  1. I Have this problem too, i googled to see if it was my procedure, and it send me to this page. glad to see its not just me, and that its relevant now too, and not 2011... Tho reading above i did recreate a new hold without telling it how big to be ( my fake world SOP usually calls for 5 or 10 miles) and its drawn what i would have expcted and not a perfect circle! thanks for the informative posts too, I never realised there was so much thought going into a holding pattern. Liam "didn't forget my name" Reynolds
  2. Negative maybe, but its probably true. Liam "I forgot my name again" Reynolds
  3. yay. Another step closer to finding out what's being developed next.... One thing you have taught me over the last 12 years PMDG.... Paitence. happens when it happens and not a moment before... Liam "Nearly forgot my name" Reynolds
  4. It does appear that X-Plane is having more and more in the way of releases. I have invested a lot of money in P3D, but the amount of aircraft available seems really lacking for what it is that I would like to do. With what Kyle said in mind, It just seems that aircraft take years to develop, (as long as the real world counterparts) there must be what 3-4 companies all "in development" just frustrating I guess when supply cannot keep up with demand. Anyways I have spent a little time on the classic. and I like what I see, I couldn't get on with the platform is all, so I'm hoping that it comes towards P3D rgds. Liam "I remembered my name" Reynolds
  5. My bad. I misread somebody's post on page one... They were talking about Iberia. In a previous life, my job was to save fuel/time for BA (well British Regional/CitiExpress) on a daily basis. We would work on a rough rate of 145gbp a minute, that the plane wasn't sat on the floor, and that was 10 years ago. They stripped all the APU's out of the Dash 8's to save money, so I'm not surprised that they are now onto lightbulbs.... Lets be honest, we could close off lavatory's, stop using APU's on all aircraft, and even go to the extreme of flying on one engine.... Just because we have two doesn't actually mean you have to use it do you? Trip 7 can be certified for what, 300 mins of flight on one engine. there is a maths equation in there somewhere between drag, weight, increased fuel et al for someone far cleverer than I! and yes, its an absurd suggestion... Liam "I forgot my name" Reynolds
  6. Sounds like a challenge to me!!!! Liam Reynolds
  7. Have you got any routes or SID/STAR that have this problem?? I have been testing all week, and haven't noticed anything. Liam Reynolds
  8. I re read you reply and realise you probably know exactly what they are... but if it helps someone else ill leave the info below! Liam... I was hazard a guess that the Red and green, (akin to port and starboard on a boat) are shown as navigation lights, in fact... (wikipeida https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Navigation_light) - Right-of-way lights — A red light is mounted on the left or port side of the craft and a green on the right or starboard side. In a situation where the paths of two watercraft or aircraft cross, these lights help each crew determine the other craft's direction and who has right-of-way. When two craft have crossing paths, each sees a red or green running light. The craft on the port side, which must yield right of way, sees the red light on the other, while the craft on the starboard side, which has right of way, sees the green on the other. Where as position lights show your position (same web page as above) - Aircraft navigation lights are placed in a way similar to that of marine vessels, with a red navigation light located on the left wingtip leading edge and a green light on the right wingtip leading edge. A white navigation light is as far aft as possible on the tail or each wing tip.[3] High-intensity strobe lights are located on the aircraft to aid in collision avoidance. It goes on from there... Liam Reynolds
  9. This is one of the best topics this forum has had in a long time, certainly more intresting to read than a "whats next" or "when will it be released?" Its something i had not even considered, as far as i was concerned (UK airline/airport experience from 2000-2008) it was; If the batteries are on, the nav lights are on, when doors are shut and your ready to push get the beacon goes on, and when your live on the runway your strobes are on. I mean exactly how much fuel are we talking about here for saving? its cant be that much can it??? Liam Reynolds
  10. I found this series very helpful. I painted my first ever aircraft last weekend, and used this as my guide. (although mine was a fictional repaint for my own endeavours) I used Premiere Elements 14, and P3D SDK for converting .psd files into the .dds format. Hope it helps. Liam Reynolds.
  11. I did think that too.... and what's more being in the middle of the Irish sea, we have headwinds all the time.... HA! Liam Reynolds
  12. Edit: Disregard... Liam Reynolds
  13. Runway on my little Island that I reside is only 5700ft, who wants in on that landing!! Liam (I forgot my name again) Reynolds
  14. you can pay me to watch for you... - oh, and iv lost 25 mins checking THIS forum to see which aircraft I secretly hope they announce next (757) is NEVER being produced by PMDG. its not just the checking for that all important announcement that will see us run into a speculating/ feature request frenzy (wings engines and wheels please). There is always a thread thats worth a read to learn from what others are discussing. For intstance, who knew that over clocking a PC can screw your sim... AND there is a thing called 1st Split scimitar! what ever that is. (Oh... that just looks gross #iamout) Liam (I nearly forgot my name again) Reynolds.
  15. I have come from FS9. spent £1500 on a new system last October and went straight into P3D, apart from occasional unexplained crashes, and vas Issues ( own fault for running way to much stuff) I really have gotten back to flight sim, and since buying the 777 and the 737 just after Christmas, I'm on around 60 flights for 2016. Its a large investment, but the hours of joy its brought have totally been worth it. Dig deep and go for it!! Liam Reynolds
  16. Thanks, that's a while to wait. (been here before enough times!) Tho personally, I cant wait for it to come out just so that I can find out what is next up in line for producing!!! Liam Reynolds
  17. Been away for a while, but out of interest when was the last new FULL release of a PMDG aircraft? Liam Reynolds
  18. purly as a question. Do you run any other programs running or only your sim?? I have an issue and I think I may have found the culprit. and it isn't any of my aircraft! Liam Reynolds.
  19. This is PMDG we are talking about... The NGX is probably finished (in my opinion). My money for the next 73' release will be a 73-MAX, (updates don't generate cash. new releases do!!) I dream of a 75' but I probably got shot down in 2003 for asking that question... and I sure as'ell now that it will be the same answer in 2016. It is what it is, and it will happen when it happens!!!! Liam Reynolds

