FMC="Insufficient Fuel"

Featured Replies

Sorry - newbie day here!I've just really started getting into this plane, and what a treat! I finally strayed from the tutorials to fly a short route from Manchester, NH to Reagan. Here's the route:KMHT direct HFD J42 OTT to KDCA. (I should probably be using a STAR at DCA, but one thing at a time!)After loading the plane with pax and packs, fuel 80% in center, 100% in each wing, I'm very close to max TOW. After going through the FMC pages, I hit exec on the RTE page and get an "Insufficient Fuel" message in the scratch pad. How can that be? Where might I be missing something?Thanks in advance for any info!sg

sg,I once had a problem that when I entered a flightplan there were actually more waypoints with the same name. When I selected the wrong one I got the same issue as it turned out that the waypoint I selected was halfway accross the globe :-eek.This should be easy to spot on your PFD however, also when you go into the LEGS page you can see distances between waypoints...You may want to check....Johan

That's something I hadn't thought of. Thanks. Somewhat related: If I program the FMC to fly via J42 to a VOR, it should know which vor I'm talking about because it should be a part of J42, right?

I believe that the FMC will give you the choice if more than one VOR is in the database with the same characters. Usually you can tell by noting the North or South latitudes; or the East or West longitudes. Logic would dictate that the FMC should know which VOR you mean since you're on an airway, but I'm not sure that the FMC makes that assumption. However, whether the FMC accepts the incorrect VOR (with the same name) as a valid waypoint fix is a really good point.Bruce.

Ignore it. It is fixed for SU2. You will be greatly impressed with many new items on the FMC ;)......................................[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. Smithhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/betaimg.jpg

actually the reserve fuel setting on the FMC is ingnored, as is also the cost indexing. next go around maybe.

Can't wait for su2...sounds too good to be true!The reason I had so much fuel was because I was trying to clear the message...350miles is about right.Anyhow...thanks for the input!sg
