March 4, 200422 yr I get this quite often. Some (not all) textures get lost after a while.I see them initially but on some view shifts later on (VC, Conckpit, TWR, External) textures start geting lost.It happens also on the 737NG.Thay also take few seconds to load each time pausing the sim.I am usually using the VC models (not the cabin but not the 2D as well)My specs:I run FS2004 on P4 3.0, 1Gb RAM, Windows XP SP1GeForce FX5950, latest WHQL drivers.AA, AF : no custom settings (set to "application" default setting).FS2004 in Windowed mode.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/65681.jpgAny suggestions ?Kyprianos Biris :-cool[link:avsim.com/greece/hvacc]Hellenic vACChttp://vateud.org/images/vatsim-eurs.gifhttp://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg Hellenic vACC - Olympic Aegean Virtual Prepar3D 5.3 | CPU i9 10900K | VGA: RTX 3070 | RAM: 32GB DDR4 | Monitor: 3440x1440
March 4, 200422 yr Commercial Member This is a common problem when people tweak their PC's CPU priority to "cache" instead of "programs". If you have made such a tweak, I would suggest switching CPU priority back to "programs". March 4, 200422 yr Author Nope, I am not a tweaks fan !The only thing I have tweaked in FS2004 is the lighter (graphic) clouds by (sorry can't remember) and the lighter default.xmlhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/65721.jpgI have not even overclocked anything. Its a new PC and I wait few months to see how it runs "untweaked".I also get 20 FpS on ground near airports whereas other users with similar hardware get 40~50 :-(What could be wrong ?!!Mind you, the textures get lost only when I use PMDG aircraft. As a side effect even AI traffic start loosing textures sometimes. March 4, 200422 yr The default texture size in FS maybe too small to allow fast texture switching. You can try to increase the amount of memory FS uses for textures by editing your FS9 config file. Off hand I don't remember where in the file you would make this change but if you go to the main MSFS forum you'll find stickies about tweaking FS to get better performance and it explains where to make these adjustments. http://www.precision...GX_Dev_Team.jpg PMDG Graphic Designer
March 4, 200422 yr Author That's what I've got.I supose you refer to the 80 instead of 40. Its been there since some time ago.The entries with ; are the ones I've tweaked from the past following such forum posts. There's only two there, one for sound_fader section and the {Old Modules} section.{DISPLAY}UPPER_FRAMERATE_LIMIT=0;TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=40TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=80{TERRAIN}TERRAIN_ERROR_FACTOR=100.000000TERRAIN_MIN_DEM_AREA=10.000000TERRAIN_MAX_DEM_AREA=100.000000TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL=19TERRAIN_TEXTURE_SIZE_EXP=8TERRAIN_AUTOGEN_DENSITY=5TERRAIN_USE_GRADIENT_MAP=1TERRAIN_EXTENDED_TEXTURES=1;TERRAIN_DEFAULT_RADIUS=0.000000;TERRAIN_EXTENDED_RADIUS=0.000000TERRAIN_DEFAULT_RADIUS=9.500000TERRAIN_EXTENDED_RADIUS=4.500000TERRAIN_EXTENDED_LEVELS=0Kyprianos Biris :-cool[link:avsim.com/greece/hvacc]Hellenic vACChttp://vateud.org/images/vatsim-eurs.gifhttp://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg Hellenic vACC - Olympic Aegean Virtual Prepar3D 5.3 | CPU i9 10900K | VGA: RTX 3070 | RAM: 32GB DDR4 | Monitor: 3440x1440
March 4, 200422 yr Here is what I have [DISPLAY]UPPER_FRAMERATE_LIMIT=40TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=200 And I have 512 megs less than you but no issues. You can also try "End it all" to free up all ram except for FS. Run it proir to launching FS, it will *kill* any processes not needed. http://home.ptd.net/~don5408/toolbox/enditall/ Also see what is eating up your ram by hitting CTRL-ALT DEL/PROCESSES [h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. March 5, 200422 yr Author Check this out.I think PMDG must check out this issue. It only happens to me on PMDG VC models.http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...&mesg_id=179617Kyprianos Biris :-cool[link:avsim.com/greece/hvacc]Hellenic vACChttp://vateud.org/images/vatsim-eurs.gifhttp://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg Hellenic vACC - Olympic Aegean Virtual Prepar3D 5.3 | CPU i9 10900K | VGA: RTX 3070 | RAM: 32GB DDR4 | Monitor: 3440x1440

March 5, 200422 yr HiGood question. I'll try to show you but only have a Swedish Windows XP but it'll do I'm sure. Go to Your Computer, right click and select Properties. Select the Advanced Tab, and click on the uppermost button. Think it is Performance and the button is Settings: http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/65822.jpgNow choose the tab Advanced in the new dialog and check that both radio buttons are set for Programs:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/65823.jpgThat's it. Hope it helps even if the pics are in swedish! ;-)TGIF, Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
March 5, 200422 yr Author >Hi Kyp,>>Great you got your problem solved>>The cure was what Vin suggested in the top of this thread too!>;-)>>TGIF,You are absolutelly right !He was right on spot from post 1.The reason I did not give much importance to it was because I knew I had not tweaked this feature or any other deep stuff in my PC :-0This I bet must have been changed by another function/software.Any ways, not doing Vin's suggestion straight away made me search a bit more the issue and I went and did all the tweaks OneTinSoldier suggests in the thread I refered to. Indeed now the PC works a bit better/faster, not huge change but there is some.Kyprianos Biris :-cool[link:avsim.com/greece/hvacc]Hellenic vACChttp://vateud.org/images/vatsim-eurs.gifhttp://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg Hellenic vACC - Olympic Aegean Virtual Prepar3D 5.3 | CPU i9 10900K | VGA: RTX 3070 | RAM: 32GB DDR4 | Monitor: 3440x1440
March 5, 200422 yr Thank you for posting the pictures. It made things a whole lot simpler.I went to the places in FS2004 as you suggested and I discovered I was already in the "Program" !!!And - I too am still getting the texture load failure on my Beech 1900D. (as the topic originator showed in his posting) The failure to load textures does not happen with any of the default FS2004 aircraft.Anyway, thanks for helping.Regards,DonaldS
March 9, 200422 yr Yes, a very good suggestion. I did that, but no change in the Beech 1900D not loading the textures. Oh, it will; after a fashion and a minute or so of flight. If you don't think a minute is a long time, switch to outside view sometime and start your stop watch and wait for one minute. hahahahahahahahahahahhahaha.Everything is relative, I guess.Anyhow, I have a fairly new computer and it takes a looooooooooong time for textures on the Beech 1900D to load.My system;Pentium 4 - 2.8Ghz1024MB SDRAM128MB ATI Radeon 9800G PRO160GB HarddriveWindows XP HomeThanks,DonaldS
