September 14, 200421 yr Asking questions like "How could this have been missed in beta" is not a question a person asks on a Forum IMO because it only serves to stir up people, it's you not me that has done that sir, and has nothing to do with "is this a missed item or bug?". This is a snipe at the team plain and simple, you can change it to whatever you like but it's you who started this type of reponce not me. It's funny that we are now dealing with attitude and not a little MCP light anymore, we keep to the subject or PMDG can lock this thread..Best Wishes,[h4]Randy J. September 14, 200421 yr Hi !!In the picture you can see that the light test switch is in the test position, That explain's why the MCP push button lite's up, with test switch you can switch all light's "ON" to see if there are light bulb's defect. I Check the Aircraft Maintenance Manual about this item, it's a simple answer i can give you, !! It's NOT possible to select a AFDS mode when the F/D's & A/P's are "OFF" It's only possible when one of the A/P's and/or F/D's are "ON" I also checked it with the real aircraft it was not possible.Greetings Mark.
September 14, 200421 yr Thanks for confirming, Mark!I hope that's proof enough. Boy, it takes a lot :-)

September 20, 200421 yr Commercial Member Adrian,Taking you at your word that you are a 737NG F/O. You certainly would have access to the Boeing AOM Volume 2 which would give the D&O of the MCP and the AFS. I can't find anywhere in the AMM or AOM Vol 2 for the 737NG that says that the MCP mode would be inhibited by not selecting either a FD displpay or A/P command mode. If you have information to the contrary please feel free to share but everything I have from Boeing seems to indicate that it should still work. If you can back up your claim with proof from Boeing then we would of course look into the problem. Accusations without proof don't do anything to further the discussion.RegardsPaul Gollnick :-cool Technical Operations/Customer Operational SupportPrecision Manuals Development Groupwww.precisionmanuals.comhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/devteam.jpg Paul Gollnick Manager Customer/Technical Support Precision Manuals Development Group www.precisionmanuals.com
September 20, 200421 yr This statement is completely uncalled for, very disrespectful, and offends me personally. Randy, along with two or maybe three others here, has taught me how to have an unbelievably great time with this simulation and I will always be grateful for his patience. He has answered the same question 50 or 60 times and always did so patiently as long as the poster was generally respectful. In my not so humble opinion, Randy can play a pilot whenever he wants to!! Thank you.
September 20, 200421 yr Hi Paul,I work as a Avio mechanic at an airliner and I can back up Adrian's story about the Mode Control panel (MCP) with a functional description of the MCP from the Boeing training manual of the B737NG.I can sent the copy's of the Training Manual by E-mail to you If you want this, I hope you now something about electronics.Greetings Mark
