What would you do??

Hypothetical Question:You are sitting in First class in a 737 on a landing approach to your home airport, in IFR weather and really low ceilings, flaps go to 30 and gear goes down, so you know you must be getting pretty close to the outer marker. All of a sudden, you hear though the cockpit door""Glide Slope - Glide Slope" " Sink Rate... Sink Rate" "Pull up - Pull Up"What would you do?

Hmm, well considering I live in Tucson, and IFR with 'really low cielings' doesnt happen, and the only airline I fly 737's with is Southwest, this question is rather off...Other than that:I probably wouldnt do anything but say in my mind how much I love my family and great friends. At least I went down doing the thing I love..flying :)

I would enter the cockpit and search for the "P" key :D

>I would enter the cockpit and search for the "P" key :D :-lol :-lol :-lol :-lol :-lol :-lol :-lol !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOW !First of all I would know that probably this crew is not applying the standard low vis/ceiling procedures (at least, as by the Flight Manual) correctly because for this type of approach flaps 40 are required instead of 30 (you'll get a less pitched nose up attitude during approach, increasing your visual perceptions and improving the chance to see runway lights/markings).Second: I would hope the engines are spooling up VERY fast and those damned pilots up in front are performing a correct go-around procedure without messing up something and really firewalling the throttles !Third: I would like to step out of this plane if I hear the first sounds of impact !

+1 on Jered's post, except I live in Phoenix. I also fly SWA, so I don't worry much.Otherwise, I'd probably run for the back of the plane since most crash survivors are seated in the back.

I think I'd relax a bit & figure it out. Probably some pigeons just collided with the pitot-tubes cloggig them completely, thus resulting in malfuctioning airspeed, altitude & VS indications...so the pilots will land visual ignoring all the bells in the cockpit. I'm sure everyone on board would think the same.Greets,Jeroen:-roll

>What would you do? Panick, look out of the window, wonder...Assuming i REALLY know my airport, it could well be that the ILS is not exactly an ILS (they exist, like at Genova LIMJ), the procedure requires a turn at a certain point, overflying something (which would be detected by the radar altimeter triggering the pull up warning), and leaving the ILS (thus triggering also the GS warning). How well did i do? :)

Hi....Here is what i would do. The secret of the post is that i was a first class passenger....so i would just have another double scotch whisky, put the headphones on and turn up the music, then say to myself.... I am glad I am only an armchair pilot...these guys are the pros...so no problem then probably complain to the ailine after we land that the insulation of the cabin doors are not as good as they can be as i can hear cockpit noises spoiling my flight :) lol.....nice one guysJohn Calleja

I'd look for PMDG-Styles, to turn off the GPWS sounds?

>> "I'd look for PMDG-Styles, to turn off the GPWS sounds?"Finally a man with sense. LOLI was thinking of swapping the samples for Monty Python quotes or South Park lines.

If you're hearing a sink rate warning, then you have problems. . .Personally, if this were a real situation, I'd probably be praying. :-) -drew

mmm First of all id never afford the first class ticket so id be way down the back and even if i did hear it id be putting my head between my legs and kissin my sorry ### goodbye!!!!on the otherhand if you flew with me in the armchair on a regular basis then youd know that i fully test the 737 gpws to the limit....so id think that the pilot was as good as me and not worry seeing as i get it down every time and go back to the ife..."Lairy"Liam Reynolds

I'd be cursing my luck - of all the flights I could've been booked on, Robert Randazzo had to be flying me this time!!!
