September 9, 200223 yr Will PIC Upgrade/Patch Once Again the 767 when FS2004 comes out or will it just be pushed aside and retired in to the hall's of other extinct FS models or will PIC come out with a GMAX model. How many of you are willing to pay for a patch, I am if the developers are able to keep functionality as in the original.I have yet to understand why design somthing so sweet as in the PIC767 only to say....we will not update it for a newer version of MSFS...it seems that when 2004 hit the shelves in 12 months that many Payware Companys(PSS,FSD,DFleet) are going to be at a crossroads...to let live or die????????http://www.flightsimnetwork.com/dcforum/Us...9d503cc53ab.jpg
September 9, 200223 yr I think they should charge once again, it's only fair. Perhaps issuing a 757/767 PIC with updated aircraft models. The 767 autopilot/flight director/FMC is a masterpiece and needs to be preserved through the FS evolution. I am more than positive than any "real"767 PIC user would be willing to pay for the incredible work that it takes to do this and not expect all this free work just because a few years ago they paid 30 dollars. September 9, 200223 yr http://ftp.avsim.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboa...viewmode=all#28If they are now calling it pic2002 there is sure to be a pic2004.(keeping my fingers crossed!)
September 11, 200223 yr Commercial Member If they remake 767 PIC for FS2004 with the new fully clickable dynamic VC etc I will gladly pay $100+ for it. Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
September 11, 200223 yr Wilco is in the software business, and in a rather small segment of that business. As far as I know there are only two ways to generate revenue in their business. a) develop new software (and sell it) :( upgrade old software (and sell it)The strange thing about the flight sim developers is that they don't seem to charge for upgrades...not exactly the way Microsoft or any other commercial developer does it.With the popularity of 767PIC Wilco has a franchise that they will allow them to continue to generate income and I would expect that it will be upgraded and sold for FS2004.Mark. December 15, 200223 yr I hope there will be an update for it when ever a new FS versions come out *bump*
December 15, 200223 yr I am wondering if that type of VC cockpit is workable using the Posky merge aircraft? It might be! I think the limited factors are the default mdl file but I could be wrong, will look into to this. Regards, Randy Smith Randy J Smith
December 15, 200223 yr Moderator All,I would willingly pay for an upgrade/update to make PIC767 work with any future version of FS. Having invested a considerable amount of money in an Aerosoft MCP747 unit I want to fly the 767 for the forseeable future.I would go as far to say that unless an upgrade/update is made available I will not buy a future version of FS.Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). December 15, 200223 yr My guess...is that after 3+ years, 767 PIC will be shelfed. I may be wrong, but I doubt this team (who has worked on this project for literally 5+ years) will want to make a decade-long saga out of this. Would you?Besides, patching would not make much sense at this point. The product would need an overhaul to bring it into "feature compliance" with other payware products out there now and in the future (VC's, GMAX models, improved 2D graphics, TCAS, WX Radar, etc...)J
December 15, 200223 yr I think we all know what things are most important to a panel add-on... and PIC has almost all of them! :-)Regards,Phil Geddes
December 15, 200223 yr Unfortunately, cheese sells. People love their push-button autopilots, chrome-reflective trim on their nacelles, wing views, etc. This group represents a small niche in an already small niche of the flight sim market. While we here continue to oggle at PIC's phenomenal handling, precision instrumentation, and superior FMC - the rest of the world is beating their drum of ignorance, 'What? No GMAX? What? No virtual cockpit?"From a business standpoint, PIC's lifetime has long since evaporated. Anything that comes out of Wade, Laurent, or Pedro these days is by pure grace. You can bet your undershorts that they ain't wadin' in no pot o' gold everytime they publish a patch. If there's a dollar to be had, you can bet Wilco has it. So, barring a pure insatiable desire on their part to leap in and invest a few hundred hours of their life on an FS2004 upgrade - all for the glory of Wilco - I would be surprised if this product lives into FS 200x (although we can hope for FS2002 backwards compatibility, I s'pose - and hope it all magically works!)J
