March 23, 200422 yr I'm aware that PMDG have stated that the 800/900 737 upgrade will be exclusivly for FS9. Does this mean that the add-on will NOT be compatible with FS2002, or that some aspects may not work with 2002, for which support will not be provided.I used FS9 for quite a while, before becoming frustrated with low frame rates and choppy play. I went back to FS2002, and can have high detailed add-on scenery, with all the sliders at max, and get good frame rates with smooth play.I'm just wondering if the 800/900 will be 100% incompatible with 2002, or just certain parts. The VC was mentioned, but I don't fly with the VC anyway, so that wouldn't affect me.Would it be possible for PMDG to release a list of what things do not are are not expected to work with FS2002? I may well get the add-on for 2002 if only a few things are incompatible. Thanks for any help in the matter.-Phil Brown Phil Brown
March 23, 200422 yr From what I understand-it wont work.Despite M$'s claims of Backward compatibility-they are 2 completely different sims :(John (Once known as Macs)http://homepage.eircom.net/~eamonnmca/images/logo_ba.JPGwww.bavirtual.co.uk Senior Captain Simflight.com Staff Reviewer
March 23, 200422 yr Let me just chime in as another person who has gone back to fs2002 from fs9. While I have fs9 running, I get much better performance, and ultimately less headaches with fs2002. I would like to see an fs2002 only version of the 800/900 if it isn't too much work. Not sure what else is required other than the flight model differences. With fs2002, I can fly the 737, plus a high percentage of AI traffic (as much as the ATC can handle), the graphics sliders at near maximum, and keep 25 fps almost everywhere. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
March 23, 200422 yr It is my understanding that most of the 800/900 enhancements are not compatible with FS2K. There will not be any install options for FS2K2.Also, we are not doing any testing of the 800/900 in FS2K2. "I would like to see an fs2002 only version of the 800/900 if it isn't too much work. Not sure what else is required other than the flight model differences."Craig: Please take another look a Robert's post. There is a lot required to try to bring up an FS2K2 version. A good portion of the enhancements would have to be completely redone to become compatible with FS2K2. As mentioned this would cause design and performance compromises for both versions of the FS. This is a compromise PMDG doesn't want to make. George Morris
