June 27, 200322 yr i agree with Kenthere are many ways to protect the software, but a dongle would be a problem for the download versions ;)i guess no one could download the dongle :-hah X-Plane 11.3x / DCS 2.5.4 / P3Dv4.5 / Aerofly FS 2 Win10-x64 | ASUS Z270E | Intel i7-7700K @4.5GHz | Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB DDR4 | 6TB SSD Samsung 850 Pro | ASUS GTX 1080 ROG STRIX 8GB DDR5X | TM Hotas Warthog | Saitek Combat Pedals | Oculus Rift CV1
June 27, 200322 yr You might want to do what Radar Contact does - They have a dediciated email address and do a turn-around in a matter of hours and a 24/7 basis. The only way I think you will start to have a problem with your customer base is if you take more than a day. You could also use a server to generate a new SN to the email address used when the software was purchased. If the buyer chnages their email address you could use the receipt number given at the time of purchase as a verification method. The receipt number/cc number would be tied to the original email address and the server could update and generate a new SNRegards,Barry
June 27, 200322 yr Hi there, the difference with XP is, that you actually have a choice, whether you want the activation technology or not. My copy of XP doesn't require activation, installs on multiple computers, even from a copied CD - and all that with the full blessing of MS. It all depends on the licence you buy. I look at it this way: The retail version of XP is in fact a discounted version, and the customer is entitled to that discount only if he/she allows MS to annoy him/her with their activation technology/restrictions. If you want the inconvenience-free version, you'll just have to pay the full price, like I did :).Cheers,Gosta.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg
