January 19, 200620 yr Hello Captains!hoping to start up a thread of pilots posting their favourite flights or their own flight plans for use with the Queen. My flight was taken from a real world flight and also is a close to the ITVV Virgin Atlantic DVD EGLL-KSFO as i have seen so far. This flight took me 11 hours 10mins with a mixture of some nasty headwinds and some generous tail winds closer to KSFO. I love the Virgin livery and this flight tests your stamina! Be sure to take breaks!! ;)VIR19EGLL-KSFOH/B744EOBT/1100zN0495 F320ETE/10:42AIRBORNE/1121zEGLL DCT WOBUN DCT WELIN UN57 POL UN601 STN UN615 MATIK DCT 6200N/01000W DCT 6700N/02000W DCT 6900N/03000W DCT 7000N/04000W DCT 7000N/05000W DCT 7000N/06000W DCT ADSAM DCT NCAA DCT 6430N/10000W DCT LAT1 DCT YBE J517 YEG J517 GEG J3 RBL GOLDN4 KSFO Post your favourites and share them with others!
January 19, 200620 yr Haven't got the exact routing for it right now but a current favourite is EDDF-KJFK departing around 45 minutes before sunset. You get into US airspace just as the last of the sunlight dissappears. Being a dawn/dusk kinda guy it's a pleasent flight. It takes you right over Amsterdam and Manchester too which is nice. For short hauls KCVG-KJFK or KLGA keep you mighty busy, no time to admire the view! Mark Adeane - NZWN
January 20, 200620 yr Hi Paul, just a small adition to your VS19 plan,it would be a WOB(2F) departure from LHR to WOBUN and not a DCT.I have flown that route many a time on the real machine, but I must admit without the motivation of getting off and sampling SFO fine irish pubs at the end of the flight I wouldn`t have the stamina to do it on my PC!Heading back on the VS44 tomorrow KLAS-EGKK will post the route if anyone wants it when I get backhave funCheersJon 787 captain. January 24, 200620 yr Got my 900 page 747-441 manual, got my QRH, got my coffee, got the product of three hours on dispatch & preflight, and I even got my favorite routes :) ... - UA, SFO/LAX-SYD - UA, ORD-HKG (I believe the longest 744 rte in the world) - UA, SFO-FRA - NZ, SFO/LAX-AKLThe 747-400 is an awesome machine; I recently got the oppourtunity to get on the flight deck, it was amazing! :)
January 24, 200620 yr Author Actually Jon i was wondering if you could help me out with that VIR19 departure. I normally choose runway 27R for my departure on a WOB(2F) to 6000ft, i was wondering what would be the departure if the wind shifted and i had to choose runway 9R/9L. Id imagine there would be a standard left hand turn in there somewhere, bearing in mind its a 747 heavy id imagine it would be a long departure. Would i be correct?
January 24, 200620 yr Paul,I had to get my chart book out then, its been that long since I've been off the 9's to the North,BUZAD 3J is the one you want off 9R.9L isn't normally used for departures, except for when Concorde used to use it.Cheers Jon 787 captain.
