Wanted to add a few slat and flap visual flaws and can they be fixed?

Featured Replies

Hello, great product, and can't wait for the patch. This is the reason I am writing this post because I wanted to know if these outside visual problems will be fixed. 1. I noticed the slats go directly into full down position when extended one notch, this is not correct I do not know the exact degree but should only by about half for takeoff and full for landing, look at any pictures of airliners.net. This can be corrected easily just simple cfg edit.2. The slats move straight out and then curl down when fully extended, this animation is very wrong, should be a slow gradual slant and extending at the same time. This is a big flaw in my eyes when looking at the outside of aircraft. This must be fixed for no. 1 problem to work otherwise it just extends straight out.3. Outboard slats when extended look unstraight and expose more of the inner surface of the wing, looks like the slat extends farther out at end. I took a close look at this and it shows the slat is uneven and not a straight line, Would be nice to have this cleaned up.4. Inboard krueger flaps do not meet smoothly has a jagged joint in the middle.5. Last flaw is the flaps have a lot of bleedthroughs, and seem to not extend to the correct angle. I was comparing photos from in and out and then looked at it at ActiveCamera 2004 and noticed that the full extended position looked like the real 30 degree position. Can this be fixed if not that is okay, but again would look very nice.I figure some of this stuff might be in the patch to be released, but was not sure about it. I also just wanted to let you guys know incase no one else has observed it. I do not mean to nitpick about little stuff, I know this is just a FS sim, but you guys do have the most expensive add-on and think you guys really should have the best visual and feel to the a/c. Spend some time on it and really make it so it will set a pattern for new a/c being developed. Thank you very much and can't wait to see the new a/c with the patch. And sorry I didn't post pics, but if someone else wants to that is fine with [email protected]

Ill add a slat comment too.I work on and push back 73G and 739's all day working for AS. The slat animation when viewed from the spot plane is far too fast in my opinion. Id be willing to take a camera with me to work tomorrow and get some digital video of the slat extension as they taxi away. Would this interest any of the PMDG team? Its a little complaint but Im sure a fairly easy fix.Tim

"1. I noticed the slats go directly into full down position when extended one notch, this is not correct I do not know the exact degree but should only by about half for takeoff and full for landing,..."It appears to be a lot more than half. I think you would have trouble spotting the additional extension from some angles, Adam.http://members.ozemail.com.au/~b744er/737/...tsExtension.GIF"4. Inboard krueger flaps do not meet smoothly has a jagged joint in the middle."You mean something like this....?http://members.ozemail.com.au/~b744er/737/JaggedEdge.GIFCheers.Ian.

I have some values, if that helps....These are under normal airloads.... These vary slightly for no loads.LE FLAPSNormal- Up to Extend = 7 secondsNormal- Extend to Full Extend = N/ANormal- Full Extend to Extend = N/ANormal- Extend to Up = 7.5Alternate- Up to Full Extend = 32 secondsLE SLATSNormal- Up to Extend = 8 secondsNormal- Extend to Full Extend = 3.0 secondsNormal- Full Extend to Extend = 4.8 secondsNormal- Extend to Up = 7.8 secondsAlternate- Up to Full Extend = 58 secondsCheers.Ian.

Thank you very much guys, that is exactly what I meant, I know it is more than half but just don't have any solid documentation. And yes where those two meet, the real a/c is very smooth and yes can see there is two pieces but the FS model has a blunt edge to them. Anyone from PMDG that would care to comment on any of these suggestion? Understand you guys need your sleep and thanks for working on the patch so hard. Good night and good luck. Appreciate all the hard work [email protected]

Gents-The half extend/full extend is known to us. Vin called me screaming this evening because after reading this thread he discovered his animation work had been over-written in the release version.Of course- vin is normally a pretty calm guy (when he has a cigarette or two, i mean!) and his yelling was in response to my 40,000 repeated requests that he get the leading edge slat animation correct before we finished beta testing...So he did it...And somehow along the way I over-wrote it.Aren't I a nice guy? Thanks for pointing it out- we've fixed it for the Service Update...As for flap deploy times- we tinkered with controlling the MSFS animation- but did more damange than good- so we decided to leave that alone until we find a better way to do it. ;-)Thanks again gents-

Robert,There are several professional packages to organize patching and the like (I am sure some of the people here in the forum can recommend a few). Do you guys use anything?Jeff

The patch contains 180 files that you need to manually copy into 5 different directories. But dont worry... we included a readme! :-lolThanks for the offer.. but we got it covered :-)VinPMDGwww.precisionmanuals.comhttp://www.vinscimone.com/deadblue.jpg
