  1. So I've flown the 800 a few times before but really haven't used the EFB. Today I decided to do a flight in the 800 and finally decided to use the EFB to calculate my takeoff performance for me. I was able to put in all the correct data and was able to get the proper calculations but was confused on how to understand the data. I know it give me the vspeeds and the recommended flap settings but I would also like to know if the runway I plan to use is long enough bases on the current weights and weather conditions. So would it warn me if the runway I selected is too short based on the current aircraft weight and weather conditions or do you still have to determine if the runway is long enough through other means? Also in the landing section of the performance calculator what does quick turn around weight and time mean? Thanks
  2. Hello, so I am in the process of trying to add Area 51 to the FMC and ND of the NGX using the guide I posted below starting on page 10. So far I have have been able to get it setup so I can at least enter the airport as the destination on the RTE page of the FMC but it doesn't have any info on the runways and the only way to get it to come up on the ND is to enter the airport into the LEGS page of the FMC. If I just add it to the RTE page then it doesn't show up on the ND like other airports. I figure I probably need to add the runways to the apt_rwy.dat file but not sure which format I need to enter it. When I look inside I see the info for each airport such as the runway numbers and coordinates but sometimes an airport will list the runways twice. One with RW at the beginning and again with an FS at the beginning and not sure what this means. So can anyone help me with what to do so I can get the runway info added into the FMC and to display on the ND? 3. Don't get me wrong I still love flying the tubeliners especially the fact that you can fly half way around the world in one flight buy Something about the way the plane handles and the feel of the cockpit is so fun.
  4. So I have been playing flight sims since FS98 and have mostly just flown airliners but started getting tired with them. Currently I use P3D v4 and recently tried flying the VRS Superbug again. Before I would have trouble navigating with it and have trouble landing it so didn't fly it much. Well now that I have been flying it again I have been able to learn a lot more and can now easily navigate with it as well as be able to make smoother landings and it has renewed my interest in making flights in P3D. My favorite thing to do is to takeoff from Edwards AFB with clear skies in the middle of night and just cruise around the Mojave Desert where it's just me and the stars especially when you have night vision on. I love flying around the world in large aircraft like the 747 but I have to say that this probably the most fun I have had in flightsims before and can't wait to do more. Anyone else out there like doing this?
  5. So I know this is probably a longshot but hopefully someone might be able to help. So I use the Thrustmaster X joystick from Logitech and have the controls setup in P3D so that the rudder control is set so when I twist the stick it moves the rudder . Recently I started having an issue where the joystick detects movement from this axis even when I am not touching anything. In the sim this causes problems especially when trying to taxi or fly manually as the plane will constantly be trying to yaw to the right or turn to the right when on the ground. Now for the most part it isn't a huge problem since I can still do the flight and mostly fly with autopilot but it gets annoying having to constantly fight the rudder to keep the plane straight when trying to taxi or land. Any ideas on what I can try to prevent it from doing this? Thanks
  6. So I've been watching a few tutorials online on how to make airports for P3D and want to try making my own. I already have ADE installed as well as SbuilderX. I would like to make my own personal airport somewhere in the desert's of California. Since it would be my first airport I dont expect it to be super detailed but just a simple airport with a few buildings and decent textures and a runway long enough to handle heavy's. Any good tips on going about the process and what I need to do? Thanks
  7. So I'm not sure if this is the best forum to ask this but don't know where else to post. Anyway I was wondering if there are any specific regulations or airline procedures regarding the amount of runway you should have left when you lift off the ground? For example if you were taking off from an 11,000ft runway and the calculations said you would require 10,800ft then you couldn't do it because of safety reasons. I would think there would have to be some sort of minimum to maintain safety.
  8. Hello, I am trying to do a flight in the phenom 300 for the first time and one thing I am having trouble with is getting the map to display on the middle display. The map was there when I loaded the plane but after I entered a flight plan and loaded the procedures I can't to get back to the map so I can see my current position. I tried to back out of the flight plan and procedure pages but I can't figure it out. I should mention I can see a little bit of the map but it is centered on a specific waypoint and not my current position Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong? Thanks
  9. That's good to know since I am using P3Dv4.
  10. Yes, that is exactly what I am looking for. I don't need the whole canyon as I have the scenery for that but just wanted the overlook for added detail. I actually live near there in LA and have wanted to visit it ever since hearing about it a couple of years back but at least I can fly through there in the sim.
  11. Nevermind I see on the site where this area is covered and it's a separate scenery from KEDW
  12. Is this included in the Blue Sky scenery for KEDW? I'm pretty sure I have that installed. Thanks
  13. So I want to create some scenery for P3D but don't know where to start. So in Southern California, there is a place called Star Wars Canyon where the military practices flying through the canyon and there is an overlook where spectators can watch. Basically what I am trying to create is the lookout that overlooks the canyon. It's just a small parking lot and maybe a bathroom. I have the ORBX Socal scenery which helps make the scenery better but would love to have the overlook and maybe a couple of cars. How easy would this be to do if I don't have any experience with this? The most I have done is learn how to repaint some aircraft. Thanks
  14. So I am trying to register for the forums on the VRS website but it is asking for my product license and password. The thing is I purchased the plane awhile back and for some reason going through my emails I can't seem to find any email which would contain this info. The only email I have is my receipt from Paypal which shows I made a payment to VRS but no email from VRS which has an Invoice that has this info. Is there another way to contact them as it looks like the only way is through the forums which won't let me register? Thanks
  15. Thanks, I checked it out but it doesn't look like what I remember however the name sounds familiar so maybe that is it. Thanks again 👍
  16. So I am trying to remember the name of a tool I used to have for P3D that would allow you to disable airports and scenery that you don't need for your flight so you would use fewer system resources. Anyone know what it's called thanks
  17. Hello I am trying to remember the name of a program I have seen before for P3D that lets you disable the scenery you don't need for your flight so the computer doesn't have to load all your addons that use up resources. Anyone know which program I am thinking of. Thanks
  18. Thanks for the detailed response. From what it sounds like your saying the plane is capable of fairly long ranges when running at light payload weights. For the most part, I wouldn't use it for flights longer than 5,000NM and most of my flights are usually in the 3,000-4,000 range so it should be doable in the sim even if regulations would prevent it in real life. I guess I could just use the -400 but for some reason, I really like the look of the shorter wings of D.
  19. Hello, I am curious if anyone knows what the max range is for the 747-400 Domestic when flying with very few pax? I was thinking of using this plane in P3D to simulate having my own private 747 so most of the flights I would make with it would be very light on payload weight and wonder what's the max distance I can get out of it is. Thanks
  20. It's funny cause I don't consider myself to have artistic talent either. Just had the initial idea and went from there.
  21. Thanks lol. Not only was this my first repaint but I am learning to use Photoshop at the same time so it made it even harder. Don't know what problem you're having with the Md-11 but I'm sure you will be able to figure it out so don't give up.
  22. Made a new post and followed the screenshot guidelines. Thanks
