  1. Hi, I have FSX Steam Edition as a single sim setup. I dont have any ORBX Scenery except one (Friday Harbor) which is currently downloading from steam. Not yet installed Regards Dreamaero
  2. Hi everyone, By AI Traffic problem I mean to say, there is some LOD (Level of Detail) problem I think. Take for example, I selected Ultralite Trike aircraft and the airport I selected was Dubai (OMDB) default airport, I was standing on runway 30 L and when I saw the gates in Virtual Cockpit view I could not see a single aircraft till I went near them but I switched to external views I could clearly see them even while I was on the Runway. It seems to be a LOD problem I guess, my LOD settings sliders are on extreme right. I did not suffer from this problem while using FSX boxed version. Anyways I will do some more research on this and revert back its too early to say what must be causing this problem. I have however enabled the "preview DX10" and disabled aircraft casts shadows on itself option. I encountered 2 other problems but have fixed them, they were reduced AI Traffic at the airport even though my AI Traffic slider was at 100%. But I will be installing World Of AI traffics soon so this is not a problem. 2nd problem was the flickering and disappearing of taxiway and runway markings at airports. but I managed to fix this issue as well by downloading a small patch called "FSX DX10 shaders". Apart from the above problems I am very much happy with the performance of FSX Steam edition. Still there is more to come as Active Sky Next and Rex 4 Texture Direct will be installed soon as they are currently on steam downloads. :-) Regards Dreamaero
  3. Hi, Merry Christmas to everyone. I would like to thank all of you for all the help and advice you have provided me for installing FSX Steam. I successfully installed FSX Steam on my system and I am quite satisfied by the performance. It installed like a breeze and automatically installed all the simconnects and the legacy installers. I have not yet installed all the addons that I bought today from steam, I will install them one by one and check with FSX performance, I have kept the Scenery settings to extreme right with Billinear filter and Anti aliasing disabled I have also kept the level of detail slider to large (Extreme right) and checked marked DX10 Preview. But I have encountered a small problem I cannot see the Ai traffics parked at the gates till I go near them, the same happens with jetways. This is the case when I switch to VIrtual Cockpit. But when I switch to external view I can see the ai traffics and jetways even when I am far away from them. This never happened in the FSX boxed. Has this happened to anyone of you. I need help on this. Also should I use Scenery Config Editor with FSX Steam. Is it compatible with Steam. I am asking this because I used it with the boxed edition so I want to know if there is a need for this with FSX Steam as well. Merry Christmas to all of you and Thank You once again Happy Flying, Dreamaero
  4. Hi all, Thanks for the reply Bill  I will install all the addons in a phased manner. Regards Dreamaero
  5. Piper Aztec panel images can be found here... http://www.airdailyx.net/fsnewsbreaker/2015/9/7/aeroplane-heaven-piper-aztec-update I have not yet bought the Aztec, I am planning to buy soon. Dreamaero
  6. Hi all, I too believe that a single sim setup will be more beneficial. I came across this wonderful pdf which gives an insight into the detailed installation process of FSX Steam as a single sim setup or dual sim setup. It also outlines what consequences may arise of having dual sim on the machine. The pdf too recommends a single sim setup. I have gone through it and have understood that a single sim setup would be more convenient in the short and long term. You can find the pdf here: http://fsrijnmond.airworld.nl/FSX%20Steam%20se/How%20To%20Install%20FSX-Steam%20Edition.pdf The future lies in steam and many developers might discontinue their addon development for FSX Gold. In a day or two I will start the fsx steam installation process on my system. I will revert back soon. One small query, This is the first time I will be using fsx steam, so how many frames per second can I expect on steam, will I have to tweak it or is it already enhanced. Will it be able to handle addons like, FS2Crew RAAS Professional, A2A Accu Feel, Active Sky Next, Rex 4 Texture Direct, PMDG 737 Ngx (Steam Compatible) Concorde X (When it becomes steam compatible in the future) My system is: Intel Core i7 4790 @ 3.60 Ghz 16 GB RAM Nvidia Geforce GT 610 2 GB Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit Regards Dreamaero
  7. Hi Mark, Currently my FSX boxed is installed on the F: Drive which is exclusively reserved for FSX. Its 195 GB in size. What I plan to do is, shift the boxed version to my H: drive which is 650 GB, yes...its too big  , but FSX boxed wont be alone here, it will be sharing this drive with all my other games as I intend to only use it for Concorde X, I wont be installing any other addons to it. On the G drive (195GB) I will install my FSX Steam... but I have read on the steam forum that FSX Steam Edition requires continues internet connection to play. Is this the requirement for free flight as well. I think it must for multiplayer sessions am I right. I posted a message to Flightsim labs about the Concorde X steam release, they are busy with the A320X and Concorde X is currently under beta testing :-) Regards Dreamaero
