September 29, 200421 yr My question is simply the subject of this thread :-).THANKS!Brandon Glass ;-)
September 29, 200421 yr erm... go to Navdata.at and download the latest? was that your question?Daniel
September 29, 200421 yr I don't understand the question. How to? Why is it necessary? What sites to use? ??????RegardsTerry
September 29, 200421 yr Well,My procedure, whenever all packages are updated, is as follows:- Download latest AIRAC from www.navdata.at- Download latest official SID/STAR files from www.precisionmanuals.com or Terry Yingling's own site http://home.sw.rr.com/filesherenow/index.html- Download the AIO SID/STAR files from www.navdata.atAfter that it's time to install.- Install AIRAC. Can be done without extracting the file from the zip. Point to FS root folder and it will be installed in the right location.- Unzip and copy all files in the PMDG official SID/STAR package to %FS-root%PMDGSIDSTARS.- Unzip and copy all files from the AOI user SID/STAR package over the recently copied PMDG procedures into %FS-root%PMDGSIDSTARS.Done. I dunno if I answered you question though...Anything else you would like to know? ;-) Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
September 29, 200421 yr Let me "piggy back" on this one too. I did precisely what you suggested Matt with 409. However, when I wanted to call ILS 16 at Basle yesterday evening from the DEP/ARR page, I found myself with only the runways listed but no ILS approach, I had to pick the frequency from my FSNav to manually input it in my Nav 1. This is not the only occurence though, and I frequently (but not always) do not find either the runway or the ILS approach I want for my destination, I can always overcome this by going to FSNav, but I am sure there is something I do not do properly or else. I am using navdata updates for FSNav too, so the information has to be the same.Thank you.

Seems to be a big mystery.
September 29, 200421 yr I checked the AIO-SID/STARS package (compressed to zip) from Navdata, and after decompressing from the zip they don't seem to have the same dataformat as the other SID/STARS .txt-files. Could that be the problem? I'm not yet using the AIO, but I'll do a check later with a single airport I'm familiar with and know that the actual SID/STARS and ILS are working. /Jan Bergwall
September 29, 200421 yr Hi Jean-Claude and all.The reason you sometimes find you are missing a SID or STAR or IAP is because they are not in the DAFIF database and I use the DAFIF to build the PMDG SIDs/STARs/IAPs. The DAFIF is designed for the military and as one might expect, it only contains SIDs/STARs/IAPs that are of interest to or, can be used by the military. This leaves a lot of SIDs/STARs/IAPs missing, especially outside of the U.S.. There are also a lot of missing airports for the same reason. The DAFIF data is, however, current and is updated every 28 days.To help fill the void www.navdata.at is providing a common place for 3rd parties to upload SIDs/STARs/IAPs they have designed for others to use. It is possible that someone has already written the SIDs/STARs/IAPs or airport you are after and has uploaded them to this site.RegardsTerry
September 29, 200421 yr Hi Jan. The procedures you downloaded should be in the same format as the default PMDG procedures. You might check that the file you downloaded was indeed for the PMDG 737NG. Not likely but also possible is that some other developers formats was accidently put in the PMDG folder at navdata.at.RegardsTerry
September 30, 200421 yr Thanks Terry,This does clarify why SID/STARs are covering only a number of areas, but out of curiosity yesterday, I made a comparison between the ARR database of my PMDG 737 and that of my PSS Airbus, both are updated regularly with navdata and I did notice some substantial differences, here is a sample:LSGG (Geneva)only one ILS available RWY 23 with PMDG database, ILS 05 and ILS 23 for PSSLSZH (Zurich) DILS 14 with PMDG, ILS 14 and ILS 16 for PSSLFPG (Paris CDG) NO approaches with PMDG, 8 (all) ILS approaches with PSSLFPO (Paris Orly) DILS 02 with PMDG, 6 (all) ILS approaches with PSSIs this correct, can you confirm you have the same results or do I have a problem with my database? What I am trying to understand is why are those databases so different when they come (presumably) from the same source? Can one find a way to fill those huge gaps (the case of Paris CDG is rather surprising NO approaches?!)Best regards,
September 30, 200421 yr Thanks for the answer, Terry. I think I have the correct file: the name is "PMDG_SIDSTARS_0408.zip" for the latest released AIO-package.I don't use it, but after Mats recommended it I was curious and checked it. I don't understand why the format differs, but maybe anyone else also could check. Also, it's possible they work - I have not installed it so I can't tell.I prefer to "handpick" the SIDS/STARS and manually check the content first. But I always start with your download first, Terry :) and then add with new or updated files from Navdata. This is especially for the European airports. Thanks to all of you spending a lot of time and work to make these files available for us desktop pilots!/Jan Bergwall
September 30, 200421 yr Many times i found the PMDG database incomplete in regards to runways or procedures.Procedures alone are an exception: should you have them, you're lucky! And i add that installing Navdata'a AIO package, deletes almost all procedure.Runways do remain, but no procedures.Must be the different format thing as Jan Bergman was saying.
September 30, 200421 yr Claudio,>Many times i found the PMDG database incomplete in regards to>runways or procedures. This is a well known fact Claudio, and has been stated by the developers and Terry Yingling who has provided the package from the beginning.>And i add that installing Navdata'a AIO package, deletes>almost all procedure.>Runways do remain, but no procedures. This doesn't make sense. I've been using the AIO PMDG file from NAVDATA for a long time and have had the opposite experience. My AIO files add data for all the european airports I frerquently use. Not the other way around. >Must be the different format thing as Jan Bergman was saying. No, no, no. If Jan is seeing a different format then he must have downloaded the AIO for the wrong add-on. Make sure you have chosen the PMDG add-on before downloading your AIO file.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/92747.jpgHope it helps Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
September 30, 200421 yr Jan,Do you mind attaching one of the files that you see differ from Terry's set? It seems unlikely that NavData would mess things up like that. The file name of your AIO file indicates you have changed it during download. So you might by mistake has chosen one of the other two downloads and typed over the original name. The original names are PSS_AIO.zip. 767PIC_AIO.zip and PMDG_AIO.zip. Oh and how many files are included in your package? In the PIC it should be 79 files, in the PSS 1524 and in the PMDG one 382 files.Hope it helps, Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
