Use on laptop and desktop

Featured Replies

I run FS on either a desktop machine or a laptop depending on where I am at the time (the laptop has the faster processor and graphics of the two, but poorer usablility - keyboard, mouse, screen etc).Would the current licence/registration allow me to install the PMDG 737 on both machines, or would I have to stick with just one machine? And as a follow-up question, does the file download have to be carried out from the PC on which the 737 is to be installed? I normally access the internet from a third machine :)Thanks for any advice.--Bryn

Bryn,If you have purchased one license then you can run it on one machine or the other. Not both. Licenses are per machine not per person.Second question, not sure what you mean. You can download files anywhere. You need to execute the install process on the machine containing FS.

You probably want to ask PMDG directly after detailing exactly what you want to have as an end result. Email them.Ray

>You probably want to ask PMDG directly after detailing>exactly what you want to have as an end result. Email them. Thanks Ray - but isn't that what this forum is for (so that other potential buyers can also benefit from seeing the response)? From George's reply earlier in this thread, what happens when I build my new desktop in early 2004 - can I just transfer the installation over to the new machine, or do I require a new activation code or something (as in the case of Radar Contact)? There are so many different piracy protection schemes around now - we live in a justly suspicious environment - and I want to be sure I understand the limitations of what I might be buying here.:-)

Understood, but the ONLY answer that actually means anything is one from PMDG, the rest of us can only offer suggestions and possibilities.RayPS: Upgrades to new machines are painless, I went through it a week or so ago and got instructions from them directly same day.

Thanks again Ray, but I've just found a show-stopper on the download/order page: "Be sure you are a WinME/WinXP user ..."I'm currently staying with Win98SE on my desktop, and my WIN XP laptop is away having a new screen (hint: they don't bounce) so I'll have to wait for my next build sometime next year. Oh well, at least they'll have the bugs out of SU2 by then :)--Bryn

Bryn, the information above is incorrect. I am running FS2002 on my laptop with the PMDG and fS2002 and FS9 on my PC with PMDG, with licences on all, only paying once.I just copied the install files over to the computer I wanted it installed on then went through the installation process, registering each version via the webpage on the PMDG website.I have not had any issues since SU1.1 and I don't expect any for SU2.SU1.1 moved your licence to a seperate folder which enabled upgrades to your system as well.Give it a go and if all else fails, contact PMDG support directly.Cheers,Travis WaycottBrisbane, Australia

Thanks Travis, that is encouraging. When I get an XP machine I'll give it a go.--Bryn
