Anybody tried FS2Crew?

Featured Replies

www.fs2crew.com Looks like a great idea. I don't fly this plane as much as I would like becuase of the high workload (one person doing the work of two). If this really works as advertised, it might be a most useful add on.

It is fantastic. It has a slight learning curve. In other words read the manual. :D I'm not good at writing reviews but you won't be disappointed.

Well I allso think it's a great program. You can compare it to FDC, but aside from hearing the checklists, the FO actually does something. But if you think you're going to reduce the work-load it's a bit incorrect. The FO flips a lot of the switches, but you'll have to keep in mind that following all the checklists correctly implies some dedication, patience and more work-load in your head.Greets,Jeroen

It doesn't really reduce the workload. Traditionally if you want flaps you press a key on your keyboard. With FS2C, instead of hitting the keyboard you click a button on screen to tell your FO to select flaps. So, you're still doing the work in the end.I'd wait until 1.1 or 1.2 when the bugs are squashed if you want a smooth flight. If you use dual monitors on your flights then let's wait until the dual-monitors bug is sorted out. Honestly I haven't completed a flight with it yet because of the bug.I think it adds another dimension to your flying in that you interact with more than just the plane. But the hardest thing for me is SHARING the work load to your FO. I'm so used to flip every swtich and set everything up myself. Now I got to sit back a little and let the little guy work his side of the overhead :) You know this instinctive-primitive territorial feeling? ;) I want to fly -MY- plane!

I've used it now for 5 flights of between 45 minutes and 2 hours in duration. I really like it so far. I get a little better at it on each flight. I'm still waiting for that cup of coffee and sandwich though. :D

I didnt think I'd enjoy this program as much as I do now.It doesnt really reduce the workload, what it does do is allow you to fly the aircraft without worrying about the after TO checklist or on the rollout. An example of its features is the TO procedure. The FO will handle all After Take Off flows including Flaps, MCP settings and the Overhead panel while you handfly the plane. This program is a Bargain at $20John http://homepage.eircom.net/~eamonnmca/images/logo_ba.JPGwww.bavirtual.co.uk Senior Captain Simflight.com Staff Reviewer

I've been using it and was also on the Beta testing crew. I use a single monitor so I do not have any of the aforementioned issues. The program does not save time. So if you want a "realistic" crew add on that still lets you jump into the leftseat and be airborn in 5 minutes, this is not the program for you.The FO operates switches in accordance with his own flows. These operations you do not need to do yourself. It simulates the fact that you fly in a populated environment and also rely on other people to do the job.I like the add on a lot. Expect to add perhaps 30 mins to the time you might otherwise have had to fly a hop from loading FS9 to disconnect.O - tip - don't have RW Unicom playing during flight prep - it gets extremely annoying listening to people asking for radio checks when needing to interact with your own "crew."

Gents,The Dual-Monitor issue a minority of users reported has been identified and fixed. All the other issues basically stemmed from people not following the manuals properly (especially the set-up). FS2Crew comes with 11 (that's right, eleven) different manuals so it's easy to miss stuff.I had a couple interesting installation issues from people who are running the PMDG 800/900 on Win 2000 and 98. I didn't even know you could do that, so I didn't design the installer to work with Win 2000 or 98. It's a very easy thing to fix though. I'm still expecting to hear from someone complaining they can't get it to work on their Commodore 64. That's a joke...As for adding to your workload: As Steve said above, if you're looking just to just "hop in and fly", FS2Crew is not for you. I designed FS2Crew for fun in my spare time. I did it for the Desktop guys who wanted to make their desktop flightsim experience a little more real. Flying a 737 alone, that's not very real! Or legal! Or profitable... You don't fly airplanes, you fly people! All the best,Bryan

Tried it.. Love it!! Adds to realism no end!!Ben

I fly strictly from the VC. The only time I look at the 2D panel is when loading. Will it work fine from the VC only?

Yep It works with VC.

Oops! Thats better.Keep up the good workCheers
