  1. MS has pushed for 3rd party compatibility w/ the Xbox a lot in the recent past. They released the Xbox Adaptive Controller just a few years ago that those with disabilities can use to connect hundreds of 3rd party controllers. The release of this was massively impactful to people who cannot use regular controllers, and is a clear indication that MS wants to build an ecosystem where 3rd party accessories are welcome. I am not suggesting that the Adaptive Controller would be the method MS would use to allow MSFS players to connect their peripherals to the Xbox, just that it has been proven out in the past that this is something MS is focused on, and that they clearly have the technology to make it possible.
  2. Took 7 posts to get to the doom and gloom response - a new record I think? Seriously, Asobo has clearly been building this game to work on both PC and Xbox, and have been doing so for a long while. Just because they will be shifting more focus towards completing the Xbox version than before does not mean that they are in any way abandoning the PC version. Most of their money will be gained through purchases of 3rd party addons to the game - they have a very clear incentive to continue to improve both versions. If you feel you made a mistake in purchasing the game too soon, then that's on you. You could have signed up for Xbox Game Pass for $1 and tried out the game - you had options. The Microsoft Game Studios/Xbox leadership and mission is not the same of old - they have made it a clear that they want to be more gamer focused in all aspects. I trust that they will come through on this.
  3. Why don't you all wait until the game releases and we get the actual install file before moving stuff around? Seems to me that going into these settings and updating stuff is more likely to hurt more than help in the future. In the Xbox app for me, it clearly gives me the option to denote which drive I want my games installed on, I selected my SSD, boom done. In response to the question from @Peter Webber about purchasing on your laptop and being able to play on your PC, the answer is yes. You have purchased a license from MS that is linked to your MS account - if you log in to the same MS account on different computers, you can download the game and play it wherever you are logged in. Logging in to multiple locations at once will cause you to be logged out of any other location, so you cannot purchase the game once and play it on multiple PCs at the same time. In addition, with Xbox Play Anywhere, purchasing the PC version of MSFS also grants you a license to download and play the game on Xbox when the game is released there.
  4. If a person wants to pre-order, then they can pre-order. If you want to wait and see how the game looks on release, then don't pre-order. Doesn't seem worth discussion beyond that.
  5. This is true - I've been very pleased with the direction that MS has moved recently. I do think in the future you will see Xbox Game Pass turn more and more into a "Netflix for Gaming" when game streaming becomes more feasible - MS knows that their main competitors in this space are Amazon and Google, and not Valve. I imagine perhaps that they are moving more into a "gamer friendly" role right now in order to continue supplying people that prefer to download and run games on their own machines, and then will service a different crowd via streaming on Xbox Game Pass.
  6. This is a very good point, and still somewhat surprises me to be honest. I think MS clearly sees that we are heading towards game streaming becoming the preferred method of game delivery in the near future, so them controlling the entire ecosystem makes a lot of sense. Perhaps they know that they aren't in a position to compete with the big platforms at the moment, so will take all revenue streams they can access.
  7. It made complete sense to me when I read it, but I think perhaps the release of MSFS will be a learning experience for many members of this forum. Even the disk version of the game will likely require an installation of the Xbox Game Store in order to execute the full install of the game, thats just how many big games are delivered to customers nowadays. MS has been very vocal in their movement of Xbox to a "platform" to deliver game content, beyond their Xbox hardware to not only PC, but also mobile gaming.
  8. By "platforms" MS is referring to digital game selling platforms, I.E. Steam, Epic Games Store etc etc. Of course, these platforms all charge a fee for each game sold, so this might just be lip service from MS about it appearing outside of the MS Game Store/Xbox Store ecosystem. With this being the case, it seems unlikely that you would be able to purchase a digital version through Aerosoft etc., as MS would likely just give them referral links (that point to MS's website) and then Aerosoft etc. get paid out per click.