  8. Hi  Thanks for the prompt reply Mark and Andy, The Pmdg 737 Ngx and Concorde X are the only addons I have for the FSX Gold Edition. Apart from them I use ai traffic packages from World of AI. I will use FSX Gold only for flying the Concorde X while my Pmdg 737 Ngx will be using FSX Steam. I read about the dual install on the steam forum and came across this thread, please have a look at this link: https://steamcommunity.com/app/314160/discussions/0/530646080866011815/ A small query, does World of AI work on FSX Steam?. Regards Dreamaero
  9. Hi friends, I have FSX Gold and FSX Steam but I have only the Gold installed on my PC. I have PMDG 737 Ngx and Concorde X I want to migrate to FSX Steam as I have various addons lined up for the steam. Concorde X is still not steam compatible so I am a bit hesitant to move to steam without it. And since I have spent most of my time with the Gold I just dont feel like closing my association with the Gold Edition. So I have planned to retain my FSX Gold as my secondary Simulator and Steam as my Primary Simulator. This way I will keep Concorde X on Gold and rest of my addons except Concorde X on Steam. So my query is: 1) Can FSX Gold and FSX Steam be installed on the same system?. 2) I wish to keep FSX Gold on a separate drive with all my other games installed and steam will be on a separate drive which will be exclusively reserved for steam. Currently FSX Gold is on a separate drive reserved for it. 3) If the above 2 questions are "yes", which Sim should I install first, FSX Gold or FSX Steam as I fear steam should not overwrite config files meant for FSX Gold. Sorry for writing so long.. I need your guidance Regards Dreamaero
  10. Hi Philipp, Thanks for the reply and sorry for replying so late. I read the review of both the products and found them to be very interesting. They are absolutely a must have. :-) Regards Dreamaero
  11. Hi friends, I was planning to buy REX 4 texture direct for my fsx steam but after I saw Active Sky Next also available on steam, I have decided to buy both. But there is a confusion, I would like to know what they individually do? Are both of them weather simulations that enhance the weather in fsx. REX I think is related to textures and clouds, this is why I am very confused between both. Apart from the PMDG 737Ngx and Concorde X (will soon become steam compatible) I do not own any addons, these will be by first weather addons. I will be migrating to steam edition once the Concorde X becomes steam compatible hence I am purchasing these addons in advance. Will active sky Next work fine on my PC, my PC specs are as follows: Intel Core i7 4790 @3.6Ghz GPU : Nvidia GT610 2GB RAM: 16GB OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bits FSX Steam Addons: Pmdg 737 ngx and Concorde X On FSX Gold I get 30 fps with Pmdg 737ngx and Concorde X after a minor tweak, before that it was 25 fps. What fps can I expect on steam with ASN and all above mentioned addons. Another query is, Will ASN work with REX 4 Texture Direct. FS2Crew RAAS Professional, A2A Accu Feel and FSX HD Trees are next on my purchase list so I want to know if ASN can work along side these addons as well :-) Happy Flying :-) Dreamaero
  12. Hi Kyle, Thanks for the additional information on Accu Feel. I was planning Accu Feel because I want some sound enhancements on my 737Ngx like that of Tire Screeching, etc. I dont want to change the flight dynamics as I am very happy with the default FSX Flight dynamics. Is there any option in the NGX where I can get the sound of the Tire screeching on landing. Also I want to add some flight announcements to my NGX so I can make my NGX experience as realistic as possible. How can I achieve this if this is possible for NGX. Take care :-) Regards Zahed Bangdiwalla
  13. My NGX sound problem has been resolved. I installed the 2010 Runtimes and selected my sound device (Realtec HD Audio) in the FSX sound settings and the sound was back :-) Happy Flying and sorry for the late reply. :-) Zahed Bangdiwalla (DreamAero)
  14. Hi Kyle and Michael, Thanks for the reply, I agree reformatting is truly a waste of time but I keep format as a last resort when all other options to restore my PC fail. :-) 4 Months ago my PC suffered a "Bootbcd" error no idea what it is but some troubleshooting helped me overcome the problem. Otherwise the danger of format was looming high. Since then my PC performance has decreased. One of my HDD has developed bad sectors as well. However my FSX and NGX is running as smooth as cake :-) Just love flying this bird. Planning to buy FS2Crew RAAS Professional and A2A Accu Feel specially for NGX once I migrate to steam :-) Happy Flying Zahed Bangdiwalla :-)
