ILS Landing Approach

Andy,Been following this topic for a while. So lets recapitulate:You don't have a problem with capturing the LOC either in APP or LOC mode. But it seems that you always end up a wee bit more than 1 dot to the left of the runway on LOC capture. And this regardless of airport and runway angle. Is this a correct ?You also state that you have removed and reinstalled twice. Have you confirmed all PMDG related files removed before reinstalling it?Lastly you inform us that no other aircraft is affected by this behaviour. Have you tested all other ones?Have your NG done this from the beginning? What are you system specs? H/W, O/S FS related and so on?You're the first here to have this problem as far as I can recall, which leads one to believe that this has something to do with your system setup. Your combination of FS software if you like.Let's tear this thing down piece by piece starting from the top... ;-)

Andy,Given new information this is certainly a problem related to your specific setup. It is impossible by construction for the LOC mode to be active, the flight director centred and 1.5 dots loc deviation. Unless you hacked my code and recompiled :) So please, contact [email protected] and ask to forward you email to me. I think I have an idea about what is causing this trouble. I'll ask you to conduct a couple of tests to verify this. We can then "publish" results here.Best,Vangelis===================================== E. M. >The system is good enough to perform capture even at>90 degrees to the approach course and at almost any speed>without even overshooting or overshooting just once. This is>the mark of a well designed system by the way just as its real>world counterpart.Vangelis,I am a tech junkie and the above sentence drew my attention. I wonder how can it be possible? Going say at 250 kts at 90 deg. across the localizer beam which is of very finite width (even 15 miles form the airport) and with aircraft having limited turn capability how can you not overshoot? Your typical AP may know about the ILS course (heading) but not about its exact position in space (lat, long) so it can't proactively start making a turn unless it actually senses the beam. Hello,I'm using PMDG also a long time, and today 11 nov 2004 i had the same problem, at EHAM. landing at the right handside of the runway, but oke, mayby somthing wrong in AFCAD our whatever, but the other big problem was:Visibility was at that time 0.10NM and vertical 300meters horizontal 250 heavy fog!So i decided to land because it is in limits, it should have been a CATIII landing. Lined up on the ILS of RWY 06 established and slowing down, gear down, flaps 30 Vref was about 140 a made it 145 because of some light wind. And the calls: 100, 50, 40, 30, 20, 10, and BANG on the ground!!NO FLARE!!! is PMDG 737-800/900 made for CAT III landing?? Never had a problem before, usually i take over manually and make smooth landings but not today!!What went wrong altimeter setting was oke! Our i'm i expecting to much of FS9 and PMDG??Peter
