June 25, 200223 yr I'd like to see a Great Lakes B1900D. I fuel them here at KJMS when I'm not flight instructing. Actually thinking about applying with them since they're hiring First Officers again...Regards,Scott (KJMS) "...now let's get this thing on the hump - we've got some flyin' to do!" ~ Major Kong from "Dr. Stranglove" Scott Cebula
June 25, 200223 yr Not too sure if Great Lakes is such a smart career move. I've known several people who've gone there and willingly made "lateral" and even "downward" career moves afterwards. Not too sure either of the company's future since they don't have the UAL feed anymore, unless they've got something else on the horizon or maybe they're finding profit between O'Hare and Muskegeon. There are others, such as ASA, that I believe are hiring even now and can probably provide better environment and equipment. In the past, Great Lakes was acceptable because of the quick upgrade, however, nobody is going anywhere anytime soon in this industry right now. Of course I guess neither can a beggar be a chooser though.
June 25, 200223 yr Thanks for the info. I know, I've heard many things about Great Lakes. In my case, though, since I'm low on Multi time, they might be the best bet in town. Talked with one of their pilots yesterday and he said he'd walk the application in for me. He said that most of their pilots stick around for 2 to 3 years then move on. His advice is to get about a thousand hours PIC turbine time with them and then move on. It's definitely not a company to plan on staying with from what I've heard.Of course, as you said, beggars can't be choosers...especially in my case at the ripe old age of 44 ;-)Regards,Scott (KJMS - former cropduster, CFII) "...now let's get this thing on the hump - we've got some flyin' to do!" ~ Major Kong from "Dr. Stranglove" Scott Cebula
June 25, 200223 yr I'll second a vote for Colgan Air http://www.airliners.net/open.file/219469/M/. They fly up here in my neck of the woods to Rutland State airport. However they fly the C version not the D but Close enough. Also one of these http://www.airliners.net/open.file/227454/L/ Comutair 1900D's based out od Burlington VT would be nice too.Brian
