Arrvial STAR Problem

Featured Replies

No problems for SID of any aiportsFor arrival, I usually choose ILS for landing and a STAR selected in the FMC. However, the STAR always turns out with some weird route. for example turning a huge circle crossing some kind of stupid and redundant waypoints, or just don't agree with the runway alignment. So I choose another STAR, and the turnout is similar. Sometimes I just don't use the STAR, simply using ILS is ok. Is that my problem or we should fly just stupid as these ???Thx, dogdog1985PMDG protester :(

I think that if there is a stupid STAR is because it has not been well programmed...Anyway, you should know that there is a difference (are different phases of flight) between:APPROACH (ILS-DME, VOR-DME....)STAR (Arrival procedure to take you from enroute to approach procedure)TRANSITION (Takes you from enroute to STAR)Jose Luis.

Maybe I can remove some of the redundant points to make it more effective route. But these will violate the usage of STAR, because it is not standard when I try to amend it

The STARs we download from different sources for simulation usage are not STANDARD in most of the cases. Sometimes they are out of date as to-date charts are not available to the general public (or they are very expensive...think of Jeppessen charts)They have been programmed by simmers like us...and sometimes its quality and acuracy is not of the best.Jose Luis

So, Just like today, I fly to Seoul, RKSI, Incheon, all STARs are rubbish can't reach the runway in an effective way.VHHH is best, and VHHH doesn't have STARs, only SIDsRJAA, Tokyo Narita is also good, just fly straight to the runway, fly is just so simply

And once you have a certain knowledge about FMC programming, it's not very difficult to create your own personal SIDs or STARs based upon available charts.Jose Luis.

Go tohttp://www.navdata.at/You will find there charts for the whole world, real and sim charts.Jose Luis.

Also,At least in the USA, most STARs are not designed to link up to an approach, they are designed to get you into an approach controller's sector for manual sequencing. So don't be surprised that your STARs and Approaches don't link in a logical fashion. A controller is supposed to work his magic to sort that out.

HiI also have the same problem , with many airports not showing sids etc,eg LOWW.Could you please help me on how to create my own sids/stars.I am novice and a tutorial would be welcomed. Many thanks.

Excellent tutorial by Yingling at his site: planepath.com
