MISSING TEXTURES

Two things that could possibly be happening:1) Your card is having trouble handling 32bit textures (wings and fuselage)2) Your system is lacking sufficient memory for AGP caching.Does the problem persist if you try setting your display settings to exteremely low? Hi Vin,Thank's for the quick reply.Problems handling 32 bit with Radeon 9700 PRO ??????Doesn't have these problems in FS2002, maybe some bugs in the Radeon drivers that seem to be arrising in the various forua.Changed AGP aparture from 128 to 256 Mb in bios which seems like an improvement although I missed the texture on the left wing en elevator (CO livery). How can I have insufficiant memory for AGP caching with 1 Gb RAM, 1 GB virtual memory and 128 Mb video memory, is there a setting that can be changed for this?BTW, I noticed the scenery cache size can't be set anymore in FS9.Haromo

Well guys I cheered to soon.Changing AGP aparture size doesn't seem to be doing much except that I have the best results with 256 Mb.Tried display settings on low for both scenery and aircraft but the problem remaind. Also tried switching of AGP texture acceleration without effect.Though I'm only missing textures on the left wing and elevator and sometimes on both wings. Fuselage is ok since updated patch!!??So either it's a texture loading problem with the PMDG B737 or it's related to the ATI drivers which seem to be having some problems with FS9.Once again I don't have these problems in FS2002 with all settings at maximum!!I ONLY have these issues with the PMDG a/c in FS9, defaults work flawless. So I'm afraid there might be some undiscovered issues with PMDG's B737 and FS9.Hope to hear from you guys with some other suggestions.Haromo

HaromoTrying going back to Catalyst 3.2 driver. The Omega 2.4.74a is based on the Catalyst 3.6 and there have been some problems with this driver and FS2004. I don't have FS2004 yet (grrr) but I'm using Omega 2.4.74a on a 9700TX 128 mb Radeon. No problems so far in FS2002. But if I have problems like you describe in FS2004 I'll go back to 3.2 which I've been using until a couple of days ago without any problems - unless ATI fixes some of the problems they admit to with respect to FS2004.Note that the Omega drivers are only optimizing drivers. They don't change the code of what would be a stock 3.6 ATI driver. I've found that I don't like the optmized settings which come standard with the Omega. I've ended up changing them to higher settings (such as quality vs performance) because I didn't like the look of what the settings were doing in FS2002.

Dear PMDG team,Strangly enough it looks like I'm the only one having troubles with missing textures in FS9.When I start a flight with the B737 everything is OK.When airborn switching from cockpit view to outside view very often corrupts the textures on the a/c.Sometimes a wing texture is missing, the other time the engine texture is missing and often the whole fuselage texture is missing. At the same time there are textures missing in the VC.In the worst case also the ground textures disappear. They are all washed out except for the autogen scenery.Pressing ALT and returning to full screen again brings back the missing textures most of the time.In other cases the textures on the a/c are ALREADY MISSING in the selection menu of the sim.THIS ONLY HAPPENS IN FS9 (FS2002 no problems)WITH THE PMDG B737, all other a/c work without problems in FS9.Seems that the PMDG a/c/ is taking a major hit on texture creation.I noticed that during operation with the PMDG B737 my system uses between 700 and 800 Mb of my RAM! Performed various clean installs of FS9 and PMDG SU1 (using removal tool), but the problem remains.Use XP2000, 1 Gb RAM, Radeon 9700 pro (Omega 2.4.74a)1600x1200x32,4xFSAA, 8xAF on windows XP SP1.Tried all ATI and Omega drivers available but it doesn't change a thing.Hope to hear an opinion.Haromo

Haromo->Though I'm only missing textures on the left wing and elevator>and sometimes on both wings. Fuselage is ok since updated>patch!!??If you are doing all possible with your hardware to correct the issue and coming up empty handed, I'd be interested to know if your installation is being done completely using the installers?I've had a few users write in with missing texture problems and found that they were doing a copy/paste of their directories, or running the livery installers into a temp directory then using cut/paste.That won't work- you need to run the installers to install the liveries as they pick up all the non-livery portions of the airplane art from your existing directories. (Saves you download time!)>So either it's a texture loading problem with the PMDG B737 or>it's related to the ATI drivers which seem to be having some>problems with FS9.I'm gonna guess that it's a driver problem or an install problem that you are inducing by accident. If the installer contained a fault that was doing this- we'd see if on every single installation that has been conducted.>So I'm afraid there might be some undiscovered issues with>PMDG's B737 and FS9.Well- lets let the experts decide that... We have a pretty broad base of users out there have none of the problems you describe- so we can rule out the undiscovered problem vis a vis textures. On the topic- are you using WinXP or something earlier? That could also play a role here....

The problem is FS2004 requires much more memory than FS2002 then throwing on top this aircraft you need all the memory you can get. The reason your loosing textures is due to memory. I had this same issue happen with other addon aircraft in FS2004. The solution I found and have not seen it happen since is this:Right Click My ComputerGo to PropertiesGo to Advanced TabClick Settings Button under PerformanceClick Advanced TabUnder Memory Usage change to Programs Do not use system cache. This is all under XP PRO.Sean

Hi Sean,>Under Memory Usage change to Programs Do not use system cache.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg

Well, thanks to everybody for the response! It appears that changing my settings in XP from cache back to programs has done the trick!Funny as setting memory handling to cache is a well known XP performance tweak (at least that is what some tweakers say).Maybe something to add in the FAQ.Cheers, Haromo
