August 3, 200322 yr Gents:Something just started happening yesterday that I haven't seen before. After taking a flight from Moscow to Talinn in the SSW A310, after I exited FS2k2 to the desktop and then went to shut down my computer, the computer issued a window telling me that fs2002.exe was still running and needed to be shut down. I went into task manager under the processes tab and saw that fs2002.exe was still "processing" and I selected it and hit the end process button. I was then able to shut down the computer normally. This had never happened before. Today it is doing the same thing no matter which airplane I'm flying. In fact, in the processes tab good ol' fs2002.exe is still shown as being processed (but it is not shown under the "applications" tab) even as I write this. Can anyone tell me what is going on here, and what I need to do about it?Thanks for any and all help.Win XP home SP1 Dell Dimension 8200 P-4 2.0 Ghz 640 mb ram Radeon 9700 Pro 128 mb FS2K2Bill
August 3, 200322 yr Commercial Member Bill-not sure if you're aware of it, but this is the PMDG forum. For SSW-related issues, you might as well visit their forum (if they have one - I am not a customer). Thanks, Lefteris Kalamaras - Founder www.flightsimlabs.com
August 3, 200322 yr Lefteris:Yes, I am aware that this is not the SSW forum. I don't know if the A310 is the source of the problem, or if something else is. I've also installed quite a few Win XP updates recently too. I've flown the A310 several times previously without having this happen so I don't think it is the guilty party. There are a lot of very knowledgeable people on this forum who may have experienced this or know sometnhing about this kind of problem and can help me. That's why I posted it here and at a few other Forums as well. Hope no one takes offense.Thx
August 3, 200322 yr The exact same thing has been happening to me with the 737NG in FS2002 since I loaded it, Bill. PMDG takes a l-o-n-g time to load up on my computer and, knowing very little about FS2002 processes, I though a similar process was happening in reverse on FS2002 shutdown after using the 737NG. I assumed it was the memory thing being looked at in the patch(???). I had to force FS2002 to shut down with the Task Manager (even though it gave me the (paraphrasing) "you may lose important information if you do this" message).I haven't yet tried the PMDG Service Upgrade to see if it actually has been fixed.I had no problems prior to PMDG (e.g. with lots of 767 PIC usage).I have done very little to my computer in the last few months, other than loading Windows XP Service Pack 1.Cheers.Ian.
August 3, 200322 yr Yes, this is happening to me as well after the 737NG install. Face it, this plane even after the patch uses alot of system memory but for me, it is very flyable and fluid. After shutting down FS now, I too have to go into Taskmanager and manually shut down the process as well. Eric

I'm somewhat disappointed to hear it's still happening post-patch. :( Cheers.Ian.
August 3, 200322 yr The truth about that Ian is that is uses MUCH less than previously. I was at over 600 megs in the original release whereas I am at 300-400 tops with other things going. If you have less than 512 megs of system ram, you will have a harder time anyway with such intensive applications, I don't know what 256 will give you preformace wise. I am running a GF2 MX 32 meg video card and get GREAT frame rates... I do not have the system *Delay* because of FS flushing my ram like before.[h5]Best Wishes,Randy J. August 3, 200322 yr Hi,Same here, also with the PMDG 737. When I close FS2002 it takes about 20 seconds before the exe is (gradually) cleared from the memory.Don't know if it's a FS2002 issue or aircraft/panel related, but I don't care. As long the aircraft flies OK ;) Location: Vleuten, The Netherlands, 17.3dme SPL 108.40 | Simulator: FS2024 System: AMD 7800X3D - Gigabyte X670 - RTX 4090 - 64GB DDR5 - 2 x 2TB SSD - 32" 1440p Display - Windows 11 Pro
August 3, 200322 yr Randy,Your at 300-400 megs? Right now post-patch I am indicating 683megs? That is with 512MB RAM, P4 2.0ghz and GeForce4 128MB card. What other programs are running in the background? I think mine is so high because I have Activesky, SBHost, SB2.xx, Roger Wilco, FS sky world, Flight Deck companion, Norton Internet security/anti-virus and all sliders to the max. Crap, now that I listed all that, I think 682 is probably pretty good!! Eric

After a second SU1 download/update, PMDG takes 7 and a half minutes to boot up after making my FS2002 Airplane selection (and that's only the 2D version... I'd hate to think how long the 3D would take).FS2002 is active after shutting it down for g*d knows how long... I got tired of waiting after 5 minutes. Thankfully, my other FS2002 add-on, PIC, is still operating normally.Cheers.Ian.
August 3, 200322 yr Hopefully Ian, the new patch that Robert should have up soon will resolve this for you. I wait no longer than 20 seconds after menu selection of aircraft and I exit FS rather quicker than that. We'll get you going!!![h5]Best Wishes,Randy J. August 3, 200322 yr Well I guess misery loves company, I'm glad I'm not the only one experiencing this. I have installed the 737NG patch and have flown it a couple of times with no real problems, but I still have fs2002.exe running after I exit FS2K2. So that aspect hasn't changed any. I sure hope someone can come up with a rason why this is happening, and what we can do to stop it. In the mean time I'll just continue shutting down FS2K2 (after exiting to desktop) via the "end process" button in task manager. Thanks for the feedback

Good luck with the 800's and 900's!

August 4, 200322 yr No prob here, using fs9, registered fsuipc 3.03. I do have prob with fs2k2, hanging on exit.. but it is a320pic issue. Regards.
