Upgrading to 800/900 NG....

Featured Replies

I currently have the 600/700 NG and am still getting familiar with all aspects of the flight envelope and FMC operation. But I understand there is no TCAS on it and also when it crashes, FS9 crashes with it. I've heard the 800/900 has fix for this specific type of crash I am experiencing and also that the 800 series has TCAS.If I instal the 800/900, will it destabilize anything in my 600/700 NG or change anything vital?Appreciate advice, thanks.Jonathan

It will change a varity of items ranging across the entire aircraft. Your cockpit will not be the same looking and your current VC will have the ability to click/set the switches. There is also a very LONG list of other added-updated-modified items found on the 800-900. You will not be dissapointed. I cannot guarantee you will have a fix for your particular sim crash issue and do not believe anyone else should tell you it will, certanly it MIGHT.Best Wishes,[h4]Randy J. Many Thanks JsacksRegards Paul Teasdale

Hi JsacksI have just downloaded it and its the bees knees...Cheers for the advice guys.I have one silly question....When i flew a night in the 600-700 the cockpit night lighting was really pleasing to the eye (a nice orange glow over all the buttons/cockpit)but in the 800-900 it is not...it is as i am sure you are all aware just the buttons and the button surronds that light up white...is this correct or is there some way of turning it on?P.S I am not talking about in the virtual cockpit mode becuase i am aware of the globe light but the normal view.It is very dark when i fly with this now and its slightly straining my eyes after some time on here. Please dont tell me this is how it is.I love this add on to bits!..........The tcas is a great tool too.I have another question and this is it...what is the ACARS and what does it do/whats it for?Regards Paul Teasdale

The night lighting was changed because many customers regarded that yellow night lighting as a bit much. In fact though is was exactly like the real bird with full panel lighting on and I even have shots in flight looking just like that but as PMDG are customer pleasers they choose to go with a toned down lighting scheme. I believe it has accomplished what was desired.. ACARS does not exist on the NG so there is nothing to discuss YET ;-)Best Wishes,[h4]Randy J.
