August 1, 200223 yr ...and it gets even more tempting to put a "U" in when the Q is for Queensland....QUee....anywho....maybe I'll make a hop down under this weekend and protest the no "U" rule with our freinds underneath.Rob.
August 1, 200223 yr Damn...oh well, I figured you were having problems with the system or the text twr/del/gnd controllers at Atlanta......remind me not to make that mistake again ;-)See you up there.Rob.
August 2, 200223 yr Lee,You will find that Finnair has NEVER had an accident. The DC3 accident you refer to happened to a company called Aero Oy (don't believe everything you read in the internet), which preceeded Finnair. Admittedly, Aero Oy and Finnair are originally the same company. I mean, it was only a name change and some changes in administration. Along with the fact that Finnish State had become a co-owner of Aero Oy a few years earlier. Regardless, Finnair has never had an accident, period.Finnair has existed since July 25, 1968.Finnair accidents: 0.cheers,Teroedit: for more on Finnair's history, see:http://www.finnair.com/web/finnair/scripts....0&pageid=-8740edit2: Aero exists again, as Finnair has started a new Estonia-basedsubsidiary company, and has given it Finnair's previous name. The company now only operates ATR-72's between Helsinki-Tallinn PPL(A)

August 6, 200223 yr Tero, unfortunately that is not correct. Back in the 60's a Finnair DC-3 crashed in Mariehamn during landing (a couple of kilometers away from where I live) and all except two were killed.KristerMariehamnhttp://www.airdisaster.com/cgi_bin/view_de...airline=Finnairhttp://www.airdisaster.com/cgi_bin/view_de...airline=Finnair Krister LindénEFMA, Finland------------------
August 6, 200223 yr Probably the best way to phrase it is that they haven't had a fatal accident. Even with the Bangkok "runway excursion," I think Qantas can still say that, too.Alaska Airlines, before that MD-83 crash, hadn't had a fatal accident since the 1940's, I believe. Living in the Pacific Northwest, it seems like once a month now that there's a sensationalist story in the news about how "Alaska is still unsafe."I actually clerked in their maintenance records department when I was in college. Great company, great airline, and great employees. The Pt. Mugu crash was, like so many accidents, a series of seemingly small missteps that resulted in a catastrophic failure. I wish our so-called news organizations could see that./RantJon (KSEA)
August 7, 200223 yr Krister,If you had read this whole thread, you would know that Finnair was established only in 1968.Those two accidents ('61 and '63) happened to Aero Oy. See my previous post on the subject. To my knowledge these are the only accidents that happened to Aero.cheers,Tero PPL(A)
