Hi again. It's me again... This forum's nightmare :-)Until we find a good 757 I'm still experimenting with the currently available (IFDG and FFG). After a lot of experiments, merges, swaps, tweaks, dismandles etc, I ended up with a 757 airfile that cooperates nicely with the PIC panel and seems to fly more like a 757.Any 757 pilots in this forum (and non-pilots) who wish to help me test the airfile, please drop me a line. Us hardcore 75ers will at least have something until a good 757 is released. Thanks!George DorkofikisAthens, Greece

Hi guys, thanks for the response. I've noted your emails. I'll wait a couple of days in case more persons appear that want to help, and then send the modifications to all.Cheers!George DorkofikisAthens, Greece

Hi George,Send me a copy mate, I'll have a go at it with a friend of mine who's flying the 75 for DHL.Just one caution regarding the most common pitfalls; In my opinion MSFS are usually overpowered at low altitude which can be witnessed by an eagerness to accelerate right past V2+20 during take-off, even with a very aggressive rate of climb. Secondly, the aircraft needs to be very "slick" on the descent. Trying to slow down a 75 whilst descending is very challenging and WILL call for heavy use of speedbrakes.

I use the P&W airfile and a modified aircraft.cfg for my IFDG 757-200 Volume 2 and PIC merge. I changed the electrical section and the flap section in the cfg. The weight and balance section I configured with Scott Cambpells AC Loader, so I have a really heavy 757 (ZFW 83.4 tons; 184.0 LBS). To get correct take off speeds in the PIC FMC, set 130tons (or the same weight in pounds) as take off weight, and for landing use 115tons. I tested these configuration several times. If you want to try it, I attached the aircraft.cfg and the airfile to these post.ByeAndre

Geee... And I thought I had a Deja Vu!!!!This post is almost a year old!Anyway, I'll send you the airfile I use for the IFDG 757 that I use to work with PIC, but note that I am using the RR variant.Andre already attached the PW variant so you can try both.Just change the flightsim sections accordingly.George DorkofikisAthens, Greece

George, Thanks a million. I am using the RR variant (Continental). I didn't realize that the post was over a year old! The search function really does work, doesn't it?Steve :D

Hi BobPlease check your first part of the cfg. You must copy your old fltsim.x section to the new cfg. Andre

George,What is this: Until we find a good 757?I'm a 757 pilot and I created the IFDG v2 .air file. I spent weeks on it and it is simply the most accurately handling .air file for the 757. So, what is your problem with it? I also designed it for work with the PIC panel so I don't see a problem there. You find that you .air file handles more like a real 757. I am very curious how you know that.I am a little bit insulted, quite frankly.Iz

Iz,Please don't be insulted. I'm sure George means no personal disrespect to your work.WRT your airfile.I flew a levelD B752 sim (PW engines) for 3 hours. It was far easier to slow down than the v2 airfile, and that fact alone has made me question about the "slickyness" of your airfile. Please understand that I don't actually think that I'm in any position to say I know better than you, obviously (!) but I was just so surprised by the different handling characteristics of those two. The training capt. told me the sim I used is 99.5% real when it comes to handling, so this leaves me a bit puzzled I'm afraid ??regardsTero

Iz,Perhaps you should look at the dates before lashing out. You are quoting George's posting from August 2002. By my forum searching, you announced your 757 FDE January 2003. There is no way George's posting could be an insult to your not-yet-existent FDE.Lee Hetherington (KBED)
