Temporary Interim Update released.

Graham,I am with you, I have not had one of the problems people have talked about in the bug messages, I am thank my lucky stars about that.I know that Steve, was trying to be constructive, but this radio bug is NOT universal, which may account for the problems that PMDG is having to fix it. I have about 50 hours now in the -800 have never had a engine failure at V1, by battery does not drain, and I don't have a radio problem. Having said that, I know that others have and it is annoying. I must assume that some sequence of events must occur that affect some and not others. I have seen the PMDG team really dig deep to find what these unique sequences that trigger failures are. BTW Graham, I too labored like you to not install the interim fix, but I did and everything is still working fine on my flight today, but follow that wise addage that you stated; "if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it", leave well enough alone. For some reason we are lucky. Hope the PMDG team gets to the bottom of this soon.CheersBob

Edited: I have no respect for my peers. Next time, my post will just be deleted.

Hi Lefteris, I haven't had the engine problem as yet, but as to the RADIO, I have found that it may be an 'avionics off' issue. I also noted that when there is a problem, I have no 'DUCT' pressure showing on the overhead panel. I have assigned a keyboard command in FS2K4 to activate-deactivate avionins. When pressed, the RADIOS and Duct Pressure both work. This is not one of those things that happens every time....rather, it's one of those random gremlins. I'm using the new series -800 with VC and winglets. I have as a default situation the default cessna 172 at my hometown airport. Everything powered down except avionics. Let me know if you need anything else I may have left off...background wise....Thanks.Paul M."Big Sky---Little Bullet"---For All Other Impediments There's TCAShttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpg

Also have the radio/landing lights go out-problem from time to time and when pressing SHIFT-M twice both of them work just fine again.

Yes I did already. I'll let you know later today if there has been any change as to my post above....Thanks, Paul M."Big Sky---Little Bullet"---For All Other Impediments There's TCAShttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpg

Hi Lefteris,Yes I did apply the temp Service Update, did a 4 hour flight from Denver to Orlando and no problems. If is any help to you, I always save my PMDG as the default flight and start FS9 up from that save flight. Could some of these problems be related to starting FS9 up with a default MSFS plane and then switching to the NG?Just a thoughtBob

Shouldn't be since I always start up from a saved situation in the PMDG 737-800 VC model and also experienced my landing lights went off even after applying the interim SU. Was fixed by pressing SHIFT-M twice though.

Since I'm deeply suspicious of my controller somehow sending commands it shouldn't be (thus, my autopilot disengaging when the mode switch is changed), I have gone into both FS9's and PMDG's keyboard mapping configurations and unmapped every single avionics (MCP, EFIS, etc) command except for the avionics on/off which someone suggested at some point that it be mapped to "CTRL + SHIFT + A". Wasn't sure about the reasoning behind that, but what have I got to lose? (Good thing the new VC is fully clickable!)I have only done one flight since, but so far, so good. I flew kstl to kmsp which must be in the area of 300nm... In my experience thus far this would have been a 50/50 proposition, so I'm far from proclaiming I'm cured, but here's hoping...I'll post back tomorrow after I try kmia to kord... I've attempted this 3 times previous only to end up ditching my deaf/mute bird in the northern Georgia/Tennesee area every time.

oh hiuh oh confushion reins!!!!! do i now buy this????stewartsoring high now

At risk of sounding like the extremely complimentary posters I was marveling at, I don't regret buying this**. I'm still a little new to the flight sim world, so I may be missing somthing, but I'm not aware of a competing product to choose from if you want a pretty much fully implemented VC cockpit like PMDG provides.**My lack of regret hinges on trust that PMDG will work out these kinks... it appears they've already worked out a couple. Once they do, I think I will be satisfied with my purchase. So, I'm annoyed, but hopeful.OTOH, if they don't work out this problem....peace.

I don't save my flights in the panel view, but instead in the outside view. Please try to do this and then switch into your VC view and see if this problems goes away.Let me knowCheers'Bob

I realize it can be difficult waiting for things, especially patches for bugs, but I KNOW PMDG will find the problems and eliminate them. I was anxious for the 800/900 release, however, once I got it I was happy as a lark. Then, of course after a few flight I had the V1 engine failure, but wasn't too deterred because I expected some issues. Now the "temporary" patch has fixed that issue for me, and probably others I didn't even notice. Some customers are like Sherlock Homes when it comes to finding bugs, lol.Just give them a chance to find the cause of these bugs, and I promise you'll be happy with your purchase. I haven't had the radio problem, so I'm pretty much bug free [knock on wood]. I fully trust that PMDG will fix the other issues as they did with my V1 bug. :)Chris

Hi Hawkeye,I also thought that the radio locking problem was attributed to flying in compressed time. I have used the temp update but I have found a couple of times that the radio lockup problem has occured when on the ground and requesting taxi clearance. I am also a member of a virtual airline which doesn't allow compressed time on short flights and I have flown for 2.5 hrs. only to find the radios lockup when nearing the destination. Very annoying to say the least. Hope PMDG come up with a solution soon.:( regards,Ian.
