Hi,just an addon idea for every windows user... Every windows CD has a product key, no matter if registered at MS or not, but bound to the CD I have to have as copy or image for only personal use. I am not allowed to give copies to somebody else when I have bought it myself. So, this product key doesnt change when I change any system software or hardware parameter. Why not bind the protection registration process to this Windows Product Key? Someone else using kazzaa etc. must have a image of my Windows CD with the key code in order to use with MY name and MY CC number any illegal copy of PMDG addon. Would YOU give your full CC number to anybody for illegal use? Your name could be known, but not with your CC - YOUR money! So, "Windows CD Product Key" + "Customer Name" + "Customer CC Number" can create the unlock code by PMDG and is bound to the customer, whom never would give his CC number unsecure away for illegal actions! Is that a idea????

Ray,I'm not going to get into the Pros and Cons of the reason for the security, but this might help in understanding why you needed a new security code. When converting from FAT32 to NTFS the hard drive is re-formatted on the fly. When a drive is formatted it is given a new ID number. In order to identify if a package is on another machine it is logical to determine if it is on another hard drive. Consequently, it follows that this unique code generate on a Hard Disk format is used.As mentioned at the top this is not meant as a for or against answer for the security process, but why it has requested a new code. Hope it helps.RegardsRussell Jourdain (NZL007/ZK-RHJ)

Hi,Yuo have overlooked the fact that WindowsXp Corporate version can be loaded on to many PC's. It does not have to be activated my Micro$oft, and the majority of pirated copies that I have seen around are of this version.People who are using pirated copies of software are probably using these versions anyway.regards,Dave

Russell,I've been thinking more and more about this logic. So changing to NTFS is akin to a format. Okay, but if no other piece of hardware has changed then how on earth could it be a different machine to the one it was originally installed on?Not only is the security over the top it's a flawed system. I can install extra RAM and it won't require a new registration. I can change my graphics card and that will also be okay. But format the hard drive and PMDG now thinks the software resides on a different machine. Sorry but I just don't buy that. The re-registration process is painless but that isn't the point. It's being triggered unnecessarily IMHO. I know it's PMDGs software and they can do what they want with it but as a paying customer I feel I'm entitled to an opinion on all aspects of the software I've purchased.I could understand the need for re-registering if the hard drive was the only trigger but the fact is it isn't. When I change my processor and mobo but keep the same hard drive I will still need to re-register. That's what irks.'nuff said.

Jimmy,I asn't ignoring you but my other replies have already answered your questions. I was completely locked out from either entering a registration code or generating a TRansfer Code. I had to delete a folder in MODULES before I could proceed. After that it was painless.Cheers,

Look on the bright side: at least the protection scheme doesn't seem to key off temperature and humidity! ;)Lee Hetherington (KBED)

Hi Dave, you're correct. In addition, multiple user keys are NOT CD-dependent - they work with any XP Pro CD. It would appear that all the key does, is tell the setup utility, whether to install the product activation software or not.Cheers,Gosta.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg

Ray Proudfoot,Ah, ok. I see now. Your 'original' post suggests that you were completely locked out, I guess I just didn't take it that way. Sorry. Anyway, wow! I had already seen the folder you speak of on my HD after installing the 737 and knew where it came from. That's why I said in my first post..."There may be a couple of other things you would have to look at deleting before reinstalling it too. If necessary that part may be a little above what should be expected of a legitimate customer and/or a person with only mediocre computer experience immediately after reformatting."Anyway, glad to see you got a new registration code and I hope you are happier now. :-)Regards,Jim Richards

Hi Jim,<<"There may be a couple of other things you would have to look at deleting before reinstalling it too. If necessary that part may be a little above what should be expected of a legitimate customer and/or a person with only mediocre computer experience immediately after reformatting." >>I was happy enough deleting it once I knew I had to. But, I wouldn't disagree with your comments. I'm happy again now - thanks.Cheers,
