Surround - Multi Monitor - Poor FPS Issue Found

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

Well, after numerous hours of testing I have found the problem for the 90% reduction in frame rates when in surround mode using multiple monitors with P3D3, well on my system anyway. Would be interesting to see if others get the same bump in performance trying the same thing.

Here is what I found, If I run P3D3 on my system: 4790K 4.0ghz (no overclock) with an Nvidia configuration (3-Titan X's) setup as Span Displays With Surround and in Full Screen Mode, I get about 11 fps no matter what I do with P3D3's sliders.

If I come out of Full Screen Mode and run P3D3 in windowed mode and take up the full screen, I get the same 11 fps. Now, If I move the bottom of the screen so it's just above the task bar... I immediately get 100fps.

It has something to do with the task bar, at least on my setup, can anyone else confirm this?.

I have the task bar hidden, but Windows 7 64bit will not hide it... Go figure.

I have 3 monitors connected to 2 GTX580 in surround mode on a W7 64bit.

No problem , no drops in framerates

Do you have expanded you taskbar over all 3 monitors or is it fixed to only the center one?

.

Cheers,
Michael

I also run a triple monitor setup with NVidia Surround. I drive the monitors with a GTX780 on W7 64 bit. No problems with drops in framerates.

I suggest you start with 1 Titan X and see if you can get NVSurround working like it should.

Then add a second Titan X and test again.

Then add the third Titan X.

Till 4 months ago I had 2 Titans in NVSurround config and it worked fine.

Perhaps a third card is the cause that NVSurround is not working correctly...