I kind of thought it wouldn't be, as IIRC older aircraft would just place Fix 1 fix 2 into the FMC. It was a nagging thought so figured I would check just in case. There is an event Viewer... Huh. I shall take a look at google now and try and find it. Cheers. Tho I have reinstalled now, currently at 370 on test flight number one on a new 3.1 install with nothing but the trip 7 installed.

Wondering out loud. My P3D keeps crashing randomly without warning while in flight with my Trip7. The last few flights the navdata hasn't been upto date fresh install since 3.1 (lazy) With that in mind, if I planned a PFPX flight with say the 1513 data, but I was using the original shipped ND could the sim crash when it gets to a point that no longer exists because the trip 7 cant handle it, or would it just ignore the point that's not there and carry on any way? I'v updated the navdata now so I might not ever find the cause. but none the less I'm going to strip my sim back to nothing and see if I can find the cause of these random crashes. sigh. (not OOM I had 1.5gb remaining according to FSUIPC) Liam Reynolds
  22. I have heard of both "Heads Up's!!" but in this case, yes i am back. I must be getting old tho, as i purposfully read the important bits in the manual before i kicked the tires... unlike the pilot in me of 2004! Shes a sweet bird, glad to finally have her in my hangar! With regard to my specs in my signature (i knew they would get me with something!!!!!) . Thanks for the "Heads up!" Major! - Pun Intended! I guess i best delete it, shame really, for the first time in my life I have a system I am proud to have and shout about, tho one has to wonder why, given it stops the whole "What's your Specs" comments. Liam Reynolds Proud Virtual Trip 7 Pilot (Trainee) and PC Owner!!
  23. Cheers Guys!! Currently at FL410 crossing the Atlantic on flight number 1... took forever to run through the 1.5 tutorial, tweaking setting, and changing things! Happy as an elephant in mud! Liam

Hello PMDG!! Its been 10 years since I purchased a PMDG product (stuck on FS9) but I have now made the switch to Prepar3d. For Christmas I asked Santa nicely for a New 777 and he has granted that wish, (well two seeing as he's thrown the 300ER in as well. This is nothing more, than a "Hello", "I am back", a "How are we", and a heads up to get my RTFM's ready for me as I try and fly this thing... it's downloaded all ready, but am not allowed to install until the 25th. and having spent months watching the likes of Kyle, and Froogle's videos, I really cant wait, (although I am sure my wife isn't looking forward to me disappearing for a "few" hours whilst I get the installation, configuration and a couple of touch and Go's completed!!) Looking through the various forums, its good to see most threads still contain at least one post, where someone has to point out the use of full names. Nothing changes!! hahaha Regards... You thought I had forgot didn't you! Liam Reynolds.
  25. ummm I spent all my cash on the rig... so don't yet have everything that i want. I have the aerosoft airbus, ASN GSX and Rex4. I locked the other day to 30 for the first time and its hanging around 28.8 ish as i type. but iv been fudging around with things (affinity mask i think its called) , and i have no idea what I'm doing when I'm dragging all these sliders and what not, so do not take my word as exact, and i know its not as good as it was before i started playing. How does it perform? when I'm unlocked, it seems really happy, intact if i unlock right now its jumping around 50 to 80, and thats on approach into some random Mexican place in my A320. when i go to UK2000 London, i do see a decrease, but there are certainly no stutters. what gets me is my CPU temp... i mean I'v been on this thing for a few hours, and the reported temp while flying is 26c. the core isn't even being tested, i really need to look at this tweaking business and optimise the system to make it maximise the PC. i dont think you will see a static 30 going back to your question, i think you will see it jump around a little, Like i have just landed and locked to 33. its hanging around 31.8 and 32.4 As a question to you chief, Why would you get ram with speed not less than 2800? what is the benefit of that speed? i did a lot of research in my rig, and ill be honest and say its the first i have heard of it, i would be interested in your reasonings in case I'm killing my system, i have used bios to auto OC my 4.0 processor to 4.5 and my RAM from 2100 (default speed) to 2400 (even tho they are 2400 sticks) with zero problems, (for now). Liam as for the SSD, i would skip the SSD for the OS and Get a board that accepts .M2 it really is the way forward!! until i get the Trip 7 Next month, i won't be able to comment. but by which time i hope to have at least worked out the optimisation.