  15. Hi friends, Due to work commitment I was not able to access my FSX PC for a very long time. I did not yet download the 737ngx steam installer service pack 1D as I am waiting for my other bird (Concorde X) to become steam compatible. I plan to completely migrate to FSX Steam and set aside the box version. So I will install both the birds into steam and then start afresh once the Concorde X becomes steam compatible. I have a question relating 737 NGX . My Query for NGX is: After I install the 737 NGX installer service pack 1D will it permanently remain associated with my steam account like other steam games do or will I have to keep on reinstalling it every time I format my PC or so?. I own the boxed version of the NGX. Happy Flying, :-) Zahed Bangdiwalla
  16. Thanks Michael... I will try that on Sunday  Thank you very very much Sir. FSX Steam..........here I come    Regards Zahed Bangdiwalla
  17. Hello, I reside in India and I need help downloading the update Service Pack 1d that will make PMDG 737NGX compatible with the FSX Steam Edition. I own a boxed edition of PMDG 737 Ngx, which I bought online from Flight 4 Fantasy (through Flipkart India Limited). To download the service update from the PMDG support download section I need to open an account. I tried to open but it is asking me for my order no. which we get from PMDG when we place the order. But I have not bought it from PMDG directly, so how will I be able to open the account and download the service update 1d. I need your help in this regard. Please guide me. All help appreciated. Regards Zahed Bangdiwalla
  18. Hi Kyle, Thanks for the reply. I am very sorry for the long delay in replying as I was vacationing and hence away from my FSX System. I will do as said and revert back on the same. I forgot to mention that I have not installed the Microsoft Runtimes June 2010 on my system. It was there when I was using a 32 bit Windows 7 Ultimate on my old system (I recently upgraded my system to Core i7 with 16 GB Ram and so I upgraded to a 64 bit version of Windows 7) But that time I did not had PMDG 737NGX so I cannot say if the sound problem is due to the runtimes. I got the PMDG 737 after the system upgrade which was around last month. I will do as said and revert back by Saturday. One small question... I am planning to buy FSX Steam Edition, so will my PMDG 737NGX work on the steam Edition of FSX. I had read on the forums that PMDG is working on releasing an installer that will make PMDG aircrafts compatible with FSX Steam Edition. If the installer is ready how will I get it, do I need to purchase it. Thank You. Happy Flying! Regards Zahed Bangdiwalla (DreamAero)
  19. Hi Friends, First I wish to thank PMDG for making such a wonderful aircraft.. I really love flying this beautiful bird. My PMDG 737NGX has however encountered a small problem related to sound. Everything is working fine except the sound. I can hear the engine sound however but I cannot hear the following sounds: -The sound of the panel buttons when clicking -The sound of conversation between the captain and the ground crew during aircraft pushback -The sound of the v-speed callouts during takeoff and the radio altitude callouts during landing and the gpws warning sound also does not come. -The sound of the air conditioners also does not come. When I checked the sound settings in the PMDG setup through the FMC, there are none of the sound device listed, the screen is completely blank. I am using Altec Lansing sound system with 2 speakers with Realtek HD Audio. Apart from PMDG 737NGX I am using the Concorde X and its sound is working fine. I have the disc version of the PMDG 737NGX and installed it directly by running the setup.exe file. All features are running fine except the above listed sounds. I will be very thankful if someone can help me get back the missing sounds of my beautiful bird... Thank you Happy flying  Zahed Bangdiwalla (DreamAero)
  20. Hi, Thanks for the reply Chuck, Its now clear that the speakers wont do any harm to the LCD Monitor, but vibrations from the sub woofers will to some extent. I am using altec lancing 2.1 speakers since around 4 years and have kept the sub woofer along with both speaker below the table and the system is running fine. however the sound quality is little low as the speakers are inside the table a quite low. SO i want to keep them above so that the sound will improve Vibrations are there but to reduce the effect of the vibrations on the CPU should I keep the subwoofer on a thermocol sheet. I would like to give a brief idea of how my system is set up on the table: On the Table Top lies.................LCD Monitor and a Wifi Router On the middle row lies................APC UPS (Uninterupted power supply battery) On the last row lies....................Sub Woofer and 2 speakers On the right side lies the CPU As I said I want to place both the speakers beside the LCD Monitor along the the Wifi Router The middle row will occupy the Printer The last row will be occupied by the Sub woofer and the APC UPS (Uninterupted power supply battery) I will be placing the sub woofer on top of a thermocol sheet will it be fine. And will placing the sub woofer beside the APC UPS (Uninterupted power supply battery) cause any problem to the sub woofer. This is all I need to know. Take care  Happy flying Regards DreamAero
