May 13, 200422 yr Is there a fuel calculator for the 737 that is NOT an Excel spreadsheet? Not everyone has Excel. Thanx in advance.-Rick
May 13, 200422 yr Have you tried the really nice fuel-planner by Ross Carlson available under downloads/misc on the pmdg page? A jolly good little util! :-)rgrds fredrik granfors
May 17, 200422 yr I'm not sure if PMDG has updated the version they have on their downloads page, so you might want to get it from my web site:http://www.metacraft.com/737NGFP/This version supports the 800/900 as well.
May 17, 200422 yr Hi Ross!Speaking about your great fuel calculator, one function I've come to think of would be great to have included would be estimated time enroute - maybe in a future version ;-)?All the best,
May 17, 200422 yr Does anyone know where I could find the excel spreadsheet fuel planning thing? Cheers,RyanProfessional Coffee Drinker/BAe146 DriverAircraft Maintenance Engineer
May 17, 200422 yr Hi Richard, that's a good suggestion, but it kind of goes against the philosophy I follow when making simple utility programs such as this. That philosophy dictates that the program should do one thing, and do it well, and leave the rest to other programs. Calculating trip time is really the domain of flight planners, not fuel planners.Generally, by the time you fire up the fuel planner, you've already planned your route in a flight planner, which is where you get the trip distance required to estimate the fuel. Any flight planner will give you the time enroute also.In other words, I try to avoid duplication of effort wherever possible. Thanks for the suggestion though, and keep 'em coming!
May 17, 200422 yr Hi there,I can see your point but personally I'm using a web-based flightplanner ( http://rfinder.asalink.net/free ) where you unfortunately don't get the ETE and therefore my suggestion. Thanks anyway for your great program, I use it every time I fly!Cheers,
May 17, 200422 yr Wow ... a flight planner that doesn't give ETE?? Yikes. :) I'm assuming it just helps you plan your waypoints, and not much else? If it doesn't give ETE, I'm guessing it doesn't ask for your air speed or cruise alt, and doesn't calculate top of climb or begining of descent, etc.
May 17, 200422 yr Hmm...well...part from the cruise alt I'm afraid you're pretty right ;-) Maybe it's time to invest in a real flight planner...
May 17, 200422 yr I've been really happy with FSBuild. It can export to FSNavigator (For in-flight moving map) and the PMDG FMS.
May 17, 200422 yr Yeah, heard lots of people saying they are happy with FSBuild. Maybe I'll give it a try.
May 18, 200422 yr Since NGs can fly at FL410, could those flight levals be added to future fuel caculators?John K
May 18, 200422 yr The reason for the flight level selections in my fuel calculator is that those are the only levels for which fuel consumption data is provided in the PMDG manuals. I've considered extrapolating the values for higher flight levels, but I can't be sure that it will be accurate, at least not without testing, which would require far more time than I'm willing to commit! :)
May 18, 200422 yr Ross, Where does one attain FSBuild? I've heard great things, but after a quick search am unable to find it.
