May 7, 200719 yr http://www.jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=303330Looks like our old friend G-VXLG from the ITVV VS19 programme has had LCD screens retrofitted. Is this retrofitting a common practice or one that is carried out only when the old screens fail? Mark Adeane - NZWN

May 8, 200719 yr Retrofitting sounds expensive (especially if there is nothing wrong with the old displays). I think our airline is replacing them as they fail (at least the ones which can't be repaired). There are pros and cons for fitting the new screens. I find the old ones easier to see at an angle. The soft surface on the LCD's is harder to look after, too. The new ones are lighter, probably use less power and they seem to repower more quickly (if power is lost). Cheers.Q>

(Pedestal, back left hand side, above>the EVAC)The new panel you can see is to do with the ballistic proofflight deck doors fitted after 9/11.Not a very interesting switch anyway, but I`d better not expand on that! ;-)Jon 787 captain.
