April 3, 200323 yr Hi PMDG team!I have som questions for ya regarding the 737NG.1. Ive searched for pics with the blu digits on the AUTOFLIGHT panel, only found amber digits, so witch color will be in your 737NG?2. The diffrent modes and pages on the EFIS displays, are you going to include all of them?3. The buttons on the FMC seams to have a diffren shape than in real pics, they are more round on top than the more flat ones ive seen from pics?4, Are you going to release the manual before the release of the aircraft?5. Does the FMC handel DME-arcs?I couldnt come up with more questions for now, but maby later.;) I sure looking forward to this bird of yours.:D Regards,Johan
April 3, 200323 yr Johan I can answer the MCP question, recently the honeywell A/P was replaced with the collins A/P due to software updates and to incorporate the autothrottle computer within the FCC's and to give the NG CAT3 B capability as well as future upgrades that are comming. there are not many out in service yet but They look much more like a 757/767 MCP and the digits are blue. The correct color for the PMDG version(honeywell) then would be white, changing to an orangish color as the background lights are dimmed.
April 7, 200323 yr I think I got the amber digits question sorted out with the new screens.;)I saw that the radios was a popup thing in the middle of main panel, looking kind a strange, do you provide a option looking more like the trottle quadrant?I just have one question more, the diffrent modes of the EICAS display are the all simulated?I need to get a new drooling protection for the new screens.:DRegards,JohanMy PC flyes me anywere!http://jdtllc.com/images/RCsupporter.jpg
April 7, 200323 yr Commercial Member Johan-We debated how to implement the radios for quite some time. In the end I made the finaly decision to use a pop-up radio stack only.My reasoning is quite simple:1) Although having a full radio equipped center console looks more immersive- it is much harder to use than it's real-life counter part. In the airplane, I can work with that console without losing complete spacial awareness. In the sim, the entire screen becomes consumed with the radio console and I lose all spatial awareness.2) Having the full radio console makes it very hard on those who do a significant amount of online flying. (For the above reason)3) We examined having a user choice of full console or pop-up, but this simply didn't implement well. We felt it was far more important to have a few choices for main panel layout/view (there are four flying panel positions you can choose from based on customer preferences communicated to us) than to have choices for radio console layout.... If we had implemented a full radio console- we'd have had to reduce the main panel layout to three....Hope that answers your radio question...As for EFIS layout- that question has been answered a bunch of times in the forum- check for posts by Lefteris...he is the EFIS guru! :-coolI'd strongly encourage the use of non-latex keyboard covers to protect you from drool infusion in the keyboard. The laytex versions can trigger minor alergies if you have laytex sensitivities- and I have personally tested the non-laytex covers using a very drool-oriented Golden Retriever.... The keyboard survived.... :-lolRobert S. RandazzoPrecision Manuals Development Group http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/coolcap.gifwww.precisionmanuals.com Robert S. April 8, 200323 yr Hey I have two minor questions1. If its not too much trouble i noticed the panel MCP was orange, but the other cockpit views still contain the blue digits. If its too picky thats fine I was just wondering if it would be possible to have them all match. (I.e. the forward right view still has the blue numbres)2. I notices on the speed dial on the MCP it always says A175 or A100 does that A mean its a minimum, I was just curiuos to what the A iserr two more3. Is the FMC able to do a DME arc and is it possible to get into a litle more detail about what that is, I have a basic understanding of it from LOCBC approaches but id love to know a lil more4. Do you guys know how much I love you? This plane looks AMAZING Im definately getting it right away. (No I am straight, i meant love as a figuartive way)
April 8, 200323 yr Thanks for the awnser Robert!Ok, I will look for a non latex version of the keyboard drooling cover, and the golden retriver test will do for me.:-lol When you guys showed us the first screens my keyboard shortsircut, before I knew what drooling status your screens had.:DStill my question that JamieG allso asks about, do the FMC handel DME-Arcs, is unawnserd? ;)And now to a brand new question, how do you pressent the two FMC
April 8, 200323 yr Just to let you know Southwest Airlines has 2 700's in service with the new mcp and fcc's. Also these planes are not coming with ADF anymore. Haven't seen them yet but I will soon.Chris
April 9, 200323 yr Commercial Member NO ADF!Now how are the pilots ever going to be able to get the latest baseball scores :-lol :-lolRegardsPaul:-cool Paul Gollnick Manager Customer/Technical Support Precision Manuals Development Group www.precisionmanuals.com
April 10, 200323 yr >>>2. I notices on the speed dial on the MCP it always says >A175 or A100 does that A mean its a minimum, I was just >curiuos to what the A is Jamie your right a minimum, The A ,actually a flashing A is the MCP speed condition symbol for underspeed limit,"command speed cannot be reached with aircarft in its present config" ,it works like this:when a min speed cannot be reached you get the flashing A, for example say the aircraft is on the ground everything is set up and your ready to fly, you turn on the FD, arm LNAV, and then arm a speed mode-Say "FLCH" ,speed is set to say 142 kts but there is one thing you missed, the flaps are up ,so 142 kts is slower than the flaps up limit and you get the underspeed warning flashing A.There is also a overpeed limit warning that is a flashing 8 that works like this:-Over VMO,MMO-At the landing gear speed limit-At the flaps speed limit
April 10, 200323 yr Commercial Member OK Chris-we'll take the same amount of time that Boeing took to change theirs to the new MCP and FCC's and delay the release until then........Just kidding...:-) Lefteris Kalamaras - Founder www.flightsimlabs.com
