  1. Hi all, back again. This is what I'm considering at the moment. Would like your thoughts. PCPartPicker Part List: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/BTB8Ft CPU: Intel Core i7-9700K 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor (£346.69 @ Amazon UK) CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15S 82.52 CFM CPU Cooler (£71.19 @ Amazon UK) Motherboard: Gigabyte Z390 AORUS PRO WIFI ATX LGA1151 Motherboard (£194.45 @ Box Limited) Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory (£84.09 @ Amazon UK) Storage: Samsung 970 Evo 500 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive (£100.80 @ CCL Computers) Storage: Samsung 860 Evo 1 TB 2.5" Solid State Drive (£113.77 @ Amazon UK) Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER 8 GB GAMING OC Video Card (£509.99 @ Amazon UK) Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro ATX Full Tower Case (£87.94 @ CCL Computers) Power Supply: EVGA 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Home OEM 64-bit (£83.00 @ Amazon UK) Total: £1591.92 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2019-09-15 07:39 BST+0100 I used the outervision website to see what kind of PSU it recommended me, it came to a 650W PSU. When I looked at the recommended PSU for that RTX 2070 Super, it also said 650W. So this is the one I am thinking of getting: https://www.amazon.co.uk/EVGA-Modular-Power-Supply-210-GQ-0750-V3/dp/B017RO39TK The 750W PSU is only £5 more than the 650W, I might as well go with the 750W then? Lastly PCPartPicker gives me a compatibility note saying: The motherboard M.2 slot #1 shares bandwidth with a SATA 6.0 Gb/s port. When the M.2 slot is populated, one SATA 6.0 Gb/s port is disabled. I don't understand what that means, googled it I believe I should be fine. Since my motherboard I've chosen has 6 SATA ports I believe. Thanks again.
  2. Thanks for all the replies so far. Will give you an updated list of what I'm thinking of building: Tower Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro Motherboard: Gigabyte Aorus Pro Z390 CPU: i7 9700K CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 Thermal Paste: Noctua NT-H1 thermal compound Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER Windforce OC 8G GDDR6 Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Home RAM: Corsair 16GB DDR4 Vengeance LPX 3200MHz Memory Kit for Skylake - https://www.scan.co.uk/products/16gb-(2x8gb)-corsair-ddr4-vengeance-lpx-black-pc4-25600-(3200)-non-ecc-unbuffered-cas-16-18-18-36-xm?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIvqCsoNqK5AIVCZ3VCh2n0gJGEAQYAyABEgJSiPD_BwE What do you think of my choice of RAM? Is it a suitable choice that goes well with the rest of my components so far? On the SSD, I can't make up my mind if I should just go with one 1TB ssd, as I'm not someone who plays a lot of different games at once. On previous PCs, I probably would only have 3 or 4 games installed at a time. When I'm done playing a game that is not flight sim I tend to uninstall. I like to keep my PC clean of unused applications. When it comes to P3d I'll eventually get some of the orbx scenery, PMDG 737 + 747, maybe the FSlabs airbus. I also like playing DCS. So I'm thinking with P3d and DCS, and 2 other non flight sim games like the Formula 1 game for example, maybe just the one 1TB SSD would be sufficient for me. I've kept the NH-D15 the same for now. But would the NH-D15S be fine to use when i come to overclock the CPU? Will leave the Power supply unit choice to last once i decided on everything else. Thanks again.
  3. Thanks for the quick replies! Any idea of what sort of RAM speeds, timings i should be looking at?
  4. Hi there, In a couple of weeks I am looking to build a new gaming PC. In the past on my previous PCs I have only upgraded the RAM so building from scratch will be a first for me. The PC that I would like to build will be primarily used for gaming, don't really see myself becoming interested in content creation, streaming or video editing. I already have a monitor that I used on my last PC (not sure if its 1080p, definitely wasn't 1444p anyway). Which by the way, I'm not going to be reusing any parts from. The last week I've have been looking into CPUs and graphics card and have sort of an idea what I possibly want but would like advice on pretty much everything. So far I am thinking: Motherboard: MSI MPG Z390 GAMING EDGE AC ATX LGA1151 CPU: i7 9700K - Probably overclock at some point but later in the future. CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 82.5 CFM CPU Cooler Thermal Paste: Noctua NT-H1 thermal compound Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER Windforce OC 8G GDDR6 Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Home - Guess I might as well go with the home version than the pro version? Thats how far I have got. So I need advice on what RAM to use and also SSD. Believe its better to have operating system on one and games installed on another ssd drive? Power supply unit too, I'm not sure what I'm going to need. Lastly, looking for a tower case with good airflow, not too worried about the fancy lighting you can get. Someone recommended me the Phanteks ECLIPSE P350X on another forum where I asked for advice. If you think I should consider anything different, then let me know. Thanks
  5. Hi there, I have REX Essential Plus and was using this as my weather engine until yesterday when I decided to download Active Sky Next to try it out for 7 days as I'm thinking of purchasing. Have a question about the minimum and maximum cloud draw settings found in ASN and how I should set them since I'm using REX for textures now. When I first set up my settings for REX I read the manual and on page 11 of the PDF I have it states this about the cloud draw setting within FSX: Cloud draw distance instructs FSX how far to draw clouds. If the setting is set to full-right (110mi), the cirrus clouds will appear cut-off in the distance. Backing this off to 100mi will rectify this issue, still giving a great distance to view clouds. In my FSX settings I have set Cloud Draw Distance to 100mi/ 160km. Now when I come to my ASN settings, what do I use as the minimum and maximum cloud draw distance? Does changing these settings within ASN affect the FSX setting? I'm thinking of putting both minimum and maximum to 100 in ASN. Another question about REX since I'm using ASN weather engine. I disabled the REX weather engine, does this mean the settings in REX for visibility, winds and clouds are also disabled and not active in my sim. I don't want it to be conflicting with ASN. I want to use REX for textures and ASN for weather but am not entirely sure what changes to settings I need to make within REX so that REX is no longer being involved with the weather. But like I said, I've disabled the weather engine in REX so maybe I have done it correctly. Thanks!
