July 14, 200322 yr What all is required to perform an autoland? I am assuming that in the 767PIC you need multiple autopilots to be active at the same time. I have yet to have but one selected and certainly have not had an annunciator showing "Autoland" or anything close. I've had to disconnect the AP at 300 ft and land manually each time I've landed the NG. I don't want to assume that the autoland is active. (BTW: I have not read all of the manuals as yet :-roll -- and haven't flown the NG for several days -- due to the presence of a houseguest x( ). I will check out the manual later this week.
July 14, 200322 yr SteveTo get an autoland you need to enable both autopilot channels and be in app mode before intercepting the glideslope from below. You will see indicators on the pfd loc/gs and flare.I`ve shot a couple of autolands and this bird handles them pretty well.Ron
July 14, 200322 yr Hi, Ron, i agree. I think that the PMDG 737 handles the autoland very very well. It's very stable on the GS & LOC with hardly any deviations.....another top job by the PMDG team!CheersJamie Blethyn, UK
July 14, 200322 yr Hi Steve, you'll have a ball autolanding with this plane. First tune both NAV1 radios to the ILS freq. Then oafter you have intercepted the localizer, arm APP mode and press CMD B on the MCP. You'll see on the PFD Dual Channel. As soon as you touchdown disengage the A/P with the disconnect bar, toggle FD off and perform the roll-out manually or you'll have a hard time getting the nose down. :-)Regards,Bjorn
July 16, 200322 yr Commercial Member Bjorn,Thought should let you know...I programmed manual override at touhdown after autoland (all axes). You will get it in the patch.Saluti,Vangelis===================================== E. M. July 16, 200322 yr Just a note, you will *not* see APP lit up in your MCP once the G/S and LOC modes become active. If you look on your PFD you will see that G/S and APP are the active roll and pitch modes, then you know your autoland will be good :-hah I am not sure, but I think that lack of having the APP MCP panel light not lit up could throw you off. It sure did for me when I first started beta testing this plane, and then it was explained to me that the mcp is the rumor board, and the PFD is the facts, or something to that effect :)
July 16, 200322 yr Ciao Vangelis, that's great news, thank you very much for leting us know. :-))Saluti,Bjorn
July 16, 200322 yr G/S and LOC active in the FMA does not equal autoland. That's just a coupled approach. I believe you need to see FLARE armed to know it will autoland.Lee Hetherington (KBED)
July 16, 200322 yr Author That's what I've never seen -- even with both APs armed. Off to read the manuals... Mom's headed home. Prepare the cockpit!Steve

I believe you need to see>FLARE armed to know it will autoland.>>Lee Hetherington (KBED)Lee, Your right, my mistake. But with G/S LOC as active pitch/roll modes, then I believe the APP MCP light will extinguish.

July 16, 200322 yr With single channel autopilot the 737NG will not autoland, you have to engage the two autopilots to autoland, and yes the APP light will go off.Anyone tryed to autoland with just one channel to see if the 737NG flare?http://forums.avsim.com/user_files/23677.jpgRegards

Charly Diaz Azcue[br /] BAW062 [br /] HC270CH Q8
[/p][/p]
July 16, 200322 yr Iron Claw -Funny, you accuse someone of not RTFM, when obviously you can't read the forum rules. Sign your post with your real name! :-rollYou are 100% out of line, sir(and if you have read any books by Richard Marcinko, you will know what I mean when I say 'I spelled sir with a c and a u') You have no right to blast anyone in this forum like that. He posted an innocent, good question, to which he got lots of answers.Seems like you sir(again with the c and the u) owe someone an apology.
