August 3, 200322 yr For the most part, I'm very satisfied with the advances made with the first service pack. There are however some issues (perhaps) that I'd like to share with PMDG and the community to see if there are similarities.I've decided to show the areas where I have troubles according to phases of flight where it may be easier to troubleshoot. I may do a few of these but my first flight was a pretty short one from KBWI-KBDL (Hartford, CT). Here is the info:ZFW=105.8737-700 w/ winglets and VC.-No issues on pre-flight or FMS setup. Most of my earlier issues ironed out with the patch.-CLIMB OUT: Using LVL CHG during initial CLB I pressed VNAV to go to VNAV CLB. When this was performed, my PFD did not update target speed to 250 from my V2+15 climbout speed. I've seen this work properly before so not sure the issue. My FMS was set for restriction 250/10000.-CRUISE:Aside from the COST INDEX having no effect on flight modes, I have noticed that the PFD selected speed (magenta on top of speed tape) disagrees with the actual speed (white on bottom of speed tape) and with TGT SPD in FMS. The PFD Selected shows .76 and TGT SPD and actual speed agree at .755.Also, how to you get the NAV radios to auto-tune? The manual also states that the POS button on the EFIS control panel should display the course line to/from a tuned VOR. How do you turn it off? You don't appear to be able to remove these lines?-DESCENT:No issues with the initialization of VNAV descent. Dial in the lower alt constriction and plane starts a nice descent. Should there be a VNAV PTH deviation scale on the ND? Also, what's with the extra green donuts that appear on my route path AFTER the T/D pseudo waypoint?-APPROACH:I shot the ILS 24 approach into KBDL. This thing captures the ILS like a champ. No issues. Minor issue perhaps is that the APP button does not illuminate when pressed. Some of the other issues like engine not wanting to start, and fuel imbalance I can deal with pretty easily. Overall, I'm satisfied with this bird and can't stop flying it! Anyone have any input into the questions above, please advise.Happy Flying!
August 4, 200322 yr > Also, what's with the extra green donuts that appear on my route path AFTER the T/D pseudo waypoint? You could be talking about the point where the aircraft will level off and decelerate to 250 knots, followed by the point where the deceleration is complete and the aircraft resumes the descent. I've noticed two small circles drawn on the ND at these points.

Have done KEWR-KLAX-KEWR and fuel never became unbalanced over the total 6,000 plus miles I put on it this weekend. Eric
August 4, 200322 yr Ah..good point. I'm used to the Airbus that uses different symbols for these things. Thanks for the info!
August 4, 200322 yr I'll try the 2nd AP button on my next flight. I thought that if you wanted single channel ILS without autoland, you did not need the 2nd AP. Just curious and it's no big deal. The issue with fuel imbalance and engines only happened once so I'm not that concerned about it.Thanks,
August 4, 200322 yr >-APPROACH:>I shot the ILS 24 approach into KBDL. This thing captures the>ILS like a champ. No issues. Minor issue perhaps is that the>APP button does not illuminate when pressed. The APP button turns off once captured. This came up in the beta and it is a feature of the NG MCP. Has something to do with the mode not being able to be deselected without other modes being selected. I will see if I can dig up the discussion from the beta (or maybe someone more knowledgeable can chime in).George George Morris
August 5, 200322 yr Actually, I just looked up the info on VOR Auto Tune in my B737 FMC User's Guide (Bill Bulfer, excellent resource!) and the NG DOES indeed have this feature. It is found by accessing the NAV STATUS page from the PROGRESS page of the FMC.There is then an option to turn on/off DME update, VOR update, and GPS update. Unfortunately, this item was left out of the PMDG 737.
August 5, 200322 yr Commercial Member FMC VOR autotune is different than autotuning the NAV radios to the ILS the way a 767 does it - the FMC stuff is just for triagulating the planes position between VORs so that the FMC position doesn't drift.Ryan Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
August 5, 200322 yr There is NO autotune on the Nav Radios on the NG. This is what a real NG autoland entails: http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho..._id=12455&page=[h5]Best Wishes,Randy J. August 5, 200322 yr O.K. I understand that there is no auto tune for the ILS apch part. But I'm talking about the VOR auto tune that takes place while en-route. As posted above, this is a radio update to keep the FMC in check. This option is in the NG, I'm looking at it in an official B737 FMC Guide. Thanks for the info!
