I entered a waypoint into the Route page on my 737-800 FMC IWW260/10 which is a point 10 miles after takeoff from runway 26L at London Gatwick, the waypoint was accepted fine and the waypoint symbol was in the correct place on the display. I then decided I didn't really need it and used the DEL function but it kept saying Illegal Delete, so I was then stuck with it.Why would it prevent me from deleting my own manually inserted wayoint ??Glen

Hi The first waypoint at the top cannot be deleted.Simply lineselect the second waypoint just below to the top, replacing the first one.The FMC just does not like to start flying with a discontinuity.James

The FMC will not allow a delete of the existing segment, which in this case was the first waypoint. It will happen enroute as well, the method cited above will work in that case as well.
