I used black Command velcro strips. Easiest way IMO, to mount all the hardware without taking it apart to drilling holes. I used 24 strips total, 2 per corner. The housing has 6 corners. 12 for the housing and 12 for the surface you're mounting it to. A tip... Peel and stick the one side to the housing. When those are all on, go ahead and attach the surface strips to the ones on the housing without peel the paper. That helps you press all the velvro firming and evenly together without compromising the glue adhesive. Now peel and stick the yoke where you want it. Done. It takes 5 minutes. PM me for pics and I'll get them tomorrow. You may also consider the yoke from TRC SIMS. It's reasonably priced and has realistic travel. I'm considering selling my Saitek Cessna yoke and replacing with that one. I'll probably sell my yoke and throttle for $250.00 plus shipping, if anyone is interested PM me. The yoke shaft is about 8-10 inches above the knee in a Cessna 172. I will still hit my knees/legs at full aileron travel during pre takeoff checklist time, which I don't have to do in air. You may consider placing the desk on bricks or some lumber like 2x4s. I am 6' tall if that helps for comparison.

Richard, I'm quite interested in figuring out what the issue is. I'm positive I can fix it. I will be more than happy to fix it for you free of charge if you would be willing to trust a fellow avsimmer. The part or parts if I were to fix all three axis, would probably be around $6.00us. I can turn it around in about 2 weeks. Feel free to PM me if you're interested.

I have since realized that. Thank you very much for trying to save me. To comment on Jon_aus, I have no "sim war" intentions by saying the following; I have had ALL the MS flight sims including the steam edition and boxed FSX. I prefer P3D, I have P3D Pro v2.5 which I do not need since I haven't figured out how to be in 2 places at once using sim director. Maybe I just don't know how to use it properly. Back to what I was saying, P3D imo, is superior to FSX. It's PC friendly and I have an antique 2008 machine (Intel 3 GHZ, 16G ram, GTX 650 1G). I'm running roughly 85% max graphics and keeping a steady FR of at least 30fps but jumps to 40 and even up to 60. The clouds first off are the real deal when flying through them. Plane textures in and out are so much better than FSX with shading, light reflections when you look out over the wings, realistic landing light lighting up the runway on approach, IMO. It's definitely worth trying out if things like that make a difference. The academic version is what I would think most of would need unless your running a flight school. Xplane's flight dynamics are slightly more authentic IMO. You can actually do spin training. Sorry for all the IMOs but I can not be absolute as so many have different preferences and opinions. I am not a P3D spokesperson. God help us with disclaimers and political correction. haha I think I messed the quote thing but see above if I did. My last comment was for you.

Formation Flying

Thanks Dave, Ill be looking into it. I can see how the close proximity could be problematic. How close have you been able to get? I'm not sure I could fly military style formation flying anyway. Maybe a 100'-200' would be ideal I guess. When a group of us go flying real world, we maintain safe visual separation at roughly 50'-150' apart as we are not trained to fly a formal formation. I am looking to do the same on the sim if allowed on Vatsim. All your info is very much appreciated. Thanks again! -
I had a feeling about that. The only reviews I've seen seems to be seller propaganda. I have the all 3 platforms and P3Dv2.5 is my primary. I was just looking for something like the old "Fly!" sim. I loved that one. I've owned every sim out there. Name it and I've had it. But it seems sims like Fly! is just too difficult for the average simmer. You really had to know how to start a plane as every switch was functional.

Formation Flying

I would like to fly close formation but I'm really up for about anything. I wasn't able to find much in those regs you posted about non-military or non-commercial formation flying. I'm interested in the shared cockpit flying and the group flights. What does a shared cockpit flight entail? My weekend flying is just about non-existent. I have almost the entire DHC line from the turbo beaver up to the 800-Q400(freeware), ATR 42&72, 737, 321, C130, B1900, P3D v2.5 stock, FSX stock, and many more. Though I don't have the more popular jetliners like 757, 767, 777, 787. They are just too much $ for me right now. Sorry for all the edits, I am really tired. -
Anyone have experience with VP3D. For what it offer it seems like a good deal. I'm seen vague searches of the platform maybe being supported by Vatsim. Not sure if that has any validity but that would be pretty nice. Fully functional cockpits meaning everything is clickable and functions as it would in a real plane. Thank for your feedback!

100% of my time on P3D. 700+ logged hrs on it this year. Only because I got hurt at work and had to have back surgery. I have all three platforms but I love how P3D isn't so taxing on my cpu. I can run multiple programs simultaneously, nav, flight plan, weather engine software with high graphics and it still runs nice and smooth. I'm interested in Virtual Pilot 3D, but haven't bitten the bullet yet. It looks ok but the only stuff I find on it seems to be seller propaganda. No unbiased reviews. For the price, the features, number of included aircraft and fully interactive cockpits (every button is clickable and is functional). Reminds me of the "Fly!" series which was an awesome platform.

I assume once I get to it I should be able to visually inspect it for any problem. Very true, I apologize for throwing my experience in there, I didn't mean to come across that way. Each time or at least most of the time I check weight and balance, but this issue is consistent across the array of aircraft I have. I am using P3D Pro v2.4 As far as adding FFB to the yoke, it is possible, however the only sketches/ideas I come up with are unsightly and requires cutting into the housing. You are so right, it's definitely not suited for this type of mod. May be more trouble than it's worth. Haha I understand. I have tried this to no avail. Will you be willing to part with the yoke? It's plugged directly into to the main port. Thank for posting the precise instructions, very helpful. Unfortunately it did not fix the issue.I'm testing a brand new one to compare and will post findings.

I have plans to build a magnetic actuating yoke that will not cost $1200 and have up to around 10 pounds of resistance and my goal is to price it around $200 U.S. But need help writing the software. I'm sick of the yoke makers building yokes, promising consumers prices and then selling them at nearly untouchable prices. Those of us who's wives would kill us if we spent anymore money on our passion/hobby or $1200 for a single item for our hobby kinda guys. Uhhh... it makes irritated just thinking about the prices of these yokes that do not cost even a eighth of the price to manufacture. I'm a real world pilot and I still fly my sim because it keeps me proficient and I feel like I never take time off from flying a real plane. Most of flying anyway is habits that are ingrained to the point of being a reflex, I'm a checklist n4zi and they are you're best friend in a plane, but having the realism of accurate yoke inputs and forces just adds to the OH YEA!!! of flying. So your on approach at night with trees surrounding the runway (literally looks like someone cut a rectangle out of the trees and dropped a runway) and you see the threshold coming into view under the glow of the landing light. As you dip below the green tops you start flat descending and at a scary rate. That upwind flow that let you make a nice, slow approach abruptly dissipates. You pull back only to hear the stall horn, you FEEL a lot less resistance on the yoke than before. Then you slam the throttle through the firewall and that control resistance comes back just in time to blacken up those stripes a little more. True story, my scariest experience yet. If you can use the plane again, it was a good flight. Anyhow, thats the experience I want to achieve with a yoke but at a wallet friendly price.

Has anyone been experiencing the siatek pro flight yoke or any yoke roll right without input? I'm a real world pilot and am aware of the flight physics and forces of an airplane. Does not matter wind speed or direction, power settings, null and sensitivity settings, nothing helps. I've tried removing and reinstalling the drivers. Could it be the position sensors? Can they be replaced or upgraded? I have plans to build a magnetic actuating yoke that will not cost $1200 and have around 10 pounds of resistance and my goal is to price it around $200 U.S. But need help writing the software. I say this because my test subject is going to be the siatek pro yoke and I want to use different sensors. Can I rewrite the driver to accept the new sensors? If so can someone help me?
