747 main panel

I agree, and if I had to choose, I'd side with tecnical accuracy over appearance. It'd be neat to not have to choose though.> Eye candy with no substance can be found on many add-ons.Why can't we have both ?> By the way, what did you think of PS1?I think it's great, but not something I can afford to run how I'd like to. With all it's technical accuracy, it's too "clunky" for me to enjoy. If I were "just" into the tech side of things, it's an obvious choice; but, I like to look out the window too. Now, if I win the lotto and decide to set up the full motion rig, it would be my first choice.

>The PMDG views seem to reinforce the fact that you're>looking at a flat monitor, while I think the modded PIC panel>does it's best to get around that, adding a sense of depth.>Does that make sense ? No, it doesn't to me, sorry. My main point was that the ideal 2D panel should be constructed in such a way that anytime you would go outside of your "focused" vision in real world that would be equivalent of switching to another "view" on the monitor. In other words you should not see "too much" within the single view. The PIC panel above does show too much - it is too wide angle. And for "depth" I use the Fresnel lens so I don't have to worry about it.But anyway - I enjoyed the conversation.Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2

>Randy,> Don't go there, there has been to many flaming threads your>way lately and you are the one who said not to comment on>other products.> JeffG Hey Jeff, if you knew me in my PIC days you would right away know what I think of PIC, which by the way is one of the greatest add-ons ever created. I was only talking about perspective and we all agree that PIC is great even though the layout is not exactly realistically represented. It's either too small of gauges making flying instruments worthless of sacrifice of the layout, I agreed 100% in their choice. Brian, way out of wack not ment in a bad way, sorry about the choice of words there. Maybe you know that I created a landing panel for PIC? It was the only one that had landing lights AND rain showing on the windscreen. I first attempt was made using a real photo that Mr Phil Ghedds was also working with. After many long hours I choose to modify PIC's original bitmap which most users seemed to like better. I am a stickler for realisim - just ask my PMDG buddies. I just wanted to clarify the why factor, simple put the 744 a workable panel layout but still provides reasonable layout realism..Best Wishes,
Randy J. Hi RobertI just knew i was gonna get in trouble with this one no matter how politely i tried to word it , i really did not mean any offence with my "familiar" comment i was simply trying to explain what i was talking about cos we out here dont know how you guys plan these ideas we are simply passionate about getting it right too ,but thanks for putting me straight i now understand the reasoning behind it i will trust your judgement in the future and assume you guys are aware of anything else similar that may exist and that its is designed that way for a good reasonthanks and well done it looks great kavan

Oh and i also forgot to mention that i thought the VC would replicate the inaccuracy and be identical to the 2d panel layout not realizing that the 2d panel was simply a practical reprisentation slightly altered to fitkavan

It did not on the NG as the VC has items etc that are different than the 2D...Best Wishes,
Randy J. Smith
http://www.rawbw.com/~bdoolin/shinault/southparkcartmad.gif
PMDG 747!
Caution!
