  1. @Christopher Low I had overclocked to 4.5GHz, but returned to normal as a precaution so that I could sort out this problem, I will be increasing back to this speed again. The problem with the OOM crashes is definitely solved now, thanks to everyone that helped with some really useful info! Could anyone give me some rough reccomended settings that work with GB south and wont make the textures look horrible or miss out too much? My current settings are: https://pasteboard.co/IrVyxRl.png https://pasteboard.co/IrVyVCW.png https://pasteboard.co/IrVzk9J.png Thanks, Matthew
  2. I've been wanting to upgrade to the latest windows 10, but as the upgrade only wants to download on C and I havent enough space i've never been able to get it, I guess this will help with that aswell!
  3. @WarpD I guess p3d and fsx have only ever been the more mem heavy programs that i've used @Mace i'll definitely try it without spotify to start off with, then if i can afford to have it open with little performance impact i'll use it Cheers again, Matthew
  4. Thanks for the fast replies everyone, In the event viewer I found a warning about virtual memory which read: "Windows successfully diagnosed a low virtual memory condition. The following programs consumed the most virtual memory: Prepar3D.exe (1220) consumed 11534729216 bytes, utl_client.exe (9336) consumed 940777472 bytes, and Spotify.exe (11268) consumed 199094272 bytes." So with this i've bought a new SSD with 240gb instead of the 60gb that I have now for my boot drive. I will clone the OS over and re-test to see if it solves my problem and I will report back. @w6kd I am using high-def clouds from REX, high-res terrain option is set to off and i'm using 1024x1024 Thanks, Matthew
  5. Hi, Specs: i5 4690k @ stock 16gb DDR3 1866MHz GTX 1060 6GB Addons tested with: FTX Global, England, GB South UK2000 Gatwick PMDG 737NGX UTLive GSX, GSX Level 2 Basically my Prepar3D v4.3 crashes as the scenario loads giving me the "p3d ran out of memory" box. When I am monitoring the situation on task manager's resource manager, just before the crash the ram used is only on 10.3GB out of 15.9GB. The VRAM is also only at 5GB out of 6GB. The oom is sometimes followed by my entire screen going black and then turning a grey colour where music and things still continue in the background but the PC is unusable and I have to do a forced restart. I have a feeling that this is a virtual memory error, but I am posting to see if there are any other errors that people have had before? Please don't recommend to just not use FTX GBS, it's memory intensive but it cost money and is nonrefundable, plus the spec lists all say that it can run with 16gb of ram. Thanks in advance, Matthew
  6. @downscc Thank's for your reply! Yeah, I have reset the vector control panel, played around with settings and completely re-installed vector. That was the first thing I did as before I purchased all of them I read up about the layers of scenery. I will try the ORBX forum
  7. Hi, I've had countless problems with P3Dv4 since moving over from FSX, mostly with scenery and performance. One problem is that with FTX Global, my roads are missing, and global isn't loading outside of the UK. This photo shows the UK2000 road that doesn't line up with the ORBX scenery like it did in FSX and on the right the only ORBX road that displays properly. To the right of this, there is a great grass patch where the road should be with cars driving on it. This shows a part of scenery that is missaligned and blurry which I get everywhere This is a more clearer example of a missing road So far I have tried completely re-installing each ORBX addon to no luck. My performance is generally good but the sim freezes for a second a lot, especially in takeoff which is annoying. If anyone has any suggestions on how to fix any of these problems and how best to optomise P3D for the best performance for my PC it would be a great help! My PC: i5 4690K @ 4.5GHz GTX 1060 3GB 8GB 1866MHz RAM 1TB HDD <--- P3D is here 60GB SSD <--- OS is here My Setup: ORBX Global, OpenLC Europe, Vector, Trees PMDG 737 NGX Aerosoft Airbus Professional UK2000 Gatwick REX Sky Force 3D + Texture Direct + Soft Clouds Chaseplane <-- Uses 30% CPU for some reason Ultimate Traffic Live GSX My FSX here looks amazing and is really smooth so I am aiming for better than this as P3D should run better than FSX on my machine as it takes advantage of newer hardware much better. Thanks in advanced, Matthew.
  8. I also now receive black chunks of textures that load only when I fly directly over them also. Any ideas on a fix for that? Matthew.
  9. Thanks to everyone for all of the help, it seemed the more intense freezes were caused by something that has been corrected by something I have tried during the starting from barebones process that @Jim Young and @Mace suggested! I still get microstutters but as long as it's not freezing it looks great! The problem I have now is that flying over ftx global roads, they all appear as a grass texture where the road should be? I have tried rebuilding the generated files in case of a corruption and also have tried different settings in VECTOR to which there has been no hope! Anyone heard of this before? Thanks again, Matthew.
  10. @Jim Young I will try to rebuild and run on defaults and see what happens, thank's for your help!
  11. @Jim Young Do you have any other Ideas as to what may be causing my stutters? I have tried lowering my CPU's clock speed but they remain, I have used Matt Davies' preset on PTA to which the sim looks better but the problem remains
  12. @holliwutt yes the problem is the same with default aircraft
  13. @killthespam The fps is fine for my eyes, even at a default airport, all addons off, I still get the same awful stuttering which at times when it freezes, is unbearable. I wouldn't care if the fps was 6, as long as it's smooth that's all that matters
  14. @killthespam @Jim Young As I have a 4690k which is not HT capable, I have no option to turn it on as it is a 4 core 4 thread only CPU. My dilemma is that on my system I can run FSX with the same settings for better performance which shouldn't be the case. P3D should suit my pc better because it's not so CPU intensive
  15. Here is a visual representation of what I am talking about, notice the constant freezing: The main things are: - Please don't tell me to turn the scenery down because the same thing happens with scenery sliders all at the left - CPU usage is 100% all the time but even without chaseplane when it lowers to 70%, the problem is still there - It's not smooth at all so please don't tell me to "deal with it" or "it looks good" either Video Link
