July 16, 200421 yr Hi Guys,Initially had this issue on takeoff at V1 and your temp fix corrected it (thanks !). Smooth sailing for a few weeks after that but now I am experiencing uncommanded engine failure in flight, on initial descent and even on finals. Accomplished repeated in-flight relights only to experience failures less than a minute later.I know your soon-to-be-released official update should fix this issue but is there another fix in the meantime?Reason is I have a window of one or two days every 3 weeks to do some serious flying (my job has me traveling too much !) and with the above, its really a bummer not being able to complete the flight.Eagerly await the "Queen of the Skies" !CheersJon Castelino:-zhelp
July 16, 200421 yr Commercial Member John-With the temp update installed you shuld not have any such problems.... So you have created a mystery...We hope to have the Service Update out shortly... Robert S. Randazzo PLEASE NOTE THAT PMDG HAS DEPARTED AVSIM You can find us at: http://forum.pmdg.com
July 16, 200421 yr HiI was just taking a leisurely flight from Geneva to Copenhagen in the 737-600 when 30 mins out from the destination at FL330 both engines simultaneously failed. The aircraft went out of control and I managed to re-start about FL160 only for the engines to fail again within minutes. After numerous engine failures I disconnected all assistance - auto pilot, auto thrust etc. and limped into Kastrup.I did notice on approach the temperature rose alarmingly quickly to 127 celsius but was a respectable 10 on arrival. This is the first time I have suffered such problems. The only recent changes were video drivers - regression through Catalyst Drivers to find the best for me and using minimum weather deafaults in FSUIPC.I will load the temp. update and see if it happens again. If it does I will zap the video and start again - not that I think it is the problem.Andy b Andy Brockbank
July 16, 200421 yr AndyAre you using AS2004 for wx by any chance? If so this malfunction was probably due to a glitch on the HiFiSim network wx servers. Damian are aware of the problem and I think it's corrected now.Hope it helps, Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
July 17, 200421 yr MatsI was using AS2004. I added the temp update for the sake of it after scraping the passengers off the ceiling and extracting a few from the overhead lockers :-) and flew again without any problems. The area of trouble was around Bremen. Thanks for the reply - helps alot.RgdsAndy b Andy Brockbank
July 19, 200421 yr I have been having the same problem with the -700. The left engine fails intermittently at V1. I have checked to ensure that this is an uncommanded failure. I have the -800/-900 also and since this is a fairly new addition to my fleet (past month), I am pretty sure that I have the latest version.Other than that, this is a terrific product. Needless to say, I have developed a high degree of proficiency at handling a post-V1 engine failure!Any insights into this problem would be appreciated.
July 19, 200421 yr As Mats just said, ActiveSky 2004, don't know about the other version of AS, but there have been some major temperature problems with the data on the ActiveSky servers. 120C would cause the 737NG to experience a engine failure.I think to help the pMDG team not chase a phantom, make sure the problem is not being casued by ActiveSky, and yes their team is aware of these temp problems.Bob
July 26, 200421 yr Hi Robert,Just got back from a long trip.....and I mean long ! Had the privilege to fly the longest non stop commercial flight ever - SQ from Singapore to New York and back (18+ hours one way). Interestingly, to KEWR we tracked East over China, Siberia, Northern Alaska and down through the Hudson Bay and on the return from KEWR we continued to track East over Gander, Shannon and the traditional route over Europe and the Middle East to Singapore (we did not go back the way we came). Both ways we picked up significant jetstream "assistance" without which we would have certainly had to make a tech stop. A/C type - A340-500.Anyway, back in the armchair, I did some playing around with this problem and found that if I let the FMC (VNAV) control my descent, I did not have any shutdown issue (4 times in a row). If I used the MCP to descend and set speeds manually (V/S and KIAS) the shutdowns occured. Not sure if this is anything but thought I would mention it.CheersJon Castelino
