Just in time for the weekend, we are happy to inform you that the v1.1 update for the PILOT'S Boeing B-314 is now available. There has been an extensive overhaul of the VC textures, as per the feedback we received. We have also changed and greatly improved how the flying boat now handles on water, here is short video to illustrate this: A special thanks to Stearman948713 for his tweaking of some of the contact points! I'll leave you with a few screenshots showing the new VC textures. Jerome

In case you’re not already aware, we have now released another update, PILOT’S B-314 - The Clipper v1.55 is now available! The PILOT’S B-314 for MSFS is now also available via Aerosoft, JustFlight and simMarket. The B-314 is now in the Marketplace cue, I’ve been pressing the Marketplace Team for a release ETA, and at present they are unable to commit to a specific timeline. I would like to extend a big thanks to FlyingsCool5650 for the suggested overhaul of the camera views, these how now been incorporated in this latest update! Through much trial and error we discovered that there is a bug with the Center fuel tanks. I have now recoded the fuel tank logic and replaced the two Center fuel tanks, the B-314 engines will now no longer suffer from any sudden fuel starvation due to the Center fuel tanks not feeding the engines correctly. I have also modified the Fuel Tank Gauge logic, for some reason these had originally been coded to a percentage value instead of a gallon value and thus behaved incorrectly. Many thanks again for all your valuable feedback, I trust you will enjoy this very latest update, our 6th since the initial release 6 weeks ago. I leave you with some shots of the B-314 moored at the magnificent Hamilton Island. Jerome

It’s been another very busy week for us at PILOT’S. Our 3rd B-314 update since the official first release 3 weeks ago was finalized late yesterday, I’m pleased to be able to inform you that PILOT’S B-314 - The Clipper v1.2 is now available! We’ve managed to find a solution for the mooring lines to now show when the B-314 is moored at startup in a Cold & Dark state, they should then release the B-314 once the mooring switch is in the OFF position. As per a customer request, the hide/show yoke clickspots have now been repositioned. I have also taken the hide/show copilot clickspot and moved it to the rudder pedal area, close to the hide/show copilot yoke clickspot. We have also added a new livery for the B-314A, the BOAC B-314A Bristol livery, the flag ship of the three Boeing B-314A flying boats of the British Overseas Airways Corporation - see the screenshots below! I’ve also revised the Gyropilot code, heading hold should now be a lot more robust. As previously, I welcome your feedback on this 3rd update within 3 weeks of our initial release. Jerome

I am happy to let you all know that PILOT’S B-314 - The Clipper v1.15 is now available! Numerous items have been addressed, the external exits are now animated and functional, you can open and close them by using the switches on the communications panel, which is situated to the left of the Engineer Panel at the back of the VC. The VC wing access doors are also animated and can be opened via their respective door handle. The bug fix I had put in place for the Hobbs meter seems to be working too now, I welcome your feedback on this 2nd update within 2 weeks of our initial release. Jerome

I've seen some posts regarding the gyropilot, hope this information helps clarify functionality and operability. As it currently stands, the PILOT'S B-314 for MSFS has a basic Gyropilot functionality already implemented, you just need to follow the correct procedure for it to operate correctly. If you are in the left-hand Captain's seat, you need to pressurize the Gyropilot servos by moving the small white lever forward: Once the Gyropilot servos have been pressurized, you will see that the Gyropilot pressure gauges showing this too: Now you can move to the left side, click on the armrest to make the Gyropilot master switch visible, it should show as being disengaged: Clicking on that switch will move it forward and the Gyropilot will now be engaged and active: With the Gyropilot being engaged, the altitude and heading at the time of engagement will be held. We plan to add more Gyropilot functionality in the future, in its present implementation it offers altitude and heading hold. Just as with the real B-314, if the Gyropilot servos are not pressurized, then the Gyropilot master switch will not activate any altitude and heading hold. The Gyropilot servos being pressurized is a prerequisite for altitude and heading hold to be functional via the Gyropilot master switch. Jerome

This seems to have generated a bit of heat elsewhere here, but I quite like it. It's a bit fussy to get off the water, and on my first attempt so far I had to "teleport" into the air in the end (in spite of actually reading the manual). I'll try again, more slowly, but if in the end I have to keep on doing that so be it. I'm simply not interested in f*rting around pretending to push buttons and set switches just to get my pretend aircraft off the ground (water). But I do like the aircraft, so I won't just park it in the hangar. It'll look good in all sorts of locations, and that's what I want out of this. (oh, and I just bought a couple more Captain Sim things in their weekend sale - guess I'm a reeeeaaaally bad person <grin>) Anyways, here's a couple of shots for anyone interested. Can't remember if these did the "Cape to Cairo" route or not. Got a couple of nice books on these things so I'll investigate. Even if they never did in RL, mine might!

I’m pleased to announce that PILOT’S B-314 - The Clipper v1.5 is now available! For all those eagerly awaiting release on the MSFS Marketplace, this is our Marketplace release candidate, and as soon as we have a more precise idea on when it will be available there, I’ll make an announcement here. The focus on v1.5 has been to overhaul the exterior detailing, some of the screenshots below illustrate this, and of course ready the Marketplace release. The pitch bug on the Captain side attitude indicator has been addressed and fixed too. Thank you again for all your valuable feedback, we hope you enjoy this very latest update, our 5th since the initial release 5 weeks ago. Jerome

Thank you all for the very positive and productive feedback we've received since release! I’m happy to announce that PILOT’S B-314 - The Clipper v1.3 is now available! With the help of Asobo’s input I have been able to work around the issue of LVAR values not being properly passed through to animate certain switches and dials. I have recoded the fuel dial logic and the fuel dials are now in their correct position, both when you start from Cold & Dark or from a water runway position, as per the screenshots below. The flight model has also seen some minor changes, mostly to enhance the overall heavy feeling of the Clipper, both on the water and when airborne. We hope you enjoy this latest update, our 4th since the initial release 4 weeks ago. Jerome