  21. Hi, I need an advice regarding my speaker, sub woofer and printer placement. I have an Altec Lancing 2.1 Speakers with a sub woofer. I am using an Acer 19" LCD Monitor. Currently I have kept the Speakers and the sub woofers below my APC UPS (as there are frequent fluctuations in power supply). I recenly upgrading to Core i7 (my old system was a Core 2 Duo, I have only upgraded the CPU rest of the parts I have retained of my old system), I am planning to keep my speakers next to the LCD Monitor, but I will keep the Sub woofer next to the APC UPS. In such placement, will the speakers harm my LCD Monitor and will the APC UPS harm the sub woofer in any way or should I continue with my present setting. My APC UPS is currently placed in the middle row of the table...I am planning to shift it with the sub woofer below and its place will be occupied by the printer. I am sorry to ask this type of question here, but I really need some advice as I have read that speakers and sub woofer have magnetic components in them and they can harm the PC. Please guide me in this . All help appreciated Happy Flying, Regards DreamAero
  22. Hi, Thanks Bert. Frame rates are low I too agree, in the FSX settings the fps is set at 20, but the frames never exceed 18. Anyways, this sunday I will be upgrading my system. Looking forward to FSX experience on Core i7. Keeping my fingers crossed  Happy Flying Regards DreamAero
  23. Hi Friends.. Thanks a ton for your replies  I feel sad to the fact that FSX is a 32 bit Application and cannot benefit from Multi -Threading. I understand my graphics card is an entry level card, but I am satisfied with its performance on my current system, a Core 2 Duo 2.8 Ghz. I am getting a frames of around 15-16 at medium settings. But, I am not using any high detail addons from Aerosoft or any Addon Weather like REX. I only use default airports and almost all World of AI Traffics. I do get OOM Errors when I visit some very high detail default airport like Heathrow or JFK in FSX on a medium setting. My Graphics setting never exceeded past medium and my Autogen never went beyond normal. If at all they did, I got OOM's My goal of upgrading the system is only to play FSX. I like only to fly the aircraft. I do not intend to use any high detail addons with FSX on my new system, but only the World of AI traffics of all major airlines plus the default FSX Traffic (Airline and General Aviation). Just to play FSX on my new system I bought PMDG 737NGX and Flight Sim Lab Concorde X, so that I can fulfill my goal. I only want to fly both my new birds. I would be spending less time on the ground and more time Cruising so I dont think I will buy any high detail addon and use FSX only with the deafult Airports but at the high graphics settings and Autogen and majority of AI Traffics  I hope my new PC passes this test, I will be very happy if it does. Its sad to hear that FSX has got very old and we cannot push it hard. Some compromises are required some where in terms of Graphics  For which I am ready Thanks for giving me your time. I appreciate all the advice you all have given me. I value them very much. Happy Flying. Regards Dreamaero
  24. Hi friends, I am new to Avsim forum, I am happy to be on this forum. I need advice relating to my system upgrade. I am a die hard fan of FSX which has become an integral part of my life. Its only for FSX that I am upgrading my system for which I require your advice. My Current system Spec: Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 2.80Ghz. 3 GB DDR2 RAM GPU : Nvidia GT610 2GB OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 32 Bit FSX performs fine with only default aircrafts and traffic at medium settings. I get around 19 to 20 fps with above specs I am planning to Upgrade my system to: Intel Core i7 4790 3.6Ghz (I dont wish to overclock it in the future) 16GB RAM GPU : Nvidia GT610 2GB (I wish to retain the GPU from my old system) OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit My Expectation from the new system: I want to play FSX with PMDG 737NGX and Flight Sim Lab Concorde X with all World of AI Traffic packages and default high detail fsx airports on maximum settings. I might use aerosoft airport addons in the future. Will I be able to fulfill my expectation, if not what will be the ideal fps and setting that I can expect with the above system config. Will my Concorde X aircraft work smoothly on this system config. I have one more query, The intel i7 4790 processor that I am planning to buy is based on haswell architecture, somewhere on the net I have read that it heats up very fast and consumes more power than the Ivy Bridge processors. However there are adequate fans in my cabinet to cool it down but does it heat up as the AMD processors do. Is that true. Please guide me. All help appreciated. Regards DreamAero
