FSLabs A321Neo Released
A VS of 5000 ft/min in open climb at 250 kt is hard to believe or the plane was empty.

Legacy vs Modern Flight model
Actually that’s not exact. Legacy gives more parameters to designers. For ex you can adjust mach impact on lift which is not possible in Modern. It seems for main forces , resulting CL, Cd and Cm are about to be same computation than in P3D. Inertia, flight controls and frictions are different than in former fs. Problem is end result is excessively stable aircraft (rail behavior) and poor rotation inertia modelisation with payload (an old big still there inherited from the past). In modern, you have much less parameters. A lot of computations are semi hidden and deduced by Asobo internal models from geometric specs as per described in cfg (not graphical model). Ex camber, wing sweep, dihedral etc. Problem is the internal Asobo models are often wrong, especially when applied to an aircraft operating in high subsonic like an airliner : mach effect on lift is not modeled, drag polar are not matching real numbers, moment is tunable with only 2 points (whereas Cm vs aoa have 16 points in P3D…) FM designers have no choice but to play with parameters to find best fit + fake stuff by playing with spoilers or flight controls. Another radical solution is to go for full external FM like A2A did.

REPORTED: FSL Has Just Released Their a321 For MSFS2020
It’s the problem of fanboyism and pseudo pilots reviewing. Most of the streamers are linked to editors so definitely biased. You read too often one sim has systems far more superior compared to the other. Sorry it’s not sufficient and a sign of non professionalism. Most of these guys are just streamers and/or unemployed pilots. To be valid présent your arguments with facts and figures, demonstrate what makes one model more realistic, what makes the other less realistic. Make demonstration like a true test pilot.. Same goes with flight model. It’s funny on this point because guys pretends one is floating or « flaring » too much, the other is perfect. All this is pure marketing and blabla. Just compare models with known figures instead of flying under AP while eating burritos. Airbus Fbw is well documented in terms of gload at high speed and pitch/roll rate at low speed. Easy to test with MSFS debug tools. Performance are now all over the place and anyone can grab an FCOM and replicates real situation. Same goes for MTOW with EFATO at v1 regarding TO dist… pilots with EFB can pull the figures and do actual tests. Stalls are very interesting in direct law as well… V1 made a very interesting comparison but sometimes not enough scientifically. Maybe the other streamers affiliated to FSL can show more.

Back to the product in itself. From what I could test, flight model, engines and systems are identical as in P3D. They introduces new feature like MTBF which looks like the « super ovfy » (pseudo random based on flown time) failure function I wanted to have in P3D. Icing was there already and overdone to be honest. It’s more an ATR than a 320 which is resilient to icing. Track record never shown icing crash even on Russian 320s. They added also the MEL feature but it’s not something I am very keen on. On the other hand, I couldn’t have the WXR radar working as in P3D. Anyone? Sounds are the same old oggs. That whole package has new graphics that look below current standard we got used to with PMDG and Fenix. In the end, I feel the price really expensive for what I get: underwhelming graphics update and the loss of WXR radar. To be honest, it’s just a MSFS2020 port that worth 20 bucks max.

Reviews will come soon with side by side comparisons. Problem is streamer are sometimes tied closely to certain brands and biased the opinion. As long as reviews are scientifically done with official numbers and clear references they are transparent and valid. when it comes to feelings it’s biased.

I think it’s because they hack memory dynamically to bypass what MSFS computes on a few aerodynamics vars like they did on P3D. That’s why they are opted for legacy and not modern FM: they kept the same aero model. As soon as MSFS is updated the adresses change and they have update the hack. As long as it works, am fine with that but yeah… not the most elegant path vis a vis Asobo.
