September 15, 200322 yr Don't know about you, but when I descend in that configuration, all I hear is TERRAIN TERRAIN, WHOOP WHOOP, PULL UP, PULL UP!:-lolRay
September 15, 200322 yr G'day IanNice pic.Lovely to have acces to the FM!!Thanks for the pic.(parden the pun)
September 15, 200322 yr Same here Ray, do you know if PMDG will fix this annoying sound because I am not doing anything wrong at all... ;-) ;-) ;-)Best,Bruno Francescoli.
September 17, 200322 yr My guess Bruno is that it is supposed to make that annoying sound when the aircraft is close to the ground in that configuration.
September 17, 200322 yr "why hasn't mine ever made that sound?"What altitude/height did you set the DH bug to, Clayton? With certain button selections, it's possible to set the RADIO height in PMDG to 1000' or more. The operating range of the Radio Altimeter is between 2500' and -12 feet, but RADIO DH range is only valid between -1 to plus 999 (according to one source). I may have stated the range incorrectly in a previous message (live and learn, I guess)Cheers.Ian.
September 17, 200322 yr Clayton, it was a joke ...Ian's picture shows the aircraft with the callouts with no gear down. In that configuration, you are not going to hear that set of callouts. You will hear all sorts of other callouts that finally terminate with an explosion if you choose to ignore them ;)If you want to hear them, simply try and land with your gear up.Ray
September 18, 200322 yr "Ian's picture shows the aircraft with the callouts with no gear down. In that configuration, you are not going to hear that set of callouts."Just to clarify.... the Mode 6 Radio Height callouts are independent of airplane flap/gear configuration, but most GPW systems will prioritize the callouts, so that they don't all sound at the same time. If one is missed because of a higher priority, it may not sound even when the more serious callout has finished. I don't know if this has been done in PMDG's aircraft however?Cheers.Ian.
September 18, 200322 yr Too Low Gear! at 300 radio alt nonstop until bellyflop. No standard radio alt callouts all the way in.You own me a new aircraft and you better send some guys out to patch the runway :-lolRay
September 20, 200322 yr Hi Ian !>The note on the diagram says that these are all the options,>but I do know that is possible to get custom callouts for>airline customers.Must be. I made a couple of flights on jump seat of a B737-800 with German charter carrier Hapag Lloyd. They only have the callout "50" active, no more alt callouts. -)Or is it Boeing's typical -800 configuration ? Regards
September 20, 200322 yr Nothing is typical in this regard. Airlines have their own ways of doing things and implementing items such as callouts in their SOPS. There is no standard. Even if the aircraft does not have a verbal calls does not mean that the PNF will not call out certain heights...[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J.
