the more, different can be a good thing!

But now, with the ideas at Dovetail well under-way for a hopefully immersive flight simulator, I will admit asking myself time and time again... how much experience does Dovetail even have in the Flight Simulation category? But I suppose they would never buy a license from one of the largest software/hardware companies in the world if they didn't know what they were doing! ^_^ #Don't sweat it

So, as a formal question with the above in mind... what are you expecting from Dovetail Games for the new and "revived" Flight Simulator Series?

    Thanks in advance for responding.

    From,

    Joe.

  6. How about this... FSX is 8 years old. No, it is not up to date, and apparently... no, it does not know it's out of date, nor can it automatically inform you of updates for it (not that there are any, really). If there is an airport and/or aircraft that you believe is out of date, then visit websites such as (copy & paste links):

    - simviation.com

    - flyawaysimulation.com

These websites offer lots of free aircraft, scenery, and much more!

    Hoped this helped :).

  7. Hello! Ever since I have started using FSInn to connect to VATSIM, I seem to be having a bit of an issue. Other than FSInn already being unstable, it seems that whenever I shutdown/close FSX, I get a message saying "Microsoft Flight Simulator X has stopped working." This make very little sense because I only shut off FSX. So, I am pretty certain that the issue is FSInn. Being that I start FSInn internally, I think Windows 7 thinks that FSX is causing the problem, and not FSInn. When I wasn't using FSInn... this never happened.

In simple terms, I am getting an error message *AFTER CLOSING FSX* telling me that the sim has stopped working. You and I both know that makes next to no sense. Help mush appreciated!

    Thanks ^_^.

    Joe.

  8. Your question is a bit confusing. By "data update," do you mean a general update? To figure that out, you'll have to individually check each product to figure out if an update is needed (via the installer).

Might I also ask what version of FSX you are using? If you're not using Gold Edition/Acceleration, then you'll probably need FSX Service Pack 1 + 2. However, if you do have Gold Edition/Acceleration, then DO NOT DOWNLOAD SP1/2... for they are already included.

Since you said you were a "newbie," I assume you've never heard of the UIAutomationCore (I believe I spelled that right). You can download it and put it in the main FSX directory to prevent the sim from crashing when accessing the Alt menu. Make sure the file is extracted! You can download it via this link:

    http://www.mediafire.com/download/mik2mlqdz1w/UIAutomationCore.zip

*Recommended - If you don't trust mediafire.com, then use the following link. Make sure you look at the "Alternate Versions" tab (click on it), and from the downloadable files, get either 32-bit or 64-bit depending on your system:

    http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?uiautomationcore

If this answer was not clear, please re-word your question. Thanks ^_^.

    Joe.

  9. Wait... I'm a bit confused by your question. You want to watch a movie during a medium to long flight? For starters, you can't watch a movie via FSX, *BUT*, to exit full-screen mode in FSX, all you have to do is press the key command Alt+Enter. From there, you should be able to see your task bar, in which you could access the internet to watch a move ^_^. Hopefully that answers your question.

    Joe.

  10. First off, I will start by saying that if you don not use a NVidia Graphics Card, this thread will have next to no use for you. For those with a NVidia Graphics card, you've probably heard of the following:

    NVidia Inspector.

NVidia Inspector, in general terms, is a tool that allows you to change internal graphics card settings for any program.

If you are aware that NVidia Inspector can be used to benefit FSX, then you will likely most benefit from this post.

If you have a NVidia Inspector graphics card, but have no idea what NVidia Inspector is, then I suggest you download Inspector via the internet. *DO YOUR RESEARCH before using NVidia Inspector to "tweak" FSX. Once your ready, make sure your graphics driver is up to ate, then follow the instructions and pictures on the following thread:

    http://forum.avsim.net/topic/324786-nvidia-configuration-guide-inspector-2xxxx-drivers-version-20-explanations-of-all-settings/

    _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Now, for those with NVidia Inspector experience....

    Does it work for you?

After researching for a long time and constantly trying to figure out how to tweak FSX to the best ability, it was not long ago, after Word Not Allowed's Tweaking Guide, that I discovered that NVidia Inspector could be used to 'squeeze' out more FPS from MS FSX. Only, after a week of anticipation that all my FSX problems would be solved, I put the proper settings into Inspector, started up FSX.. and --

    my FPS halved.

I tried using less harsh settings (below 4xS) and there was no improvement. Why? I have no idea.

So, now, I am asking of you to share you experiences with NVidia Inspector. Good or Bad? Please elaborate, and feel free to provide any advice ^_^. Thank you, and remember to post nicely with useful answers.

    Joe.

  11. +FItz505 Wow. You just defined the news media.

I would like one of those fuselages. I'll take a submarine, some rope, and the rest on this thread could take speed boats and more rope. Together, we can drag the fuselage away... without anybody noticing....

    JK, don't steal plane fuselages!!!
