FSUIPC 3.617 - Tiller

Featured Replies

I have an X52 with all buttons and the normal 4 axes controlled from FSUIPC. When I try to use one of the additional X52 axes - rotary controls on the throttle - I can assign the axis to steering tiller but cannot get an effective calibration. I have tried many times including re-installing the joystick but the assigned rotary control refuses to move the rudder.Very grateful for any advice and in particular a note of the relevant settings in the FSUIPC.ini.Many thanksJohn Rooum

I have the Throttle Quad, FSYoke, and Pro Pedals from CH Products and since I dont use the three axis on the Yoke now I used the throttle axis on the yoke for the tiller and it works terrific. Made a full 180 deg turn and did it much better than with the rudder pedals alone. Thanks for the tip.

Is there a way to assign the tiller to a keystroke or two rather than the joystick?Mike

I'm not sure, but even if there was, what would be the point? It would either be straight, or fully turned, that might make it a little hard I would think. Unless I'm not understanding what you are asking.

Hi all, I forgot about this post, I said a while ago that I was going to try to map an analogue gamepad to the tiller control and that I'd write my results......I had to order a new gamepad as my old one had fallen to pieces under a few dozen books. I chose a Logitech rumblepad 2 (no need to rumble when turning but it's good for other games!!) and it has 2 sets of analogue levers, a d-pad and a whole range of buttons.I use the left lever for the tiller (x axis only) and the right lever as a variable speed brake (y axis only and forward of centre detent)It works a treat. No problems getting round the tightest corners with this setup. The d-pad also works as the point of view hat on my MSFF2 joystick, both work together. Now to look for a few more functions for the wasted axis.Any suggestions?Glen Lee

basically the point would be to map the tiller to 2 keys similar to the way the rudder is mapped to the numberpad now, which allows for the full range of graded movement, i use it all the time. i would like to be able to map the tiller in a similar way to another set of keys.Mike

OK got my answer from the author himself. There is no actual seperate control for the tiller prvoided by FS, the second axis is simply used to increase the sensitivity of the rudder/tiller control to make it more suitable for steering with a joystick on the ground. I was unclear on thatThe assigned keys in the numpad do that already as they provide full defelction and turning rather easily, so it would be redundant to map another key set to itThanksMike
