June 17, 200223 yr Commercial Member Tim,Nearly every 757 pilot I talk to who flies this A/C says the same thing, it is extremely hard to get down. I honestly cannot remember a descent where the Speedbrakes weren't out for at least part of the descent. This is one of the trade-offs of an A/C with entirely to much power. It will climb like a banshee but it takes a lot off speedbrake to slow it back down again. :-)The automated FMC descent is typical of the 200K Honeywell FMC in that it had a hard time keeping the A/C on a proper descent profile. This was corrected with the upgrade to Pegasus which many airlines have done. Unfortunately, the A/T systm is still a little bit over zealous trying to maintain a dialed in SPD so I normally turn it off during an extended descent to keep the throttles at idle. you might want to try FL CH when descending as it works well and still uses the A/P and A/T.
